The "almighty" Don Brown…

The "almighty" Don Brown defensive stats are built by playing teams like Rutgers, Maryland, Northwestern and other weaklings. You hear all about the hype of the defense-especially when it is Ohio State week. Then they give up points and yardage like a MAC school. It's an illusion. Any time M plays a top tier Big 10 team, they get dominated.

The Wolverines have dropped…

The Wolverines have dropped 16 straight road or neutral-site games against teams ranked No. 15 or higher in the AP poll, including all 10 under Harbaugh. The last time the Wolverines won such a game was Jan. 3, 2012 over then-No. 11 Virginia Tech.

The money cannons were…

The money cannons were firing when Jimmie was hired. Good advice about recruiting. Until M can land a top quarterback and help him progress, there will be no CFP appearances.

Is this factored into the…

Is this factored into the magical SP? The Wolverines have dropped 16 straight road or neutral-site games against teams ranked No. 15 or higher in the AP poll, including all 10 under Harbaugh. The last time the Wolverines won such a game was Jan. 3, 2012 over then-No. 11 Virginia Tech.

Academics have nothing to do…

Academics have nothing to do with playing at Michigan or playing football anywhere in college for that matter unless you are at a military academy or the Ivy League. They actually have standards and the players are defined as student athletes. Athletes have the same standards as non athletes for admission into the schools. Ohio State cheating? Why doesn't someone report their violations? I haven't seen any NCAA violations.

Seems when Michigan can't compete at the national level it's always 3 things the fans use to rationalize losing.

1. Academics

2. We run a clean program

3. The referees were biased.

Anyone ever consider recruiting 5 star athletes might help win some games.

Sure. That's how Chase Young…

Sure. That's how Chase Young won the Bednarik award.

Yeah it was bad. So were the…

Yeah it was bad. So were the 4 turnovers that Wisconsin had.

Wow! A national championship!

Wow! A national championship!

Yeah and M won one game…

Yeah and M won one game against Ohio State after 2005.

If youn have watched Ohio…

If youn have watched Ohio State at all this year, the  first team starters have not even played in the fourth quarter and usually just the first series of second half. GET REAL! The Buckeyes have the best offense, defense and special teams when you look at combined stats. Chase Young is back along with 4 other starters on defense. This game won't even be close.

A glaring omission is a…

A glaring omission is a quarterback. Coach Harbaugh has not had a standout quarterback transfer nor has he  developed one. It's the most important position in today's game of football. Help is needed at running back also. I've been a fan for years and remember the great Michigan running backs.  Billy Taylor, Anthony Thomas, Mike Hart, and Rob Lytle-old names for sure. It has been a long time. But I have faith our coach will do better for 2020.

Some great wins against the…

Some great wins against the in-state rival. Also a team that has never been in the CFP.

Tough road game against a…

Tough road game against a team with some talent and an enthusiastic coach. I suppose he would only lose one game this year if he were our coach. I can see the defense being just a bit too much for the Indiana backup quarterback. We find  away to win but not easy M 27 Indiana 21

The three things you mention…

The three things you mention are very honorable but I doubt are in concert with the desires of the majority of Michigan fans. I wonder how many of the 110,00 fans go the game on Saturday care about seeing athletes who can hack a real academic load versus winning the conference? If Jim moves on, I suppose the next hire and his salary will reveal the desires of the athletic department and the University of Michigan. Hopefully it's consistent with the desire of the fan base. So much of the revenue to fund other sports is earned by the football team so winning is important. I think if the football team's win/loss record is not a priority, all sports programs will suffer.

Sure Jim was not brought in…

Sure Jim was not brought in to make it to the CFP. He is paid all that third highest money in the NCAA for his integrity. Clean programs and a head coach's character are important. Keeps you bowl eligible for the holiday games in December and sometimes even on January 1st. Also helps and improves the ability to recruit 5 star athletes. This also helps perpetuate the success of the program.

Yeah what are the refs…

Yeah what are the refs getting paid to make bad calls only against Michigan?

If you can remember the good…

If you can remember the good old days, Michigan had a running back that was strong and effective. A guy that could get 3-5 yards or more when needed. Think of the last time there was one like that. Has there been an Anthony Thomas or Chris Perry  lately?  In the mean time, we see people like Melvin Gordon, Ezekiel Elliott, Jonathan Taylor, Detroit's own Mike Weber and others lighting up the NCAA and they are not wearing maize and blue uniforms.

Exactly correct. The defense…

Exactly correct. The defense getting burned on long pass plays didn't help either. If this is not corrected, the deficit against Notre Dame will be much greater than 14 points.

