I have a SIL who is among those 2 million. It's a characterless place from many perspectives.

Jay Wright is "only" 62...he should be revived by his sabbatical interlude.  Back up the brinks truck and sign him to a five year deal...from which he can ride off into the sunset.

Well, in general you have a point. However, as I have just reported below, I made a key lime pie for this day. It is excellent all by itself...unwarmed and without ice cream.

I/we love pie-both the…

I/we love pie-both the making and the eating. I made key lime last evening-for this day.

...after they keep the one…

...after they keep the one they like the best. Their profile of actually knowing who is the best is not particularly good. They have clearly lost any understanding of the importance of and what comprises the "heart of a champion". This is just another of Day's significant faults.

Otherwise, in looking at the clip of that top RB from Texas what I see, first and foremost, is a lot of very bad tackling-pathetic effort. Sure, he is nicely put together and has good speed but he does not demonstrate the vision of the top backs. Is he coachable...can't tell from a clip???

Be informed by the offense…

Be informed by the offense in the second half against PSU-against that defense that "everyone" considered to be the most elite in the college game...and who the HC was in that game. Orgi, Mullings, Edwards and Hall...Loveland, Morris, Morgan, Moore, English...offensively this team is not as bankrupt as the hand-wringers believe it to be.

This year's schedule reminds…

This year's schedule reminds me of the quip "Just because you are not paranoid does not mean that they are not out to get you". The Iowa schedule is stunning-that POS team could "legitimately" go undefeated.

Sainristil, Barrett and…

Sainristil, Barrett and Jenkins.

I am very intrigued with…

I am very intrigued with what Mullings has shown...am a bit dismayed that he was not employed more. He appears to be one of those elite, angry-running SEC backs...6'2" 240 pounds-OMG.

Congrats to the Friday night…

Congrats to the Friday night boys!

There were too many self…

There were too many self-inflicted gaffs but Mr. Purdy is one hell of a competitor.

Sometimes it take several years for a team that has an also-ran history to develop a mindset that can close the deal.

Whoa...looks like Pinckney…

Whoa...looks like Pinckney football is back...to where it was when I was there-over 50 years ago!!!!

You may be correct but there…

You may be correct but there is no way that your notion is not totally a blind-folded shot in the dark. This is a very complicated game. The Jim Harbaugh coaching story of taking four consecutive failing programs to very high levels of play strongly challenges your supposition. It is not intuitively obvious what drives Jim's success but it did not happen by flipping a coin and having it land on heads four time in a row. The man has something within himself that compels his charges to take up the tasks of the game and do their best.

You do not know this. In…

You do not know this. In fact , Jim may have made the deal based upon the assurance that Jesse stays.  We do not know.

I am a little surprised-but…

I am a little surprised-but not much. It was pretty much a now-or-never deal regarding his pursuit of a Super Bowl ring. What will surprise me is if the core staff of elite assistants do not stay to carry on the work. Because, I believe Jim's leaving has/had/includes some sort of contingency plan to keep the Michigan train rolling if at all possible.

Jim gets to live his life.

That was a spectacular line!

That was a spectacular line! Along with "...they buried Woody Hayes instead!!!!"

Minter, Moore, Hart, Elston,…

Minter, Moore, Hart, Elston, Clinkscale...elite difference-makers...

Football is a very…

Football is a very complicated game requiring a great deal more than simple, raw, physical talent. Even the most elite college players require coaches to teach the specific skills and to orchestrate the play of the team. Without excellent coaching even elitely talented players can result in mediocre team play. OSU has been coached at a very average level for several years. Michigan's coaching staff has been elite for the last 3 years-the best in the game this year. Unless and until OSU resolves its considerable coaching issues they will struggle-even with the best talent.

The question, here, for Michigan is  with regard to the retention of that elite staff. If there is significant coaching staff retention, Michigan they could make a very serious run at another NC.

I saw this clip earlier…

I saw this clip earlier. Elite coaching staffs turn excellent players into elite players and excellent teams into elite team...this is the 2023 Michigan football team. And one of the things that I noted in the review of the two plays that are featured is that for all the incessant and childish whining of our opponents as to how we got all the officiating breaks these clips turn those complaints upside down. The holding our DL had to endure, with impunity,  is stunningly egregious.

