I'm an Arsenal fan and if…

I'm an Arsenal fan and if the Premier cancels the season, then they go back to last year's table for Champions League football qualification.  They finished 5th which means they didn't qualify but because of Man City's ban, Arsenal gets in.  Wasn't looking great this year as they sit in 9th.  Still possible to get to 5 but don't control their own destiny.

A couple of Bruce Willis…

A couple of Bruce Willis movies for me.

#1 Lucky Number Slevin - with the cast that it has, I have no idea how it's so under the radar, but the action and comedic effect combined with how the plot comes together is amazing.  Extremely violent, but a must watch if.

#2 The Whole Nine Yards - I think one of my all time favorite comedies but rarely ever see it mentioned.

Back in 2012, was flying…

Back in 2012, was flying into Oklahoma City, landed and as we were walking into the FBO, a Hummer, Escalade, and Camaro all pull up. A bunch of tall guys get out and realized it was the Oklahoma City Thunder heading to Miami for the second half of the finals. So got to meet Kevin Durant, Westbrook and James Harden.

Last year, my son and I went to a US-France U-20 game. After the game we were hanging around trying to get autographs for my son and all of a sudden this van starts backing up and almost runs us over. We move out of the way and I see a guy walk out of where the stands were surrounded by 4 other guys and caught a glimpse and realized it was Zinedine Zidane. I shouted and asked if he could sign my son's ball and he said yes, so my son and I walked over to him and signed it for him. Wish I had gotten a picture of my son with him, but could tell he didn't want to be bothered too much.

This question has been asked…

This question has been asked several times on here and I think the answer is pretty simple and that's just that those other countries don't care about women's soccer.  I live in Spain and I remember going to my son's first soccer practice and talking to one of the other parents about whether or not his daughter will play soccer when she gets older and he looked at me like I'm crazy.  This isn't the only time that this has happened.

Another example - on Monday, I bet 4 people that the US would beat Spain without divulging that it was in the women's World Cup (one of the people was a female).  All accepted not even knowing that Spain was playing the #1 team in the world in the World Cup.  This was a far cry from what was going on during the men's World Cup.  So if they do start to care about women's soccer even half as much as they do about men's soccer, it won't be long before they are at or above our level.

Last year, Weah played a few…

Last year, Weah played a few Ligue 1 games for PSG. The fact that we have a 19 year old playing Ligue 1 games for the number 1 French team is unprecedented.  The fact that these kids are just in the systems they're in should give us excitement.  Sorry my words didn't match exactly what I said.  But I would say that Joe Milton plays for Michigan.  So we don't always need the "Exact Sentiment for Every Word that We say Police" here all the time.

Humblebrag alert.  I got to…

Humblebrag alert.  I got to watch basically these exact two teams play to a draw in a friendly a few months ago. The US came back from 2-0 to tie on te last play. Tab Ramos has done a great job with them and the fact that when have three young players that play with PSG Ajax and Barcelona (Weah Dest and de la Fuente) would be unheard of. It always seems like our future is bright but the talent is there like never before.

Wife’s birthday is the 19th…

Wife’s birthday is the 19th. Anniversary is the 26th. Also if she needs anything, she usually just buys it. I usually come up with something good for the birthday then just have to gift card it. Doesn’t go well

100% true and humble brag

I met Zidane at the US U20 game that he went to watch in March. So I’m pretty sure that he was scouting them as a prelude to taking over this summer. This could be the only possible explanation.

That or his son plays for the U20 France team that the US team was playing

Ummmm

So I’m not real good at counting, but...

Yes

Yes pfholland and Mcdoomsbutt already posted it. Ba-dum-ch!

Sorry. I'll show myself out.

Wow

Dude all sorts of things wrong with this post. But all just mention 2. First off, it's about commitment. If you're not willing to stop smoking weed to play football, then priorities aren't right to be a D1 athlete. Secondly, i don't think we want Michigan doing anything modeled after the Baylor football program.

Cooking tortillas

Corn tortillas - flash fry them in cooking oil.

