How do onside kicks work?

How do onside kicks work?

This. Howard is still with…

This. Howard is still with the mindset "this shit works" and thinking the problem is players aren't buying in. Beilein learned he needed help and addressed it. Howard hopefully has an epiphany of his own.

Not even Cavs players…

Not even Cavs players thought he was racist. They used that BS to push him out because they didn't like him. Beilein's old school fundamental focused approach to coaching will never fit with any modern NBA team. The NBA has become a diva pageantry.

Pretty strange to be widely considered one of the nicest coaches in all NCAA for many years to suddenly becoming racist a few months later in the NBA. It was and continues to be a crock of shit.

I think it will be…

I think it will be interesting to see who will come back. It appears from the MgoDepth Chart that Williams, Jackson, Burnett, and Howard all have one year left of eligibility. Dug was suspended and may not want to play school anymore.

Not sure who wants to be back or who Juwan would invite back.

""I don’t know how you guys…

""I don’t know how you guys were raised but how I was raised by my grandmother and also by Chicago,” Howard said in explaining that outburst. “I was raised by Chicago, I grew up on the South Side, when guys charge you, it’s time to defend yourself.”

-Howard post Wisconsin embarrassment

This is who Howard is. A 51 year old man that thinks he has to be overly aggressive when feeling threatened. In his mind he is rightfully defending himself. In reality, he escalates things negatively with uncontrolled aggression. He has no business being a leader of young men in any compactity. And on top of that he also happens to be a terrible coach.

This was the most incredible…

This was the most incredible softball game I ever watched in person. I saw Hutch there after the game too. Derk's changeup was owning the lady gators today. I also heard a few "happy birthday Lauren!" cheers from the stands too. Pretty sweet she through a complete gem on her bday. Fantucci is a defensive badass. This was as gutty a win you will ever witness. Also, Lebeau came in and owned Bethune Cookman. Was an amazing day of Michigan softball. Keep up the energy ladies.

I mean... He did get a lot…

I mean... He did get a lot of flak on this blog and continues to get it now. Many here called him the problem even though it's now obvious that was false. He gave us 3 years of great basketball production wearing the block M and we are sorely missing now that talent now.

Would you switch jobs to make more much money, be much more successful, and be more appreciated?

I believe it's all games …

I believe it's all games (conference and non-con) but only BIG teams.

So we are never going to…

So we are never going to admit the HD bashing here was incorrect? The blog was thrilled to have Reed's defense to replace Hunter's. You can't remove your "biggest defensive liability" and then have your defense suddenly turn into one of the worst defenses I've ever watched at Michigan. I really miss his offense but even his defense would be an upgrade to this team.

Damn Seth, you're a good…

Damn Seth, you're a good dude. I love reading Michigan content after wins and losses, but this one had to hurt to write up.

And instead of closing the…

And instead of closing the thread you go out of your way to complain to everyone here. How can something "always happen" if this is the "one time you forgot to check"? Can we stop with the woe-is-me moaning and reply with any Michigan related substance to the blog (hypocrisy noted). So many keyboard warriors on here...

Rather the OP was good or shit I learned about a coach I knew nothing about and also learned Sam Webb mentioned it. That's why I come here.

Committing to a school who's…

Committing to a school who's HC is interviewing to leave is a risky life decision. Most kids are not going to consider going to a school they think will lose it's HC, and rightfully so. They will have to hope and pray the new coach will still want them here just as much and fit the new schemes and style of play.

Are Nkamhoua, Jackson,…

Are Nkamhoua, Jackson, tschetter, and Williams all 4's? Jackson might be forced to back up the 5. And maybe Nkamhoua is athletic enough to matchup at the 3 if needed? Otherwise the writing is on the wall for both Williams and Tschetter at an overly crowded position. It will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Is it that sophisticated…

Is it that sophisticated though? I think our transfer guards struggle early because we keep taking guys who are moving up to the Big 10. Ivy league to us is like jumping from JV to Varsity in talent level. True freshmen Dug looked better than Lewellyn in his first start. Either Dug has a higher basketball IQ than our elite academic school PG transfers or our offense isn't as complicated as we think.

Overrated: John Elway, Phil…

Overrated: John Elway, Phil Jackson, and every OSU QB pre-draft.

Underrated: Barry Sanders... Non Lions fan don't understand how bad his offenses were. If he had the cowboys OL and an Aikman and Irvin he would of put up multiple unbreakable records.

Are we really trying to go…

Are we really trying to go guard heavy? I would love to hear more about this if it's true.

Accurate. But the tricky…

Accurate. But the tricky part is convincing a guard to come in to play back up point. You don't want another Frankie situation. This is why we need to start recruiting more PGs and lay off the one and done transfers.

Sorry but it takes some…

Sorry but it takes some thick maize and blue glasses to say he only barely brushed the net. I posted pics of the replay. You see his open hand. Then Hunter closes his hand and grabs the net. As he grips the net he pulls himself to the ball aiding in the block. Out of a handful of bad calls today you are complaining about one the refs got right.

True. But with our weak…

True. But with our weak roster construction plus injuries we had only 1 guard today. If Dug doesn't have the ball who was our next best option? "Nooooobody"

Hunter physically grabbed…

Hunter physically grabbed the net to help elevate and maintain hang time. I thought the refs weren't great but this was the correct call.

Collect underpants?

Other than needing another…

Other than needing another guard, why do we want Llwellyn back? In 8 starts he shot 31% FG and 18% from deep. Hard to expect a super senior coming off a season ending injury to suddenly dramatically improve his game. A true freshmen can come in and play equally as good as Llwellyn did.

Unfortunately we were…

Unfortunately we were overated, not unlucky.