Wonderful...I'm not…

Wonderful...I'm not complaining but one of my favorite memories got cut a few seconds too soon-Rod Moore's good-bye wave as he left the field with that glorious, game-sealing INT.

Football is the consummate…

Football is the consummate team sport-with the most moving parts. Elite players without good coaching struggle to win. We love the talent and commitment of our great team of '23 but without the coaching, guidance and orchestration by an elite staff of coaches they are just another team. OSU can amass all the talent in the world...a huge hurtle remains.

We were in Wichita today for some shopping...and there was Michigan gear at a Towne East Square Mall sporting goods store!

Agreed. I could not make it…

Agreed. I could not make it/take it two minutes in. Good grief man-what are you, a twelve year old???

What a joy to have JJ lead…

What a joy to have JJ lead our Wolverines for the past two years. 27-1, 3 B1G Titles, 3 CFP appearances and a National Championship says it all. JJ's physical talents are excellent and his intangibles are off the charts. He turns 21 in a week. We will see what his future in football holds-I will not be surprised if he ends up being the top QB from this high ceiling class.

Sincere thanks and congratulations.

Nothing beats that tripe of…

Nothing beats that tripe of a piece about what the ANONYMOUS B1G coaches thought about Michigan.

And everything is an…

And everything is an allegation-even though thousands, even millions view/hear it.

Tuttle should be good at…

Tuttle should be good at turtling the Harbaugh offense.

JJ is 20 years old. Your…

JJ is 20 years old. Your negative assessments are no more valid than the positive ones. Harbaugh basically calls JJ a generational talent. I think the kid has a very high ceiling.

Our main  dish is leftover…

Our main  dish is leftover scalloped potatoes and ham with three bean salad as a palate cleanser.

We had our blizzard Monday night-lost power and missed the game. A second run at us last night but we escaped with little snow-just cold and wind. Highs around zero the next three days-very cold for us. We're hunkered down and have the wood stove ablazing.

We are a very happy family, especially the youngest grandson, after the Michigan achievements. If the Lions would pull this off we will be beside ourselves.

Great beginning list. Sadly,…

Great beginning list. Sadly, said list goes on and on-as does the endless pit of willing listeners.

Kind of what I thought until…

Kind of what I thought until that B1G speed blew the drawers off the SEC speed. I think we have a #1 WR on the outside.

Michigan has an elite…

Michigan has an elite coaching staff. We know some things but, in general, what we the fans know from the outside looking in is very uninformed. This roster is sneakily deep and has been uniquely developed to step up when the opportunity/need arises. The dividends that are going to be realized for playing 70-80 kids per game in lieu of beating Northwest SE University by 73 points could be quite stunning-in every good way. I am anticipating being very pleasantly surprised by the quality that arises from the unknown masses.

I/We do not know what the real roster needs are...LB has been addressed. I am unaware of the need for any other critical additions.

R Moore is a safety and that…

R Moore is a safety and that is where he will stay. There are other outstanding prospects to fill the nickel role-I hope it is Zeke.

He looks as though he could…

He looks as though he could well be Haskins but faster. The only sense I can make out of him not playing more this year was because he was being reserved in case Corum went down (again).

That's right. It was clear…

That's right. It was clear that not only had the Buckeyes' heart been ripped out, their soul had been stomped on and the life support removed. It was pretty stunning to watch it unfold right before our very eyes. They literally stopped competing.

Beating OSU in '21. "It"…

Beating OSU in '21. "It" seemed to be there earlier in the season then they, confoundedly, blew that game to MSU. I wondered when they pulled out the PSU game. But how they responded "to the bell", repeatedly, in that glorious win over OSU removed my last remnants of doubt.

Edit: I penned my response before reading any others...looks as though many pick the same game.

It is well documented that,…

It is well documented that, relative to the rules of fair play, there are "alternative" means of acquiring said talent. There are allegations...I do not know what applies here...it helps to not be investigated.

Otherwise, Saban is an elite coach.

I turn 71 in, quite…

I turn 71 in, quite literally, a couple of days. Monday set me for life. It was a stupendously glorious year...you cannot exceed 15-0...all is good.

I know a lot about athletic…

I know a lot about athletic competition and playing smart is my wheelhouse...this team confounds me. Their intelligent, disciplined play is at a level that I have never seen...game after game after game...play after play after play-they just keep making the plays. This game cannot be played to perfection-and they were far from it yet they ALWAYS maintained composure and overcame their mistakes. This is not to be taken lightly-not on the field of play nor in life beyond.

