Seriously. I feel like we do…

Seriously. I feel like we do this every day. Always the bridesmaid....at what point does winning pay off for us on the recruiting trail?! So tired of watching all of these 5*'s go the other way...not holding my breath for Underwood either. I know how this story ends.

That last line is gold and…

That last line is gold and is unfortunately why so many marriages fail when kids enter the picture. Kids become the priority and the marriage fades. Keep your wife as your #1 and you'll kids will be the better for it. Your son will learn how to love his wife and your daughter will learn what to look for in a husband.

Take it from a Reverend who…

Take it from a Reverend who has officiated at over 50 weddings: don't waste too much time, energy, or (especially) money on the wedding day. It'll be over before you know it and you won't remember or care about much of it even five years later. It's one day. Invest more time, energy, and effort in your marriage. Lord willing, that will last a lifetime.

As far as advice for your marriage goes, I have two encouragements:

  1. Serve your wife in every way you can. View that as your first priority when you wake up and last thing you do before you go to bed. If you can do something to help her or make her life easier, do it--whether or not she sees or knows you're doing it. Put her goals and dreams ahead of your own and trust she'll do the same for you. When the thing that makes you most happy in life is to see your wife happy, you'll never be unhappy again.
  2. Grow in your ability to listen to and hear your wife. When she vents to you, you'll be tempted to try and fix everything for her. Most of the time, however, she'll simply want you to listen. Listening is one of the best and easiest ways to do #1 above. Bonus: if you get really good at listening, you'll never have to struggle over a birthday or Christmas present again, because she'll have already told you what she's interested in and hoping to receive.

Blessings on your marriage! It's the best life there is.

If anyone is willing to buy…

If anyone is willing to buy me and my wife tickets to the game, you can stay at our house for free! We live about 30 miles outside of LA. ;)

This is why I posted it and I'm so glad I did! My goodness you guys, what a boost! God bless all of you!

Finn is out of surgery and the doctors feel pretty confident they got it all (or as much as they could). He'll have another MRI on Friday to confirm. Hoping he doesn't need surgery again, though there's a chance.

After that, we'll wait for the pathology results and figure out how to go after the other tumors on his spine and possibly elsewhere.

NOT that it's necessary--you've all already done more than I asked--but if you'd like to send a card to the little guy shoot me an email: pastor [at] princeofpeaceto [dot] com

Don't know why the picture won't upload. I'm doing this on my phone in the waiting room.

There's no way to say this…

There's no way to say this without potentially offending the recruits or our coaches but, as a whole, that list is a little less than encouraging. I just don't understand how, following our best season in 20 years, our recruiting got worse?! Is it simply the NIL factor?

While I know some of these kids will prove to be undervalued and our coaches will turn them into blue-chippers, is it really too much to ask to have a couple top-100 prospects be interested in us?

Not to mention that was the…

Not to mention that was the most penalties a Saban-led Bama team was given in one game. If the refs were pulling for Bama, they did a poor job imo.

I'm convinced Harbaugh knew…

I'm convinced Harbaugh knew what everyone became convinced of tonight. JJ was the guy, but you can't pull the QB who accomplished everything Cade did last year before the next season even starts--especially for a guy coming off surgery who hardly participated in practice all summer. Harbaugh had to do what he did with the QB's so everyone else could see what he knew. Given the non-conference schedule, he could afford to do it. Tonight we saw it. We move ahead with JJ and everyone in that locker room agrees. Harbaugh gave Cade what he earned: a chance to keep his job based on his results on the game field, not the practice field, and he lost it. I think it played out exactly how Harbaugh thought it would.

I know Harbaugh is a quirky…

I know Harbaugh is a quirky guy, but it makes less than no sense for him to leverage the NFL into getting a new deal at UM when he just gave all his bonus money away.

But since he hasn't come out and denied the NFL rumors--which are growing increasingly loud--it leads me to think he's either leveraging the NFL for his assistants or to create/improve/increase the NIL program for Michigan. I'm shocked at the kind of class he was able to pull in this year given that it appears we're so far behind in the NIL department.

Lived in SLC for about ten years and became a Utah fan (after Michigan, of course). I live in LA now and got a free ticket to the Rose Bowl and will be wearing my "Born on Third" shirt from the Mitten State. Couldn't pass up an oppurtinity to cheer against OSU in person. Go Utes!

Haha. Same here. I kept shouting, "Can we find someone to stop him?" every time Verge drove to the bucket....as we continued to stretch the lead. It was very weird.

