My daughter just graduated after the fall semester.  It was bitter sweet.  She hasn't been on campus in months, and finished her last final in her room on her laptop.  A few weeks later, she gets an email with a PDF of her diploma attached.   Not exactly what any of us had in mind when she first received her acceptance letter 4 years ago.  Strange times.  

My first thought was, this thread will be getting locked soon!  No politics!

As a primary care physician I would suggest the statistics nationally show otherwise.  Big picture, the mortality rate from prostate cancer is exactly the same today as it was before PSA screening.

Last week my son is flying home from spring break and he's seated next to a very large, athletic looking African American man.  He asks my son if he plays ball.

Son:  "Nah, I'm too skinny and clumsy, you?"

Athlete:  "I do."

Son: "Really?  What school?"

Athlete:  "Well I did play for Michigan, but not anymore, I'm getting ready for the NFL draft."

Son: "You're kidding, what's your name?"

Athlete" "Devin Funchess, ever heard of me?"

My son still can't stop talking about it.  They chatted all the way back on the plane, seems like a nice kid.  I for one am pulling for him.

Well sort of.  When I was about 13, my mom went back to finish her degree at UM-Flint, and got student tickets.  She was 40 something, her and I went together, and it was quite an education.  I would sit back and marvel at the girls and the drunks, and she would complain about not getting to sit on her assigned number in the bleachers.  Every game she would bring down an usher to move some drunk girl or guy out of "our seats", and we'd get heckeled for the rest of the game.

Know what?  Didn't matter, I loved it.  Couldn't wait to get my own tickets when I became a student, and my mom and I still laugh about it.
