Seems like a good hire to me.  Saben hired him three times and he can get any assistant he wants.

Hiring anyone is a crap…

Hiring anyone is a crap shoot.  Saben hired him 3 times and he can hire any assistant he wants.  It looks like a solid hire, but only time will tell.

Agreed.  The offense line was

Agreed.  The offense line was horrable.  I think we had 3-4 sacks in the first half.

You mean more choke jobs like

You mean more choke jobs like Peoples Jones?

We as fans get inundated with

We as fans get inundated with all the recruiting, preseason, coahing and everyday media hype so they can sell subscriptions and get tv and radio ratings.  We get hype weather we deserve it or not, because the media makes money from eyeballs and Michigan has more than just about any program.

We as fans buy into the hype and why wouldn't we?  Who doesn't want to hear how good thier team is going to be.

The truth is the other schools hire good coahes and have just as many scholarships as we do.  The only thing many of them don't have is the massive fan base Michigan has, so they don't get the media hype.

So are we underachiving?  Look who is setting the standard.  The media and they just want to make money off the Michigan fan base.  An argument could be made that this team overachived.

With all the talent on last

With all the talent on last years team and how that team performed in the in big games, why are people suprised in this years melt downs?

Our offensive line turned two

Our offensive line turned two human statues into hospital patients this year.  We need someone that can move a little.

I would be shocked if it

I would be shocked if it wasn't Patterson.  Peters didn't show me anything to be excited about.  If McCafferty is the real deal he should be number two by mid season but Harbaugh likes guys with experience.

The guy that is getting the

The guy that is getting the biggest raw deal is McCafferty.  Harbaugh goes with guys that have experience (O'Korn), and McCafferty has none.  Instead of getting second team snaps next year he will be pretty much in the same boat as he was this year, except he will have two incomming freshmen to share time with.

The reality is Michigan

The reality is Michigan brought in a stud QB to guide the team next year.  Sure there will be a competition but we all know who will be starting next year.  This is all show.  Have any of you ever been passed over for a promotion and your company brought someone in from the outside for a job you were lined up to get?

I think most of us at some time in our career have been there, and it totally sucks.  Now your not going to unload on your boss and quit right away.  The smart thing to do is put your tail between your legs and start looking for another job.

Now college football players are kind of like indentured servents, so these guys may be more inclined to stick it out.  However, actions speak louder than words and it's pretty clear the coaching staff felt the QB position needed an imediate upgrade which does't speek well for those already on the roster.

They are the most Lucky

They are the most Lucky program I have ever seen.

Speight broke bones in his

Speight broke bones in his neck.  Can you imagine what would happen if he came back and injured his neck again and suffered some sort of parralasis?  He might have been told to retire and instead he is transfering.

Whatever the case, I think the injury is the reason he is leaving.

The Michgan players you

The Michgan players you mention were pretty shown the door or left on there own accord.

From what I can tell we are trying to recruit guys still attending these schools.  It just seems like we are acting like a trial lawyer rushing to bad automobile accidents.

The other thing, more often than not, transfers don't work out and can hurt the moral of the players currently on the team.

This just seems like something MSU or Illinois would do and not Michigan.  We still pretty much get the pick of our high schools recruits and it makes me wonder what the staff has really recruited over the last few years to go this route.

I want to win just as bad as

I want to win just as bad as everyone else, but we seem to be losing something by scavanging at the carcus of some of these schools?

Well he sure fired up

Well he sure fired up everyone on this board.

Fire up the rivalry.  Fire up

Fire up the rivalry.  Fire up your team.  Win the game.

You already have a non

You already have a non official playoff system with the conferance championships.  Just institue a rule you have to be a conferance champion to get into the playoff.  Alabama didn't even win thier division and they are in the Playoff? ????

I think USC, OSU and UCF got hosed.

Sure there is some luck in

Sure there is some luck in winning against equal or better competition.  However, there are some coaches that make the right decisions at the right time, and others make the wrong decisions at the wrong times.

Dantonio made some great decisions over the years by taking changes.  Little giants against ND was just one of many ballsy calles that won huge games for MSU.  The guy isn't just lucky.

In the fumble game, Dantionio had every player rushing the punter and we had two players outside to tackle a punt returner who wasn't there.  That was not luck, that was good coaching and bad coaching.

Same thing with the monsoon game.  One coach ran the ball and the other tried to pass in a monsoon.