I'll admit it - watching it…

I'll admit it - watching it live, I thought the refs missed it. But watching it in slow mo shows he timed it perfectly. Didn't get to the QB but added another trucking highlight to his already extensive reel. Thanks for sharing.

Is there a reason to think…

Is there a reason to think this is anything other than a self-serving analysis? Since sparty beat us, wouldn't it make sense to pump us up as being the best team in the country - all the while he's just waiting to drop the hammer: "and we beat them." Imagine if we did win the BCS. The record would always have that -1 which low life Spartans will have to gloat over till kingdom come.

- Michigan made me a pessimist

Logged in for the first time…

Logged in for the first time in a long time to comment on this. You're exactly right that this is the best way to play the option. I was an option QB in high school (neg away) and the  the most difficult teams to play were the ones who sent the DE's to kill me every single play.

It not only wears down the QB but the whole point of it is to freeze everyone on the defense just long enough to get the edge. If Hutchinson's job was to hit the QB every play (instead of trying to skate), then everyone else's job is to sprint to the pitch back.

While the option is designed to keep the defense guessing, if you know what you're doing, the defense can actually dictate what they want the offense to do. Would love to see Hutchinson smash the QB every play. Most QB's will start to pitch it a little sooner to avoid the hit or brace for it which gives our D longer to pursue.

While I understand our DE's are super athletic, they will rarely force the pitch and make the play. The whole point of the option is to nullify the edge. It typically does that very well.

Who cares? Has anyone solved…

Who cares? Has anyone solved what happened to Harbaugh yet?

Read up on the deep, deep…

Read up on the deep, deep friendship RGB and Antonin Scalia shared and you'll quickly see why each earned the title "honorable." You'll also be hard pressed to find much of that anywhere else in our county which sadly explains so, so much.

May God have mercy on The Honorable Ginsburg, her family, and all who mourn her.

I mean, I feel like Howard…

I mean, I feel like Howard is racking up a decent amount of "first in quite a while" feats this year. Really impressed with how he has done with this squad!

IT’S. THE. FREAKING NBA!!!!…

IT’S. THE. FREAKING NBA!!!! How are people still confused by this?!?!? I don't care if it was to the worst city and the worst team. My goodness people. THE LEAGUE!!!!! Good for him. Glad he did it. Even more glad we're still in excellent hands. No way of knowing if we'd be better off this year with him. In the long run, as many have said, we won't be worse off without him. Hope he enjoys his retirement.

Can we please stop shitting…

Can we please stop shitting on Coach Beilein? He thought it through. He's an extremely intelligent guy. Why do we assume he's some sort of ignorant moron who foolishly surmised taking over one of the crappiest teams in the NBA would be a walk in the park? Stop blaming him for making a move any sane person in his position and stage of life would make.

I'm sure the folks in WV thought he was crazy when he took the job in Michigan. At the time he was leaving a better team from a better conference to take over a mediocre job at a football school...and that worked out okay.

I'm not saying this will but he's earned our support and then some.

I live in L.A. and plan on…

I live in L.A. and plan on taking the fam if it's the Holiday bowl. Anyone know when it'll be announced? I found 4 really good tickets for $500. Those will almost certainly double/triple as soon as UM vs USC is announced. I'm so tempted to buy them now...

I've been looking forward to…

I've been looking forward to "next year" for over a decade. I'm tired. This is who we are. The only thing that will bring us closer to OSU is their own implosion. On second thought, they've actually had multiple and it hasn't touched them. We're not catching them. Get used to saying "next year" until death. Which, at this point, would be a sweet release from having to feel like this every year over a stupid game.

Any word on what tournament…

Any word on what tournament we're playing in next year? I saw Atlantis and Maui already have their fields set. From what I've been able to find online, we're not slated for one yet. Anyone know anything? Just watching all the fans there this week, it looks like a really cool atmosphere. I'd like to take my family to a getaway like that but it obviously depends where they're playing.

I think Philyor is out...per them mentioning it every five seconds.

While there's no way to…

While there's no way to prove this is the reason we're 0-8 again them recently, this shows a huge difference in approach between Urban and Harbaugh. Would it freaking kill Harbaugh to talk like this in public, like just once? There is a reason it is called THE GAME. I HATE when Harbaugh talks about it like it's just another game... Urban got it and it showed.

Man, they are really…

Man, they are really sticking that Wisconsin loss to us. Is Barry Alvarez still on the committee? Thought we would've jumped them this week. How do you lose to Illinois and almost crack the top 10?

I mean, what's he supposed…

I mean, what's he supposed to say? Especially considering he'll get a one-time "thanks for your commitment" to [this dumpster fire] $4.3 million dollar gift if he stays till January 15, 2020.

