Long history of ankle…

Long history of ankle sprains and even 2 spiral fractures along the way. RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation) is key. Especially ice and elevation. Avoid heat even though it feels good at the time - ice is is better for inflammation. When elevating try to get it above your heart. In my experience a severe sprain could take a few months, and after long days on my feet the swelling would cause throbbing pain even after a few days of feeling ok. Back to ice and elevation.

Howard should be fired on…

Howard should be fired on performance alone before even considering all the anger management issues.  He took over an elite program and has driven it into the ground in short order..

Bush was playing fine before…

Bush was playing fine before he blew out his knee. Tough break for sure.

For me it's David Terrell.

This may be unpopular but Desmond Howard gets honorable mention. Sure, he was an all pro returner and won a super bowl MVP, but he was drafted 4th overall and never did anything as a WR.

Also I love/hate this thread. Don't ask me to hate on wolverines who made it to the league!

Make sure you have a board…
  • Make sure you have a board that fits you or is too big. Not too small.
  • Wear actual snowboarding boots. They are tapered at the heel and toe. - regular boots will make you catch your edge.
  • Stay away from icy runs to start out. Too powdery can be challenging too but much more forgiving if (when) you fall.
  • It's impossible to learn without a little slope. Flat bunny hills are not ideal on a snowboard. You don't have to bomb the hill, keep your weight back and fall "uphill" as you learn.
  • This will sound dumb but If you drink, a round or 2 in the lodge beforehand may loosen you up a bit and make it easier for you. Have seen that be the case with many people.
  • There is no shame in telling the lift operator its your first time on a chair lift. Getting off the lift can be tricky until you get the hang of it. Don't let your board catch underneath!

I mean, would be cool, but…

I mean, would be cool, but plays the same position as Brian Branch so highly unlikely to happen.

XM not sure exactly where…

XM not sure exactly where you're at, but keep an eye out for fiber providers moving into your area. Lots of rural fiber expansion in NW lower MI supported by state and federal grant $ and the prices are silly cheap compared to starlink or even spectrum coax.  As an example Acentek out of Mesick has 200mb fiber plans for $50/mo and is burying more fiber all the time. Cherry capital communications is another.

The Washington receiver…

The Washington receiver never actually touched the ball - he hit Johnson's forearm.

Auburn was able to pick up…

Auburn was able to pick up chunk plays consistently by going with an empty set or motioning to empty set, and running a qb draw up the middle with Peyton Thorne.  I think UM needs to show a willingness for JJ to run early so Bama has to account for him all day. I also like the idea of using  Orji for a handful of QB powers, but unless they trust him as a passer that will be as predictable as the Pepcat so should only be a handful of plays.

Prime rib with rosemary…

Prime rib with rosemary thyme garlic butter and homemade horseradish sauce. Redskin taters and asparagus sides. Meijer does a prime rib sale every year at Christmas (7.99/lb this year) and it has become a tradition for us.

I mean.... haven't we all…

I mean.... haven't we all been clamoring for due process over the past few months?  I understand there's a difference between criminal acts and advanced scouting, but alleged is alleged and due process is due process.

The gifts aren't the problem…

The gifts aren't the problem, just sayin!

I'll add the double…

I'll add the double technical/ejection from a recent game he wasn't even "coaching" while he recovers from heart surgery.  Bad, bad look, if nothing else.

That incident made me wonder if the end is indeed near for him at UM.

Also, how/why is it possible for him to travel out of country with the team, be on the bench and get so worked up he gets ejected - yet he's not recovered enough to be the head coach yet?  I'm kinda lost on that one.

Disguise coverages and use a…

Disguise coverages and use a few zone blitzes on 3rd down.  Assign a zone coverage/spy in long yardage situations.  Continue to use all the stunts and games the DL has used all year - but with an emphasis on gap integrity.  Try to make him think before and after the snap so he's not sure what the D is doing - even if we stick with our main man-2 defense, disguise it occasionally.

Milroe is going to make some plays - just have to keep them to a minimum and limit their impact.  E.g. 3rd downs, no 20+ yard runs, etc.

What we can't do is assign a spy who's not quick or agile enough to contain him.  So frustrating to watch teams waste a defender and not even stop the 1 thing they scheme is designed to stop.  I expect Minter will know better.

It contributes, but not in…

It contributes, but not in the way you laid out.

Elite defense and bad coaching + execution on offense leads to even more uber-conservative strategy on offense.  Don't take risks, take what the defense gives you, punt, hope for a turnover, rinse and repeat.  When that "don't lose us the game" offensive strategy leads to (relative) team success, it becomes more deeply engrained as part of their culture and trickles through into recruiting, coaching hires, etc.

They are not built to make explosive plays or play from behind, so when they are forced to it looks REALLY bad and makes their stats/metrics even worse.  So yes, having an elite D does make their offense worse.

XM what is your aurora…

XM what is your aurora forecast of choice? I've leaned into the NOAA aurora forecast site in the past but doesn't seem to predict forward very well.