The "big" name of Harbaugh…

The "big" name of Harbaugh does not win big games. He's had 5 years. What if he's 0-5 against our rival down south? I'm tired of trying to defend him. His road record against ranked teams speaks for itself. It ain't the name that wins games-it's schemes, preparation, and recruiting. Jim is maybe 1 for 3 in those categories.

Much of getting ready for…

Much of getting ready for your opponent is mental preparation. This is done by the coaching staff. And it usually starts in pee wee football and continues through the professional ranks.

Not living up to his…

Not living up to his paycheck  either.

Defense has improved but you…

Defense has improved but you can't say the same about the offense. Unless they can score more, this season is not going to be a success. Penn State, Notre Dame and Ohio State all put up a lot of points.

No one in Ohio wants to see…

No one in Ohio wants to see Harbaugh leave.

Take Iowa-they will win the…

Take Iowa-they will win the game and the points are a bonus.

If you want to see fake refs…

If you want to see fake refs just tune in to any NFL game and wait for a replay.

A loss to Iowa should put M…

A loss to Iowa should put M back to about 28. Then a beat down by ND will end all the lingering false hope of a respectable season. Hopefully Jimmy stays a couple more years to assure Ohio State dominance.

Great to judge Haskins…

Great to judge Haskins career in the NFL on one game.

Another reference would be…

Another reference would be OSU versus Michigan last year.

Yeah all 50 of his…

Yeah all 50 of his touchdowns last year were screen passes.

Yeah that 62-39 pasting last…

Yeah that 62-39 pasting last year was bad. It's too Jabril couldn't experience a win against Ohio State.

OL coach from OSU

Warriner will do just fine as the O line coach. The offensive productivity was high at OSU when Tom Herman was making the play calls. He gets a lot of the credit for the high scoring offense. Now if only michigan could hire Urban Meyer.

Running game cripples the team

The lack of a running game has crippled the entire team. When has a michigan running back rushed for a 1,000 yards in a season? Until the offensive line can block and a back can run consistently for 80-120 yards per game, the passing game alone is not going to lead to 9 wins in a season. Add to that problem receivers dropping passes like last year, a defense which can't stop an opponent in the second half because it's exhausted and you have another 8 win season orchestrated by high piced Harbaugh. Another middle of the pack finish that michigan is known for since Carr left.

Defense winning games

How many games did the defense win last year? For Michigan-not the opponents.

Immediate eligibility

Too bad Jimmy can't recruit and develop a quarterback. This wouldn't be in the hands of the NCAA.

Eagles

Don't count the Eagles out. Good defense, good offense, and good coaches. If they get heat on Brady, the Pats could fall.

Dakich

He didn't get any playing time. Who knew if he was a gamer? Ohio State gave him an opportunity and he has made good on it. Don't be angry with him, sitting on the bench wasn't his idea.

Academic criteria

This would be important if you were recruiting participants in a quiz bowl. We are talking about athletes-specifically football players. The michigan difference really shows in the NFL. Michigan puts approximately 15% of the players in the league compared to Ohio State. And if you think mighty michigan has the same admission requirments for football as the rest of the student population, you are sadly mistaken.

10% raise for Coach Harbaugh

The bowl failure and continuing losses to Ohio State and Michigan State didn't have an effect on Harbaugh's salary. I just read today Jim will get an additional $500,000 to make his salary $5.5 million for next year. According to Mlive, this was all built into his initial contract and not a reflection of the team's 8-5 record this season.

Another referee loss

This was on the officials. Every time we lose, it's the fault of the referees. When we win, it's because we outplayed the opponent.

Turnover problems

No matter what offense you run, turning the ball over 5 times usually results in a loss. Peters threw interceptions because he's inexperienced. The fumbles and muffed punt were just bad mistakes that shouldn't happen this late in the season. Oh well, there's always next year and a more difficult schedule with Notre Dame and Northwestern. Plus the usual problems with MSU and Ohio State.

A better question is if it's

A better question is if it's so effective, then why doesn't Harbagh use it??

How M lost

Against  MSU the offense was ineffective and the defense was worn down being on the field too long,. Against OSU, the offense had too many turnovers and the defense was worn down due to a lack of sustained drives by the offense. Wisconsin had too much on offense and the defense could not stop both the running and passing games. Once again, the offense did not sustain long drives that lead to touchdowns. The theme in losses has been the same-a lack of effective offense (not enough drives resuting in TD's.)  A Michigan running game would have been a great help. Hard to maintain a lead when you turn the ball over and do not have long drives.

Well there's your problem

He should be given 5 years and then evaluated. See how he does after the year he fields a team that is a group of seniors he has recruited. Then you can evaluate his recruiting, development, and coaching. In the meantime, keep complaining-it will make you feel better.
