First, I really enjoy your insightful and humourous writing. Thanks!

Second, what are the chances that Don Brown eventually gets so tired of continually saving our  team's bacon that he goes elsewhere? His D played very well - I think most don't appreciate the difficulty of defending Army's offense.

PS : Did Ruiz actually simply tip over on his one penalty? He IS a big boy.

Great post-game read on A&M blog

What an excellent game! THAT is what we can do. And for a fun read check out the Texas A&M blog

 https://www.goodbullhunting.com/2018/3/22/17154764/ncaa-tournament-recap-texas-a-m-falls-to-michigan-99-72

where it says things like "We were flat run off the court"

After suffering through 2 games, it's nice when all cylinders are firing again. GO BLUE

In the end, it it the coaching that must take the blame

Good writeup, but in the end it is the coaching that is accountable. There are many examples of teams out there this year that did not recruit as well as Michigan, but the coaching made the difference. Heck, look at Stanford when Harbaugh took over. Somehow he did it then.

We lost yesterday because of poor coaching. Too many turnovers?  Poor coaching. Poor play calling (crowned off by wonder-full cute TE plunge on 3rd and 1)?  Poor coaching. Inexperienced players not being developed? Poor coaching. Hello UCF!  I guess I have fallen off the Harbaugh wagon and now am just stumbling along behind examining the pieces that fall off. I will always be a Meechigan fan, but as Toomer said we will need better than this. How many times can we say "there is always next year!".  I am sure I will be saying it soon too, but for now it is just sad reality.

fell off the Harbaugh excitement wagon

Ok, it has been (almost) 24 hours so not a hot take. We lost yesterday because of poor coaching. Too many turnovers?  Poor coaching. Poor play calling (crowned off by wonder-full cute TE plunge on 3rd and 1)?  Poor coaching. Inexperienced players not being developed? Poor coaching. Nice one UCF!  I guess I have fallen off the Harbaugh wagon and now am just stumbling along behind examining the pieces that fall off. I’m going with Big Mike wherever Big Mike goes

Love it!  The TEAM, the team.

What time to start drinking?

When do you think I should start drinking Saturday so it won't hurt so bad?

Our defense is nat' champ level and our kicker, but our offense and else is mid-level. So sad.

Delay of Game just before half

The DOG killed the great inside shovel pass play that would probably have lead to a field goal before half.  Harbaugh was rightfully irate at O'Korn, but shouldn't Harbaugh have been watching the clock and called a TO ??  So so many sloppy things.

prevention of PTSD

Very interesting theory on why we don't see Peters. But I say go ahead and designed-run O'Korn more - what is the risk of injury at this point? This would open up some things.

Poor clock mgmt

I haven't watched the replay yet, but on our second to last punt perhaps,  I think the clock was running and the punter kicked it with 14 seconds left on the play clock??? Also, O'Korn ran his last non-overtime plays with poor time mgmt. One time he called for snap with about 5 seconds left on clock.  That counts for 19 seconds if I am right, which would have really ended the game.

And again, our blocking on punt returns was terrible. Never any time to run before about 5 guys decend on PJ

Damn, this is good!

So many things you don't pick up on real time.

Bush is a phenomenal  player!!!  His reads and quickness, and little things are incredible - like the attempt to strip the QB as he one-arm sacked him. Oh Lord, please don't let him get hurt.

One other thing I noticed was that O'Korn made quick reads and decisions, more like a seasoned QB. The frame "#9 - Now with Pinpoint Accuracy", that actually was a pretty good window, but it was closing very rapidly. A moment's hesitation and that would have been broken up or picked. I think his confidence is was we need in a QB (along with his accuracy!). After Speight's injuries and increasing with each game it seemed like he was hesitant to throw the ball, much like Gardner. With similar results.  With the correct timing, the whole offense seemed to click.

I think Gentry dropped an

I think Gentry dropped an easy one. BUT then he made an awesome catch. All good!

The only question in my mind is if it really is a meritocracy.

Yes, that is the question. I don't think there is any doubt that O'Korn earned his chance to start.

turning Kalis into a turnstile

one of your best!!!

Yes, it does sound pitiful

A.J., I don't think it is correct to say Speight is close. "As for the overthrows, this sounds pitiful, but the misses were much, much closer than in the past." Ha,ha  the firing squad says 'we are getting closer.'  I can remember offhand at least 2 terrible passes: he BADLY missed one sideline route (ball was delivered impossibly 3 yds out of bounds) and a corner fade route where I believe the pass is supposed to hit the corner pylon but wasn't even close!! It is so frustrating how he can be spot on sometimes, then WAY off the next. His receivers must be equally baffled/frustrated.  A classic case of "trying too hard" ? Just like that poor decision to try to ground a pass rather than take a sack and he fumbled when it slipped out of his hand. Not playing like an experienced leaader.

you didn't mention

You didn't mention the missed penalty when Iowa's QB literally bearhugged the RB and helped him go forward for the 1st down. I am pretty sure this is not allowed "No player on offense may assist a runner except by blocking for him."   Blatant and one of the commentators noted it as I recall, but the ref's didn't see it I guess.

Wait, I thought I read that

Wait, I thought I read that Derrick was going to graduate this spring. Doesn't that mean the scholarship is complete??? No more obligation?

"and not hold onto guys that
