I’ve read that one theory why children are responding better to infection with Cov-2 Is that they’re more used to fighting coronaviruses, as they cause several versions of the common cold, and are typically passed amongst children at much greater frequency than adults. Might lend some credence to what you say above, but who knows. I’m a chemist, damnit, not a virologist!
Ha... that's great. So to bring this full circle, Chimay makes their own brand of cheese. It's absolutely incredible but also nearly impossible to find.
The most consistent way I've been able to do it is to find a local vendor (grocery store, liquor store, etc.) that you know gets shipments of the rare stuff. Then become a loyal customer. Make other purchases there. Chat up the owner or beer/wine department head, etc. I've had really good luck that way, not only for beer, but for rare bourbons and scotches. One more thing: are you sure Russian River ships to CO?
And, if you're really nuts like me, you can always make a pilgramage. I went all the way to Amsterdam to get my hands on some Westvleteren 12.
The Earle is great, as is Mikette on the north side of town. Taking my wife to Standard Bistro and Larder tonight for her birthday. Very much looking forward to that.
Grilling burgers tomorrow, smoking a pork butt on Sunday, getting my cholesterol/triglycerides checked on Tuesday. Toss in some beer, bourbon, and garden planting for good measure.
I was a bouncer at Scorekeeper's in 1997-98. Lots of long nights turning away horrible fake IDs and getting NYPD pizza at 4 AM. Good times, those.
Like Ashley's, Skeep's was a beer bar before beer bars were a thing. I always appreciated that. Didn't appreciate the unique odor that seemed to permeate from my very soul after a shift at that place, though.
My wife and I had our twins at Mott last year. The level of care at that facility simply blew me away. We had our first child at Royal Oak Beaumont (no slouch, either) and there was really no comparison.
Here's to a long and healthy life for your little nephew! Go Blue!
This thread is fantastic. Some of my favorites: Four Roses Single Barrel, Wild Turkey Rare Breed, Booker’s, Blanton’s, Smooth Ambler Old Scout 10 year.
89X was literally a treasure trove of great Canadian music. So many underrated bands... The Hip, Sloan, The Gandharvas, etc. I feel fortunate to have grown up in the shadow of their airwaves. RIP Gord. Thanks for the music.
Yeah, I don't really get the Pappy obsession. Like you said, it's good, but not THAT good. I think the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (which, yeah, good luck getting a bottle of one of those, too) is better.
I've had Whistle Pig. Like the Pappy, it's good, but I find it to be overpriced. I enjoy both Michter's and Willett, and Bulleit isn't bad either, if you're looking for a cheaper option. If you ever see Thomas H. Handy Rye (again, from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection), do yourself a favor and order a glass. Hands down the best rye, and one of the best whiskeys, I've ever tasted.

In My Time of Dying is so good it’s stupid.
Sorry, was specifically speaking to the one who likes country music. Sturgill is about as old school as it gets. He’ll dig it.
Have you introduced your son to Sturgill Simpson? If not, I suggest you do so.

A lot of electronica, primarily Daft Punk and Holy Fuck. Today I did a deep dive into the Sloan catalog, which was great.
Great choice! Four Roses is delicious.
Ditto.
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. Total multiverse mindf*ck.
Underland by Robert Macfarlane. Nonfiction, but one of the most beautifully written books I’ve ever read.
Read that series last year. So good. Loved the sociopolitical undertones.

Proven wrong in regards to what, exactly?
Maybe we just left them on the grill longer than you did. They barely resembled meat by the time our restaurant used them.
And that process didn't disgust you?! We have vastly different opinions on what constitutes good chili.
I used to work at Wendy's as a teenager. Don't ever eat their chili. EVER.
I haven't had St. Bernardus 12, actually. Guess I need to try it.
And yeah, as far as I know, the Abbey still sells it that way. I'm sure the bottle shop I bought it at was reselling it illegally.

I’m going camping with my buddies. #LikeABoss
If you like French food, check out Mikette. You won’t be disappointed.

Savor every moment. It goes so much faster than you think.
Nice... Good luck!

I've never rocked the horseshoe mustache. Maybe I should give that a try.