I know the AD said he's staying, but that's a big check for .500 ball. It'll be interesting if the hostility of the Sparty fans can convince the University otherwise.

Please tell me what lottery…

1) Mobile quarterback

2) Speedy (in much more space than ours) receivers, presumably running crossing routes

Their offense might not be that great, but when an offense has 1 & 2 above, we make them look like world beaters. Add in Harbaugh's abysmal record against teams in PSU's position (home, top ten, etc) and I don't understand why anyone would have any semblance of confidence entering this game.

From my perspective, the chances are better this game is a 2017 repeat than we come out victorious. I pray I'm wrong but I highly doubt I will be.

Of course I believe him. And…

Of course I believe him. And, outside the Wisconsin game, I haven't really heard much criticism against the D...the other side is the being criticized and rightly so.

Here's the problem: fire or no fire, does anyone think it'll really matter or produce a different result on the field? I have no doubt he and many others are fired up. I'm glad for them and hope it vaults their draft stock while maintaining my skepticism re: the results. This is our team. It is what it is and it's not getting any better. I don't put that on the players but on the guys calling the shots.

Who's assuming? LOOK AT THE…

Who's assuming? LOOK AT THE PLAY ON THE FIELD AND THE RESULTS!!!

I'll add a second one: can we also please stop fan-shaming and 'BPONEing' fans who are simply being realistic? How long do you say "this is the week" before you finally just admit "this is who we are"? Why is that so wrong?

Here's the difference,…

Here's the difference, however. Good teams improve over the course of a season. PSU has improved a good deal since that game, as expected. Other than some slight improvements on defense that were brought about, not by a coach's decision but by the necessity of injuries (McGrone and Hill), there has been no improvement from this team. That's 98% coaching.

Can we please just stop with the "this is the week everything clicks" and just be honest with ourselves that mediocrity is what we're dealing with moving forward?

I wouldn't say you're outta…

I wouldn't say you're outta line but I would def say you're way off base. This entire program is beyond cursed. It's the only explanation that makes sense anymore. I mean, look at the compete and utter messes other programs around the country have endured and come back from in a year or two. But Michigan is no closer to a B1G title than we were with Hoke. We're cursed. I don't know why and I don't know how, when, why, or who will end it. But this much is clear: it will not be James Joseph Harbaugh.

I was at the game so correct…

I was at the game so correct me if it was more evident on TV, but the only apparent difference between this offense and last year's is the lack of a huddle. We still snapped a lotta plays inside 10 seconds. It was all out of the shotgun but that didn't change much.

There did seem to be a noticeable difference when McCaffrey was running the show. Don't know why, just felt different in the stadium.

This is really awesome man…

This is really awesome man. I'd sign up but I'm already taking my dad to the game. I'm flying in from California to surprise him and celebrate his retirement. Again, kudos and good luck to all the fathers and sons out there!

I live about 20 miles from UCLA, attended both basketball games at Staples, had tickets to the sweet 16 this year but had to sell them last second. Was planning to take the fam to one of the baseball games this weekend too. Glad I checked this first....though I'm disappointed with what's transpired. I'll be emailing the AD dept as soon as I post this. Thanks for the info! #BummedInLA

Was the gentleman's name 'Uncle Rico' by chance? Lol. I did enjoy the story but just envisioned this guy talking about JJ's arm strength and throwing footballs over mountains.

FWIW, I recall hearing stories about Peters throwing the ball 80 yards in hike school and that didn't mean much for his UM career.

Coach K (from Utah) reminds…

Coach K (from Utah) reminds me very much of what Beilein was coming into Michigan. He's a very good coach that has gotten a lot out of players with lesser talent and even made a little tourney run. We could do much worse than him imo. I would hope we could do better but this hire would make me less upset than a lot of other names being seriously considered, i.e. Shaka.

Thanks for debunking it…

Thanks for debunking it everyone and for your gentleness in doing so. I'm on the edge of my seat like everyone else and I'm grasping at whatever I can! "Don't stop believing!" - Some wise guy

I understand your concerns;…

I understand your concerns; no offense taken. We actually took our eight month old to the Utah game while we were living in SLC - couldn't miss Harbaugh's first game. Rice-Eccles is significantly louder than the Big House, though it only seats about 50k. We purchased some sound-proof headphones (think the big ones airport workers wear on the tarmac). It can be done and she did awesome. Accept my apologies for any problems children have caused you at previous games. In my experience it isn't because parents are too cheap to pay for a sitter....they just wanna share their love for Michigan with their loved ones.