Flour - toast them on a cast iron griddle (called a comal by my Mexican grandma, has a permanent spot on the back left burner of her stove)

Was the right call

I'm watching the Dodgers broadcast and Orel Hershiser is calling the game. FWIW, he wholeheartedly agreed with manager Dave Roberts' decision.

Taken out of context and with hindsight 20/20, it doesn't make much sense. It is not so much about the 100 pitches, but the fact that in the 8th inning, the pitcher had just walked the tying run onto base. It was a walk that didn't even look like a battle. Roberts assessed that his pitcher was struggling and that, along with the fact his pitcher is in his debut and hasn't ever gone this deep in a while, the manager went to the 'pen. As the Giants just won the game, it was clearly the wrong call, but at the time, it was a correct call.

TLC

Don't go chasing them. Not sure what I should stick to though

disagree

Bobby Newcombe was a big time recruit who went to Nebraska as a QB (was #40 if I remember correctly) but was beat out by Eric Crouch. Also Landry Jones was a big recruit out of Artesia when he went to Oklahoma. Only big name QBs I can think of though.

Stewart shouldn't be overlooked

I had never heard of Stewart before but the guy plays for Denver this year. So he has enough talent to make an NFL roster. This shows more depth of Harbaugh's recruiting and/or development.

I can't help but laugh thinking of Lou Holtz saying that.

Lest we forget

Pretty sure he recruited Troy Aikman.  And he's like Whitey McWhiterson.

agree somewhat

I think we all feel that way sometimes, until that time where the internet on your phone is running slow and you just want to see the up to date score...then we all scream about how life sucks.

Texas Bowl here I come!!!

On the way to Reliant in Houston to watch the Texas Bowl. Should be a good game and at least it doesn't have a stupid sponsor name. Let's go Orange!

I'm normally very positive

I'm not sure if I missed it that someone already mentioned this but...the call that absolutely baffles me is the timeout after the Robinson catch at the 1.  They have the ball at the 1 with 30 seconds left.  I'm thinking they are going to score.  At which point, you're going to have to put a drive together to score.  If Michigan still has that timeout, they don't have to work the sidelines to Hayes for the 52 yarder but could have used the middle of the field to make it a MUCH more makeable 45 yarder (Gibbons' kick would have been good from there).  As Michigan drove down for that FG at the end of the 4th, I couldn't help but think, over and over again, man that timeout would be nice to have right now.

Newhall Hart is a pretty good football school

I knew Matt Moore (former UCLA and Oregon State and current NFL backup) had gone there, but also former first round draft pick Kyle Boller. Of note Wikipedia reveals that Zack Morris went there as well and not Bayside.

Spoke too soon

They just compared Tommy Rees to Peyton Manning. I guess that's a fair comparison (says no one who knows anything about football).

You remember incorrectly

Heath Shuler wore 21 at Tennessee. Also former Lions QB Stoney Case wore 25 at New Mexico

Not so fast my friend

I think you're underestimating the Syracuse horse in the KJ Williams race.  First off, his cousin is an already committed quarterback.  Also, he "hails" from the same high school as current 'Cuse WR Jarrod West and they have a pretty good relationship.

Last time I checked

I'm pretty sure the Heisman favorite is in College Station not Columbus

Kind of a pet peeve of mine

But Adrian Peterson's nickname is actually AD not AP. It stands for All Day because his mother said he used to run around "All Day". You may now return to your regularly scheduled program.

Somebody

Get that guy a Team 136 t-shirt!

For what it's worth

I live in San Antonio, about two and a half hours from College Station.  Granted, I'm in the military, but I did an informal poll at work.  A little less than half of the people knew who Denard was, about a quarter of them knew who Swope was.  Everyone who knew who Swope was knew who Denard was.  Even a couple A&M grads couldn't tell me who Swope was.

Rich get richer

This is a guy who should have been getting a raise at FIU. Great hire for Bama.

Texas

As a Texas resident, I feel A&M falls into this category. It may change a little now that they're in the SEC but most seem more concerned about UT rather than how their team is doing. A lot of them even have logos on their truck windows of a longhorn with his horns "sawed off". Meanwhile Texas seems more concerned about Oklahoma (kind of like UM with Ohio).