Meyer's record speaks for itself.  He has won a ton of big games.

Franklin is still an open question, he took a recovering team decimated with recruiting sancions, and won the Big Ten last year.  Sure MSU was down but he still did it.  We'll see how he does with out McSorley who can make an average team very good.

Bottom line is, the Big Ten east has some really good coaches and they can make a difference.  You are what your record says you are.  If you look at it objectivly, we are in 4th place and haven't won a game against a team with a winning record since October of last year.

I think the most shocking

I think the most shocking thing about this discussion is that so many people think Michigan Football will live and die with Jim Harbaugh.

This is the most winning program in NCAA history and has spectacular facilities and resources.  The coaching ranks are full of good coaches that could do an excllent job at Michigan.

I'm not calling for anyone to be on the hot seat, but to think that Michigan will become like Minnesota because of a coaching change is just crazy.

It hasn't seemed to hurt

It hasn't seemed to hurt Wisconsin.

Are we a favorite in any ot

Are we a favorite in any of the tough games with our QB situation?  We will be going against McSorley, Lerwenke, Hornibrook  and the kid from OSU.  I don't even know who the ND QB  is so I can't comment on him.

But right now, all the teams above have at least a better, or a much better QB than us.  I'm afraid without better QB play we will be in the same boat next year that we were in this year.  Now if we can get some good QB play we will be in all these games.  How many we win is anyone's guess but I would say 50%.

Over the entire year I would

Over the entire year I would agree with most of your ranking.  However, the reality is the schedule  this year was very, very soft and our defensive and offensive stats are probably a little better then they should be.

What is that old saying, you are what your record says you are.   We finished 5-4 in the Big Ten, and didn't beat a team with a winning record.  We were a very, very average Big Ten team.  Nothing more and nothing less.

So if we are going to give out grades. the total has to equal the record of team in league play.  In that case the eteam gets a C+.  To reach this I think every position needs to be bumped down from half to a full grade lower.

I would give the offensive line a D.  They were getting our QB's killed against good defenses. The defense as a whole faded from about midway in the third quarter on, in all the games we lost.

That being said we have a lot of young guys that have another year to get stronger and better.  Hopefully in can transfer to some wins against good teams next year.

.

I don't see why this is a

I don't see why this is a surprise to anyone. He probably is ready to get his degree and he knows he's not good enough for the NFL. With three broken bones in his back why risk further injury?

At any rate at, least we get some clarity.

Nobody is arguning our QB's

Nobody is arguning our QB's are good.  However, that falls on Harbaugh.  OSU ran a RS Freshmen out there today and he killed us.  Where the hell is Harbaughs answer?

Don't tell me that Peters is as good as that OSU kid.

So it's John O'Korn's fault

So it's John O'Korn's fault we haven't been able to beat a team with a winning record since last October?

That's just total BS.

That's just total BS.

So how do you guys explain

So how do you guys explain the defensive collape against a Freshmen QB?

The defense gave up 17

The defense gave up 17 unanswered points when the Freshmen QB had to take over.  Unbelievable!

13 of the last 14!  How does

13 of the last 14!  How does that happen?

The offensive line just waved

The offensive line just waved at the OSU players on there way to the eQB.

Redshirt FRESHMEN QB and the

Redshirt FRESHMEN QB and the defense folds like a house of cards.

OK, we need a big play.

OK, we need a big play.

Ohio State pash rush has

Ohio State pash rush has really picked up the last few possesions.

Dropping that interception

Dropping that interception was killer.

They need more TV

They need more TV commercials.

Defense scores.

Defense intercepts Barrett three times and scoes one TD.  Michigan 17 OSU 10.

I know these guys move for the money but

these coaches were successfull in there previous stops and abandoned what they buildt for what they thought were greener pastures.  The reality is when anyone takes a new job, you don't know what your walking into.  The politics, competition, and countless other variables effect the product on the field.  Just ask Rich Rod.

Modern football schedules
Modern football schedules suck.  Go back and look at schedules from 30 years ago and you don't see many games against directional schools.   When you bought your season tickets you still had to endure Illinois, Indiana and Northwestern and maybe one nonconference cupcake.  Today it's the same, but add another cupcake, Rutgers and Maryland.   Everyone in the Big Ten has added three "lousy" games.

Thank God we added ND back on the schedule.  We actually have something to look forward to in the first four weeks.  This is suppose to be about entertainment.  Below is the 1986 schedule.