There are suggestions that this team is among consideration for being the best ever. In attempting to calculate the value of the individual components there is great doubt. "Well, we could be better here...and here and here..." But then you look at the summation of the final results and you have to say "Holy cow, this team was dominant. I don't know exactly how they got there but this was/is one incredible team." Here, the whole is surely greater than the sum of the parts.

In the end, I believe this season can most aptly be distilled down to two significant, well-three, factors: 1 and 2) Character and intelligence. I continually point people, questioning/doubting people, to the interviews of Chris, Mikey, Blake, JJ and Will...and instruct them that intelligence and character matter, matter greatly, on the athletic field. And these five may be the superstars in this category but there are many others right "below" them. JJ embracing his former teammate, the Bama OL. Jalen tracking down Penix in the tunnel to offer support. Then, the #3 that I almost let slip by: Character and intelligence transfers to play on the field for a reason-a huge, critical reason.  Michigan has an elite coaching staff. I had the great fortune of playing for a HS basketball coach who, wonderfully, put together all the components of building great teams. Elite play does not just happen by falling randomly out of the sky. Great teams are well-coached.

End of rant.

Our administration is not a…

Our administration is not a bunch of jerks. Michigan typically wins something like a third to a fourth of all the conference athletic championships...that will go down with the upcoming additions. Michigan athletics is stellar.

I do not disagree with your…

I do not disagree with your premise on the flavor of the day  but I do not agree that this, in any way, is not a reason to dislike him. I am not a fan of any obnoxious, self-aggrandizing person spewing nonsense.

This is likely a part of it…

This is likely a part of it. I am sure that he has "stretched" the rules aplenty but however he did it he did a tremendous job. My contention is that a major part of his success is his ability to rebuild his coaching staff-year after year...despite all the poaching. I think he missed this year and does not want to go through the process again-because this time poaching won't be the issue...he's going to have to fire some incompetent folks-starting with his OC.

I am a Zeke fan too-believe…

I am a Zeke fan too-believe he is going to be very good. He red-shirted and has struggled with some injuries. I still think he is going to be a player.

We  are more than a little…

We  are more than a little behind the 8-ball out here in rural Kansas. We were scheduled to go in to town and watch the game with friends and family. But this little blizzard thingy began just before game-time so we decided to hunker down at home. It wasn't long before the 30+ mph winds with gusts into the 50s knocked out electricity. We heat mostly with wood so going out there to set up the generator in that hurricane was not a necessity.  So I am still waiting for some good replay clips to come up...so that is what I am doing next. Will Mr. Devotee be putting his up?

"3" was showing up all over…

"3" was showing up all over the place...will be a prominent fixture next year.

Pat is just another CYA loud…

Pat is just another CYA loud-mouth. He has not picked Michigan to win any of their biggest games this year and has sided with the "they are cheaters" side. If Michigan would have lost He would be right back at it. For those who like him fine but to me he is simply a flavor-of-the-day guy populist.

JJ could well be Mahommes in…

JJ could well be Mahommes in a couple of years-it is difficult to tell/see in this offense. The NFL understands the realities in this regard very well and will not hesitate to take a chance if that is what they see. This young man is a leader and winner of epic proportions at the most difficult/critical position in sports. What's his record as the starting QB since HS...I forget-hasn't he only lost 2 or 3 games in his life??? His record is not some tangential accident.

All those with reasonable…

All those with reasonable aspirations of playing in the league should go. The NFL prepares a player for playing there better than college ball does. Michigan has a roster of stockpiled talent that can replace these guys. The larger (looming) question revolves around the coaching staff.

The new OL will be the…

The new OL will be the greater issue/concern.  I will not be surprised if they end up being as good or better than this year's OL but it will likely take them at least half a season to get there.

Then there are the coaching questions. IMO, either Jim is back or the transition has already begun. Either way, if the assistants that are currently there remain on staff this team has a chance to repeat.

Vance Bedford says that…

Vance Bedford says that Alabama hiring Helow is all on Bama-he was always very critical of the play of our LBs when he was "coaching" them. Vance expects Michigan to be sanctioned for not warning Bama about how awful Helow is/was!!!
