Seriously, guys

These types of posts need to stop.  This is a Michigan message board.  We should be talking about things relating to Michigan athletics, not complaining about what the media says about a rival team's chances at winning.  Yes, I know this thread is a result of one person trying to dismantle a team that beat their preferred team to feel better, but damn.

You have to understand where the media is coming from as well.  MSU knocked off two teams that are both two seeds in the NCAA tournament in consecutive days.  That alone is a good reason for the media to perk their ears up.  They also beat the B1G Champions very convincingly after dropping the two regular season match ups (which weren't lopsided victories for Michigan).  Plus (though I admit I hated this excuse as much as the next person), they finally do have their team back from all injury and related issues.  There is some merit behind the media liking MSU's title chances.

I've come to realize that the Michigan/MSU rivalry is not about who is little brother or sister because it's really a rivalry with two teams playing and their fanbases reacting like infants when a result doesn't go their way.  Meetings between the two schools is something I now loathe rather than enjoy because of it.

Respect the rivalry, accept defeat and look forward to the next game.

My dad always asked the right

My dad always asked the right question: "Why does MSU burn down East Lansing rather than the city of the team they just beat?"  Burning Columbus seems like a better option to me.

Though not up now, I am sure the marching band's youtube page will have a video of it up sometime soon.  Last season they recorded and posted all the halftime shows sometime towards the end of the following week.

The corner of Stadium and

The corner of Stadium and Main at Pioneer would also be a good spot.  I'm sure the guys over at RUB's would be fine with having something set up over there after the game for the MGoBlog meetup.

I don't see the problem with all this.  It just means there will be more yellow and blue in the Palace.  Nothing wrong with that.  MSU fans not wearing SDSU gear will cheer for them while there will be Michigan fans cheering for Valpo as well.  It happens with every fanbase, no big deal.

Also a release on MGoBlue.com. Lovely news to hear.

NTM scores to go up 2-1 over FYS, 6:59 left in the first.

We're not really all that

We're not really all that much better.  WLNS is only talking about MSU because they're a Lansing-based station.  According to WJBK, Michigan is number 25 on this list.  Not as bad as MSU, but still quite high in the "rankings."  Also, lol at EMU being on there as well.

There won't be any cheap

There won't be any cheap tickets left for this season.  The team only plays at home three more times, once against MSU on Feb. 1 and the last series of the season against Ferris March 1 and 2.  They might play the weekend of March 8-10 in the CCHA first round at home if they ever decide to get any points.  In any of these situations, it is doubtful you'll find tickets for less than $30 a piece.

Those are the tickets for the 2013 Final Four.  However, tickets for the 2012 Final Four are on sale right now: http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/1600474D9C9857F3?artistid=951211&majo…

Only all-session passes are available at the moment.  Ticketmaster shows $71.50 after fees for lower level while $38.70 for upper level seats.  If you get them in a group of ten or more, $60.80 for lower level tickets and $25.70 for upper level.  I think there is another fee TM throws on at the end, though.

You can also get a family pack for Saturday's championship only.  $150 for lower or $100 for upper gets you four or more tickets and vouchers for hot dogs, popcorn, and drinks.  http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/1600474DA32E5A12?artistid=951211&majo…

Being a history buff, the inclusion of the map inside the numbers is quite cool.  This is probably the first time I've ever looked at an alternate uniform and not shake my head over its stupidity.

I can't see Dantonio ever I can't see Dantonio ever leave MSU. His age and health are a factor, but I view his drive as a competitor to be the main reason he'll stay in East Lansing. There is no doubt that their program is much better than it has been in recent memory under his leadership. Regardless of how some people around here view Sparty's reccent success as luck, Dantonio has done a great job in making MSU a relavant team in the B1G for the past few seasons. However, he hasn't been able to get that elusive Rose Bowl appearance. Until he gets that, I don't think he'll be personally satisfied with the job he's done at MSU and will keep him there for at least the time it takes to get to Pasadena.
Seconded

Every announcer has something people can point out they don't like.  Just part of the game (in a way).

Guh.  5-7-1 with the roughest part of their schedule in the second half of the season.  Hopefully the GLI can spark them like it did last season or else that 23rd straight tourny appearance is in trouble.

I have a hard time seeing Georgia being willing to travel to Ann Arbor or Columbus once a year in that situation.

Remember that one time Jim Delany made a decision that didn't piss millions of people off?  Yeah, me either.