If we still played schedules like this, I wouldn't have given up my season tickets.

Lastly when people compare today's coaching staff against staffs back in the day, give me a break.  The schedules back then were way tougher.  Winning 10 or 11 games back then actually ment something.

I read somewhere he was so

I read somewhere he was so popular doing the Partridge Family that he literally couldn't go anywhere and quite the show to try and get his life back.

This is nuts!

You people have lost your minds.  Just plant another money tree next to Michigan Stadium?  Can we beat OSU first?

Beat OSU and we will talk.

Beat OSU and we will talk.

Any of the above.

O'Korn -  the tranfer he brought has been a bust and not even on the same planet as Wilson.

Gentry - Playing TE,  QB recruiting bust.

Malzone - QB recruiting bust.

Peters - He's proven he can hand the ball off to runing backs and that's about it.  The jury is                    still out but nothing to get excited about so far.

McCaffery - Freshmen who can't beat out Peters and O'Korn this late in the year. OK, OK,  I know he is a freshmen, but it's not like freshmen don't start on teams with QB issues midway or late in the season.  That's not to say he can't be very good someday, but the coaches must not see rock star or else he would be in there.

That's five QB's that he has brought in and things look pretty damn bleek.

I'm sorry but look at MSU,

I'm sorry but look at MSU, they have two true freshmen and two sophmores starting on their OL, and can still pass block.  News flash, this is 2017 a lot of freshmen start these days even at QB (hint, hint).

I know I'm going to catch shit for this, but O'Korn was fed to the Lions agains MSU, PSU and Wiscy.  These are all excellent defenses that gang raped our OL and had O'Korn running for his life most of the time.  It wasn't his fault he was asked to throw the ball in a monsoon with defenders all over him against MSU.  He didn't drop two first down passes late against Wisky.

O'Korn is not that good but he's not that bad either.  However, he has a ton of experience, and I think  gives us a better chance against OSU than Peters.   He can at least scramble, and we know against OSU our QB will not be able to camp out in the pocket and wait for receivers to get open.

Peters is a big tall and lumbering QB just like Wilton   If you put the same uniform on Wilton and Peters, you could not tell the difference on and off the field.

Yep to many cooks in the Kitchen.

People can blame the assistnat coaches all they want but they are running the offense the boss is telling them to run.  He is also making all these personell decisions so the buck starts and stops with him.

Everytime they cut to Jim on TV he has a headset on and can over rule any play call or call any play he wants at any time.  He is also the guy that recruited this QB mess.

The bottom line is this offense has several issues that need to be addressed and Harbaugh needs to look at everything, including himself.

I believe that we are running

I believe that we are running the same power offense that was run at Stanford.  However, back then, I think Stanford was the only power running team in the PAC 12.  They were the anomoly offense in a league of soft run defenses that were built to stop the spread offenses of the day.

Fast forward to running that offense today in the Big Ten.  Almost every team is built on the power running game.  Defense are built to stop the power running game that we use.  Running this type of offense is this league means they are the norm and not the anomoly.

I think this coaching staff needs to reasses this scheme.  It isn't working.

It's bad enough the program

It's bad enough the program has floundered all these years but chances are anyone betting on us has lost there shirt.  It's a good thing l don't live in Vegas.

After reading all these post

After reading all these post the only thing I can say is we are what are record is.  We are the winningist team in the hisorty of division one football.  I'm sorry but I'm not going to judge a coaches success at Michigan on his record against Rutgers, Maryland, Indiana and some cupcake non conferance games.   These are givens.

It's all about the success against the contenders and teams with a .500 or better record.   At the very least a coach at Michigan should win at least 70% of these games.  If this isn't happening then someone has to make some hard decisions because we won't be competing at a Big Ten Championships level let alone a National Championship.  Isn't that the goal?

OSU is beatable as OU and

OSU is beatable as OU and Iowa showed.  Personally, I think O'Korn gives us just as much a chance to win as Peters.  I thnk Peters is a little better passer (which isn't saying much) but O'Korn can make things happen with his legs.

We need Barrett to have an off day.  If he is on and doesn't turn the ball over, forget about it.  If he is off and throws a few int's, maybe we can get a few short field TD's.

The coaching staff has to bring thier A game.  For once, I would like to see our staff outcoach one of our rivals.  This is no longer an inexperienced team, they have a full season under there belt.  Make some plays and stop the mental errors.
