Flipped the script today.  Second half collapse happened in the first half.

I made a trip to…

I made a trip to Schembechler Hall with the intent to see the museum last year, and there was a hand-written note on the door that said that it was closed to the public "today".  I thought it was closed just for the day, then started doing some research and found that it has been pretty much closed since Covid lockdowns.  UM, at least set up a corner of the Bentley Library with some athletics memorabilia if the Towsley museum interferes too much with Schembechler Hall football activities!

I didn't mind Shepard and…

I didn't mind Shepard and even his cast of rotating commentators.  The ex-players add pretty good perspective.  Shepard obviously loves the Tigers, but did have trouble judging fly balls and sometimes let the conversations drift too far away from the game.

I wish Karsch had stayed in the sideline reporter role - his voice is just too grating for PBP.  He does have an excellent repoir with Jansen.  I think Jansen does an excellent job as color commentator, and even has the voice for a potential PBP announcer.

One other thing bothers me about Karsch.  It is petty, especially since he is on the radio, but Karsch doesn't always wear a Michigan shirt or a Michigan hat (as seen in the Inside Michigan Football postgame analysis).  Some people like broadcasters to be unbiased, but after Ufer, Beckman, and Brandstetter, I want the Michigan PBP man to be totally biased toward Michigan football!  Wear a maize or blue shirt with a Michigan logo every game, please!

The University of Central…

The University of Central Florida has 4 current and former QBs this year:

UCF: Timmy McClain (9/23 vs Kansas State: 14 for 24 for 264 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT)

Oklahoma: Dillon Gabriel (9/23 vs Cincinatti: 26 for 38 for 322 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT)

Boston College: Thomas Castellanos (9/23 vs Louisville: 17 for 33 for 265 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT)

Fresno State: Mikey Keene (9/23 vs Kent State: 24 for 31 for 325 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INT)

There were lots of people…

There were lots of people who stood up in our section for the entire first quarter.  I can understand people standing on critical downs and during critical games, but this was UNLV.  I felt bad because the couple next to us were older and couldn't stand the whole time, so they couldn't see anything and left after the first quarter and told us they weren't coming back.  They weren't irate, but you could see their disappointment and their sadness that they couldn't see the game.

My favorite is #29 Mike Bass scoring a TD off Garo Yapremian's muffed FG.  Not only was he a Wolverine, but he also was an Ypsilanti High School grad.  His mother was my algebra teacher at Ypsilanti's East Middle School in 1978.  She even got Rick Leach to visit our class!

Totally agree.  There are two walls of fame at Comerica.  The one on the left has has the Tigers in the HOF and retired numbers.  The one on the right includes other prominent Tigers such as Kell, Manuch, Cochrane, Harwell, etc.  Freehan and Lolich should be on Wall #1 and have their uniforms retired.   They MINIMALLY should be on Wall #2!

Hang in there fans!  I went to the UCF/Boise St. opening game last year in Orlando and lightning delayed the game until about 10:30pm.  I stayed until the end of the game that was around 2am.

I watched the game on ABC…

I watched the game on ABC with the sound muted and listened to the radio broadcast.  I think they really did a good job.  Improved over the spring game broadcast.  They didn't step on each other and their banter between plays was good.    For those of you who watch TV and listen to the radio, try streaming the radio over iheartradio or the WTKA website pause the TV broadcast a few seconds (if you have the option to do so) until they are in sync.

I think he does a pretty good job with football play by play.  He does several EMU games each year when they don't clash with Tiger games. Jon Jansen is a no-brainer as the color commentator.

Some gameday advice not covered above...

Be sure to check the schedule for the Citrus Bowl pep rally.  It is a great free event that many people miss while here for the game and usually takes place a day or two before the game.  This would be a good event for kids, too. The last time the Wolverines were in the Citrus Bowl, the pep rally was held at ICON park (previously known as the Orlando Eye), which is the big Ferris wheel on International Drive.  There is a free parking garage. I haven't seen whether this is where it will be held this year.   Last time, the pep rally was hosted by Jim Brandstatter and Dan Dierdorf, and Jack Harbaugh gave a great speech.  The Michigan stadium announcer was also there.  The coaches and players are not there, but the cheerleaders and band are there and you are surrounded by hundreds of fans.  Last time, both teams had their pep rallys back-to-back, so as the Michigan fans were leaving, the Gator fans were arriving.  The game trophy is displayed at the pep rally and you can get a picture taken with it.

The annual Orlando Citrus Bowl parade has been cancelled this year - unfortunately.   This parade used to be held a couple days before the game and featured the bands of the participating schools, plus several floats decorated with citrus fruit.  In the past, you could follow the Michigan band on the parade route if you wanted to hear The Victors played over and over again!   But like I said, there will be no parade this year and it is probably permanently cancelled due to funding issues.

There is a free gameday shuttle bus that traverses the downtown Orlando area known as LYMMO.  There are 3 to 4 different routes that LYMMO takes - I think the Grapefruit route is the one that goes to Camping World Stadium (AKA, the Citrus Bowl).  Taking LYMMO will allow you to park at just about any downtown Orlando parking garage and take a bus to the stadium, which is about a mile or two from the core of downtown.   Metered street parking is free on holidays, but there are very limited amounts of parking spots.  With the amount of people walking around downtown that day, and extra police, the walk from downtown to the Citrus Bowl would be a perfectly safe option.