No

Traveling out to Byrd Stadium and the Comcast Center for games doesn't sound too enticing.  Extra travel for the non-revenue sports also seems like a bad idea, especially for western schools like Iowa and Nebraska.

This should answer your question (as wikipedia is never wrong): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Bear_Trophy

Actually, it was.  There were

Actually, it was.  There were two disputed Michigan no-goals that the decision came down to the line judge.  One was a goal that appeared (and this is from my view in the student section) to bounce of the bar, into the goal, and bounce out.  The line judge waved it off, though, and the score was still 0-0.  Later in the first half, Michigan put one in, but the line judge again waved it off for offsides.  It was very hard to tell as the score came in off a cross.

Pretty sure these are

Pretty sure these are illegal, so we'll never have to worry about seeing them.  From the 2012 NFHS Rules and Interpretations book:

RULE 1-5-3:
ART. 3 . . . Illegal Equipment. No player shall participate while wearing illegal equipment. This applies to any equipment, which in the opinion of the umpire is dangerous, confusing or inappropriate. Illegal equipment shall always include but is not limited to:
a. The following items related to the Game Uniform:
1. Jerseys and pants that have:
(a) A visible logo/trademark or reference exceeding 2¼ square inches and exceeding 2¼ inches in any dimension.

I'd make them illegal for being inappropriate to all things good in this world, but the reference size is probably what they'd really be deemed illegal for.

Nebraska 28, Michigan 20

Michigan rushing yards = 231

It just means we'll never

It just means we'll never have to worry about ARGHHH GIBBONS YOU PUT IT THROUGH THE UPRIGHTS going back under the key matchup on game previews.

This was taken 6 minutes

This was taken 6 minutes before kickoff.  Regardless of students being gone, that is pretty pathetic.  They even had discounted tickets for the north endzone.

The emphasis is that Mealer can wear #48.  Now if he should is a completely different matter.

Mealer actually can wear the

Mealer actually can wear the #48 if Michigan chooses to give it to him.  Unlike the NFL, the NCAA does not require players to wear certain numbers.  Instead, they merely suggest teams give players certain numbers to help designate who is an eligible receiver on any given play.  Here is a screen shot from the 2012 and 2013 NCAA Football Rules and Interpretations handbook clearing things up:

Fourth down actually didn't

Fourth down actually didn't exist until 1912, but the part about scoring points on two downs is correct.  Yost was one of the big advocates for adding a fourth down even though he didn't always use it.

Yeah, I totally understand,

Yeah, I totally understand, and seeing some of the facts now it makes sense.  I suppose the part that got me a little riled up was the fact they called all of Yost's championships as mythical yet made no attempt to say that Nebraska's were in the same category as well.

Good find.  That definitely

Good find.  That definitely may be the case, then.  Guess I should've looked more into the "mythical national championship" term.

I think it is more the fact that Denard has had so much hype around him for the past two seasons and being on the Heisman watchlist should make them at least aware of him.

As my friend once posted on

As my friend once posted on here: time to realize MSU is legit.

....

While waiting in line, I saw

While waiting in line, I saw a man with a huge pile of jerseys on the ground in front of him.  He began sorting them out, placing them into two piles.  At first, I was confused, but then it became apparent when all the numbers in one pile (e.g. 28, 32, 19) were giving away what he was doing.  In all, I counted seventeen jerseys in the "keeper" pile while another twenty-four were in the "non-keeper" pile.  I hope the jerseys he bought will go to a better use than making a profit for himself.

This sets up for having

This sets up for having potentially the first four games of the home season being at 3:30, as the Illinois game is already set for 3:30 as well.  The MSU game will be the highlight game of the conference that weekend with "notable" match-ups being Purdue @ Ohio and Penn State @ Iowa.  The rest of the games will be weak (Neb @ NW, Minn @ Wis, IU @ Navy), so it wouldn't surprise me if that game got slotted into the 3:30 space also.  After that, you'd have to assume the Northwestern and Iowa games in November would start at noon, but who knows.

Of course...

I won two of the "VIP" tickets in the #GOBLUE contest only to have the event be possibly cancelled.

On another note, why are you all predicting the spring game?  It's the Alumni Flag Football game that is the exciting part of the day.

Just want to give props to the OP on being happy to see other B1G schools on the list and not ripping them for being lower than Michigan.
