I feel safe demanding a walk…

I feel safe demanding a walk-through statue garden with stations like:

  • Harbaugh playing peruball shirtless in pastey white dad-bod
  • Harbaugh climbing a tree, and at a sleepover
  • Harbaugh visiting Schembechler's grave with Ohio St looming in the near distance
  • Harbaugh running a football camp in Alabama
  • Harbaugh working on a white board full of slogans like "1% better today than yesterday, 1% better tomorrow than today", or "known friend and trusted agent"
  • Harbaugh gifting the Pope a winged helmet
  • Harbaugh paying for a cheeseburger
  • Harbaugh showing Brown & Gattis the door, and hiring Minter & Moore
  • Harbaugh sitting out a game, watching it on tv
  • Harbaugh repeating the peruball pose, but with the natty trophy

just ideas.

Captures my feelings too.  I…

Captures my feelings too.  I watch every Bama game with my Bama-fan wife, and they seem to have a tenacity straight through the last seconds of a game that B1G teams lack, or rarely need to deliver.

Plus years of cruitin', good second half adjustments, and it seems like they get away with murder as far as uncalled PI/holds.  I don't think going into this game as high-minded gentlemen gets you the win, and I'm nervous.

Do private investigators…

I *just* curious... what…

I *just* curious... what happens if M decides to forfeit remaining games, in terms of tv revenue to the B1G?

That's a lot like stabbing yourself in the heart to tease that you're getting blood on your enemy's nice clean carpet, and I'm not serious about that -- but I am interested in knowing what would air on tv if the game were cancelled?  Who would sue who?

Harbaugh has to walk a fine line, people on either side gonna be upset.

1. Must keep personal brand up to help recruiting, negotiating, attracting players and coaches. At that level of college coaching, pro is the only bigger pool to dip a toe in.

2. Must not hurt program by too-serious actions toward leaving, must keep focus on winning, recruiting, not being a prima donna narcissist hurting coaching operations, must put up with negative recruiting and microscopic critique by errrrybody with an armchair opinon.

Not a job I'd want.

Archie is a good guy, just…

Archie is a good guy, just from before modern tv coverage.  The Manning family used to (still does?) run football camps in the summer.  My wife's family is all Alabama alums, one of her uncles is a former Bama player - and played against Manning once (Bama won).  His son tried to register for a Manning football camp the day signups opened, but missed the cut-off.  His dad called the org. and left a message asking about getting on a wait list for cancellations, and didn't figure they'd hear back, so to needle them a bit (Manning played for Ole Miss), signed off with "Roll Tide".

Archie Manning personally called him back a few hours later and said they'd get him in and joked "even though you said 'Roll Tide'" and then found out they'd played each other and talked old football days for half an hour.  Just a good family all around, from what I've heard.

Props Seth (do kids still say props?).  That's a LOT of review for a Hawai'i game.  I admit I usually skip the per-play charting and just read the dialogue, and even THAT seems like it's going to take most of a week to totally absorb.

"The best router" depends on…

"The best router" depends on your criteria... area of coverage, speed, cost, built-in-features, etc.

Generally, I tend to go with whatever TheWirecutter recommends ( https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-wi-fi-router/ )... but I do disagree with them at the high end, where I like Asus and they like TP-Link.  Asus in my experience has better features/controls AND 3rd party firmwares, if you really want to customize.

Then again, I paid a stupid amount for my router, am an IT guy, added switches for more wired connections anyway, run multiple wifi networks for kids, VPN, parental controls, auto-changing passwords, etc.

If you don't nerd like I do.. the TP-Link Archer A7 will probably be fine at $65.

Shaving things are my go-to…

Shaving things are my go-to for mens' gifts.  It can make an ordinary necessity feel more special/luxurious.

If they're not already "into" shaving (more than Gillete Mach-whatever and can of foam), here's an inexpensive beginner kit to get started- https://www.maggardrazors.com/product/maggard-razors-basic-starter-kit/ It can be customized, and there's also higher-end straight-razors, brushes, and shaving soaps there.  They just put out a newsletter from them that has sales/specials going on... https://mailchi.mp/maggardrazors/5nov?e=0393cfb685

I am kind of a shill for that place (wife works there) but I also honestly wouldn't mention it if they weren't a great store with stuff I would consider giving as this kind of gift anyway.

Congrats/good luck

Really liked the ending of…

Really liked the ending of TURN: Washington's Spies

Not "happy" but nice closure.