We have 2 incoming recruits…

We have 2 incoming recruits. Neither are PG's. If we lose only Baker and Llewellyn then the roster construction will have only a true sophomore PG on the roster and no more scholarships to add another PG. What the actual fuck?

If Jett goes pro will we add another transfer PG? If so, you have to convince a quality level PG to come here to be back up otherwise Dug could become Frankie 2.0 and peace out. Are we actively recruiting a PG for the next class in preparation for another scholly opening up?

No PG depth is not the only issue. It will be very interesting to see what shakes out with next year's roster.

Please come back Kobe.

Could be a real interesting…

Could be a real interesting roster next season. My meaningless thoughts on who might not be wearing maize and blue next year.

90% Jett. Been getting 1st round draft buzz all season. Be surprised if he came back.

70% Llewellyn. I think he could get another year due to injury but doubt he wants to come back to play back up minutes to Dug.

65% Baker. He's a shooter on a team that lacks shooters and doesn't get many minutes or many sets to get him good looks. Wouldn't be surprised to see him looking for a team promising him minutes and shots.

55% Dickinson. A lot of the fan base has turned sour on him and I think he could transfer to a team that will try to showcase him. Could possibly get a big NIL promise if looking around too. Knows he has no NBA future so he needs to make as much money as possible now.

45% Williams. I'm sure he's well aware after every game what gets said about him and his play here. Regression this year. Could see him look for a fresh start elsewhere. But seems guaranteed to get plenty of play staying.

40% Bufkin. This is the first 1st round buzz I've heard for him. If he believes he will go 1st round he is gone. Could be a monster for us next year if he makes another jump but does he want to be the dude on a team that feels multiple years away?

10% each Barnes and Glenn. Seems like there's always a young guy not happy about playing enough nowadays and bolts early.

I don't think we have a lot of roster stability but hope I'm wrong. Our teams used to be real fun to watch and the players used to look like they were having much more fun. Remember the bench mafia? This team is admittedly hard to watch.

"Broncos owner Greg Penner…

"Broncos owner Greg Penner and University of Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh met last week in Ann Arbor to discuss Denver's head coaching position without any deal materializing, league sources told ESPN." - Adam Schefter.

What a soap opera. Why would Jim agree to meet in person for this, especially after all the reports of him staying here at Michigan? He could of told them over the phone no I will not meet with you, I'm staying at Michigan. It feels like he is committed to us until an NFL team commits to him. And Jim just made 10 million dollars last year on his current contract. This is not about more money. Jim has never been about the money. He has always been about winning and competing.

If Reed gets in early foul…

If Reed gets in early foul trouble who would come in to play center when Dickinson needs a breather? This would be my biggest concern about them both starting. And freshmen bigs tend to be foul prone.

Wonder how many minutes he'd…

Wonder how many minutes he'd be getting without the Llewellyn injury. They should have been at 20 mins each per game until the cream rises. It seems Howard promises his annual rent-a-PG all of the minutes they can physically handle regardless of play.

I mean, we currently have a…

I mean, we currently have a Level 1 violation against us specifically because Harbaugh lied and he also told Michigan last off-season his flirting with the NFL was a one time thing and would not become a recurring theme.... But ok. Sure, Harbaugh never lies.

I also don't see how he can…

I also don't see how he can be at the top of the broncos list after a 2 hour video chat. They would surely want to bring him to Denver for a longer follow up in person interview if they were serious about Harbaugh. Maybe they need to interview their Rooney rule coaches first before pursuing Harbaugh harder so they don't get fined or lose picks, hard to say. Some reports say Harbaugh initiated the Carolina interests which was not mutual. I think Jim's agent is going to make it sound like every NFL vacancy has him at the top of their list and they all want to pay him 15 mil a year, not because it's true but because it's his job. I think Jim will accept any NFL team that accepts him. And like last year he will keep up as plan B if the NFL turns him down again.

Thank you for the summary…

Thank you for the summary. Klatt's opinion makes no sense to me. If he wants more money, which Harbaugh has never said or acted like this is a priority, then why not talk to Warde himself in private? Or why not his agent privately have the discussion with Warde? After his last two seasons and to avoid another national coaching search Warde would pay Jim whatever he wants. Also, Jim is only hurting recruiting by waffling again. Makes no sense unless he is trying to get to the NFL again but refuses to openly admit in case the NFL dumps him again like last year.

How is this not clear he…

How is this not clear he wants to take an NFL offer but doesn't want to repeat last off seasons fiasco. We are obviously plan B. He is waiting out the pretty girl for prom while telling us "I think" I'll go with you but "no one knows the future."

He thought he had an NFL offer locked up last year, told Michigan his NFL plans, and then came back to us after the NFL turned him down. This is likely why he finally hired an agent after not having one for years. It's not about the money or a new contract. It's about securing an NFL job without repeating the Vikings embarrassment.

When Jim came back to us after the Vikings dumped him he told Warde this would not be an every year thing, clearly his word doesn't mean as much as we hoped. If he wants to be here it's real easy to publicly say " I'm fully committed to coaching Michigan and I will not be taking any NFL calls."

Other than Jim's first bowl…

Other than Jim's first bowl game we have been out prepared the last 6. What is happening here? Are we trying to install too much new stuff instead of sticking with what we are best at? Are we too confident coming in? Or do we just suck as long term game planning?

What's everyone's odds…

What's everyone's odds Diabate or Houston leave? I don't think either have shown enough to go but I could see Diabate getting drafted off raw potential. I don't see Houston being naturally athletic enough to go pro without a great season. I say 85/15 Houston stays and 60/40 Diabate stays.

Also, do we look for a PG who can score and a big 5 in the portal this off-season?