I've been fortunate to catch them at the tip of Old Mission peninsula several times but the best I've ever seen was around 2004(?) driving north on 127 near Clare when it was -25° out. Have been hooked ever since and try to catch them when they're out.

You missed them. Gus calls…

You missed them. Gus calls Corum "Blake the Great" and Edwards "The Don" regularly and did so during the game, though not as much as the OSU names. It's his schtick and nothing new.

Great breakdown.  A little…

Great breakdown.  A little interesting the last 2 clips he talks about Ohio St moving a safety back on 3rd and short to prevent big plays, but the LBs made the tackle on both clips after the 1st down was picked up.  Will be fun to watch that cat and mouse game.  We know Moore will be patient enough and happy to consistently run for 4-5 yds if it's there and wear out OSU. I also think Corum and especially edwards will still beat that safety if there's a mistake up front and they get a running start.

I love that his hairline…

I love that his hairline makes a perfect M.

While his stats don't jump…

While his stats don't jump off the page this guy has been the ultimate Swiss army knife and leader since he arrived. On top of a pick six and all his defensive numbers he has converted 3 fake punts (one on a 25 yd pass) and averages 31.5 yd per kick return on 4 returns including a 66 yarder. The man is everywhere.

or do we tarnish nationally now from suppositions?

Uhhh, yes, we absolutely do this now.

Looks like a deer (fawn) to me.

Is this St Andre trying to…

Is this St Andre trying to punish the board for leaking the story and Tracy's name? Clearly it's the players actually  getting punished, but seems pretty odd to pull their deals mid-season.

Even though there's beautiful irony in Saban whining about NIL from the start, I can't recall anything he's said about NIL that I disagree with. It's a shitshow with no rules, being applied in a completely imbalanced way by outside boosters who have no oversight. (So almost like the before times, but now it's ok to do in broad daylight.) Meanwhile the TV $ is still not making it back to the players.

Exactly. It's an emo-rock…

Exactly. It's an emo-rock song about him NOT getting the girl and being super jealous about it. Lyrics aside, it's also just not a slammer that I'd associate with a stadium anthem.  Oh well, it works for most apparently.

Thank you Rob!  We were…

Thank you Rob!  We were writing our posts at the same time, but I could not agree more!

Obviously I'm in the…

Obviously I'm in the minority here, but this one has just never done it for me as an in-stadium "hype" song.  I can appreciate stadium anthems across all sports; Jump Around, Enter Sandman; 7 Nation Army, We Will Rock You, Hip Hop Hooray, etc.  To me this song just does not hit that way at all.  I cant be alone when I hear a more whiny tone with Mr. Brightside than a stadium rock/hype song, right? Right???

I should say, I dont mind the song, just dont get why/how it gets people amped up for some football.

1) 9 Games

2) Lake Michigan, West Grand Traverse Bay, Probably Near Bowers Harbor/Neahtawanta

3) You win, Harbaugh will stay

4) Considerate & friendly

5) Check here https://www.allconnect.com/internet first to see if there are possibly any fiber providers in your area (rural coverage is expanding quickly), if not Starlink is probably your best bet. It's pricey and there is some latency, but it is reliable and the speed is good overall.

Yes, I'd draft him.  His…

Yes, I'd draft him.  His talent is top 2 or 3 in the draft, the DT position is commanding HUGE $ in free agency.  It's also clearly a position of need.  Won't be sad if the lions disagree and pass on him as long as they get one of the top 5 DTs in the draft.

If HD played like Chris…

If HD played like Chris Webber no UM fans would have this take.  HD is most decidedly NOT Chris Webber.

He was awful.  But quite…

He was awful.  But quite frankly, the coaching kept putting him position to fail. He's an atrocious ball handler, literally his worst trait, but for some reason they kept using him to break the press and even had him play a few min at PG when Dug was on the bench.

NOT asked T-Will to be a…

NOT asked T-Will to be a primary ball handler against the press, for 1.

That was..... wow.  It's…

That was..... wow.  It's been clear all year, but this game (and especially without Kobe) demonstrated how badly they're in need of secondary ball handlers.  I love dug, but he's a 5'9 Freshman and only 1 guy.  How or why they decided to have T-will playing backup PG and being a primary ball handler inside of a minute against a full court press is absolutely mind boggling.  Give it to Baker, or Hunter, or Kayat, or damn near anybody BUT T-Will when ball security is basically the only thing that matters.

Scientist, Willie Nelson. I'm not even a big Wiilie fan but his version is just different and much better.

Haven't taken a python class…

Haven't taken a python class but EdX has been a great resource for me finding random classes like that.  Depends on the "training institution" or school you pick, but most of the standalone courses are free if you do the audit track.  The difference vs paying is you only get temporary access (often 60 days) to course materials and dont get graded assignments or a final grade/certificate of completion.

Let's hope in Turner's case his is more functional speed and he has a lengthy and productive NFL career.