You hush with your pessimism… You hush with your pessimism. The least Equifax can do is pay for a game ticket for me. After all, I had to go laboriously sign up for Credit Karma.
I've used Playstation Vue… I've used Playstation Vue for 2 years without serious issues - but I did have to run a wired connection to the devices for it to be reliable. Wifi connections buffered and pixelated too much to be tolerable. Was planning to switch to YTTV this year until I learned that the Gen1 and Gen2 FireTV devices I already have do not have access to the YTTV app yet (Google and Amazon may have buried the hatchet, but not all devices have gotten a build for it yet). Looks like I'll be on PlayStation Vue again this fall unless there's a really compelling case to buy a somewhat redundant Roku. Was your connection wired (or at least the same) on both services, and Youtube was just better? Thanks
OTOH, Comcast kept raising…

OTOH, Comcast kept raising my effective rate by adding and increasing fees, while keeping the base rate for my tv subscription the same.  They also have a 1024gb/mo cap on my data connection.  They also snoop/throttle traffic, blackmailed Netflix, etc.  By the time I quit them, I was up to 146/mo for comcast (50mbps internet, basic channels, 1 hd box, 1 converter).  The advertised rate was $110.

2 years ago I kicked Comcast/XFinity to the curb and switched to a small local internet fiber provider. $82/mo for 50mbps.  During CFB season I used PS Vue over wifi to watch tv and my wife threatened to leave me over buffering, pixelation, skips, etc.

1 year ago I bit on the Comcast "baby come back, I've changed" offer for 150mbps internet for $45/mo.  I knew better than to trust the skank, but dang, that price tho.  So I took internet only, no tv.  To stay out of divorce court, I added a 2nd wifi router on the other side of the house and connected our FireTVs by ethernet instead of wifi.  PS Vue again and no major buffering/pixelation issues.  Without TV Comcast didn't have HD/converter/broadcast/outlet fees to add, and it's been a pretty good term.

The Comcast offer is ending. My internet-only rate will go to $80/mo.  In December I broke the data cap for the first time (kids were out of school for 3 weeks) but without extra charges because it was one of 2 "grace" events they grant you.  If I had to pay for that, it would've been +$50 that month.  In May they called and offered the same speed + no TV, BUT with comcast streaming service (locals, sports, etc): $90/mo with 24 month contract and $250 early term fee. Data cap stays in effect.

Local fiber provider (D&P Comm, Adrian, MI) then quoted me $40/mo for 75mbps, fiber, no tv, no data caps, counting a $10 discount for having my own router, and $20/mo "new customer" discount for a year.  No contract/termination.  So I'm switching again.  If 75mbps isn't enough, I can get 175mbps for $50/mo.  Internet plus a streaming package will come out to the same cost as Comcast, but I cancel the streaming package for half the year, which isn't a Comcast option, so I come out ahead long-term.

My big question to solve is: Is YoutubeTV "better enough" than PS Vue to switch?  I have FireTV devices which don't currently support YTV, so I may have to get Rokus or something instead.  I like the FireTV boxes because I ran run kodi on them, and that gets used a lot.

Anyone had both PS Vue and YTV on wired connections and notice a worthwhile difference?

OK, it's football off-season...  Can I please, PLEASE get the ability to up/down vote back?  Can someone devote a little time to that for me? I've got 690-something points, but I still don't see the up/down vote options, except in other people's screenshots of what they see.

Feel free to neg me down to 499 then bump me back over 500 and see if it resets.  Feel free to neg me down to negative-whatever, then bump me back up and see if that's what it takes.  Abuse my account like the red-headed step child I am, I do not mind.  Otherwise this site will continue sliding off my frequent visits, when I otherwise used to visit 5+ times every day, even if I didn't comment, even when the posts were about freaking draftageddon.

Thanks.

An uncle on my wife's side…

An uncle on my wife's side played at Alabama in the 1960's.  He has said even then, it wasn't unusual for a fishing boat to show up on dad's front lawn after the kid had big plays in the previous game.  There were thick envelopes being distributed at post-game tailgates, fraternities who didn't have to buy their beer, sweetheart jobs, amazing deals on cars, etc.

To this day, there are rich alumni "boosters" surrounding every program, and things coaches decide are none of their business to know.

Honestly, I want to see them…

Honestly, I want to see them come through a close half and then win.  Pre-season confidence scares me.  I feel a lot better after I see them struggle and then overcome - I used to love the confidence of "they're a second-half team" I had when I was a kid and Bo was the coach, and they often came from behind to win.

My Bama-fan wife (born there, can't help it) will make some horrible Appalachia State jibe at me from time to time.  I just point out to her that in the same year, Alabama lost to ULM, and Saban was the coach then, too.

So I think they were more vulnerable then than now, personally.
