My S&P+ projections incorporate recent performance, recent recruiting, and returning production; early in the season, they carry significant weight, and they are phased out with increasing speed. After a team has played seven games, its preseason projections are completely phased out of the S&P+ equation.
One consideration is the better Deion does, the more likely he is to get a "better" job elsewhere (probably not until after next year). So would Underwood be committing to Colorado, or to Deion wherever he is? Maybe that uncertainty could help Michigan, although Harbaugh has a fair amount of uncertainty as well to be honest.
And guess what, go ahead and take out one of those big plays if you want and we still win by two scores! Go ahead and take out two of them and we still... you get the point.
I realize taking away plays can change the game dynamic, but it's not like we squeaked by only because of the big plays.

While this may be true, don't we have a number of non-coach analysts that do much of the deep dive film reviews? I'm sure especially for an away game, there's someone on that staff that watches the game on TV. Not to mention I would hope those analysts are smart enough to pick up on tendencies that Brian and a (very good) TV commentator see pretty easily. If not, we need new analysts! I imagine part of this is also new OCs that have been successful with certain plays and haven't had a need to move off those plays.

If he had 1 or 2 wins against them, I think much of the fanbase would feel completely different, myself included. Averaging 9-10 wins a year, and beating Ohio St. two out of five (I'd even take 1 of 3 at this point), would make me satisfied.

It does seem highly questionable in this case. However, I assume they account for drops and missed catchable balls, in which case his stats and QB rating in the game could have been much higher. Even so, you also need to account for the fumbles (lost or not) to get a full picture.
Maybe, but for those of us who don't have time to sit and watch hours of high school football tape, star gazing works in the aggregate as many have noted around these parts. You need elite recruiting classes with 4/5 stars to compete for national championships.
