Winning against osu in 2022…

Winning against osu in 2022 was one of the best.  They could point to the 2021 loss as an "aberration": it was on the road, Michigan was "due" after a long drought, the refs weren't with them, it was snowing, they had the sniffles, it was too cold to play their style, it didn't "mean" as much since they had already lost to Oregon earlier that year, whatever.  It wouldn't happen again - not this time, not in their own house with a rabid crowd and an 11-0 record going in, with a full year and a new DC to prepare for whatever Michigan had to offer (and with knowledge by their staff of the "sign stealing", so they were ready to counter that), sunny & unseasonably warm weather perfect for their style.  This was their game to reassert their narrative.

Then it happened again.  Even worse than the last time - with the Michigan traveling fans reveling in the stands and Michigan players posing for photos with the M flag on their field... confirming that 2021 wasn't a fluke but a sign of things to come.  Verification that the world had changed and they had to live with it.

Petty and insecure move by the NCAA.  Par for the course.

Never underestimate the ability of the ncaa to pander.

Regardless of what theur president has said, I still don't trust them from trying to go after some wins.

Saban had two entire…

Saban had two entire universities (LSU then Bama) who would be complicit (if not actively facilitating) his programs' ncaa extra-curricular activities... as well as a conference commissioner to provide cover as well.  Saban didn't need to push back agsinst the ncaa since he was well inured.

Yet Michigan admitted long…

Yet Michigan admitted long ago that these minor violations occured.   The only real point of contention was that they claimed Harbaugh misled or was not forthcoming with them, whereas he vigorously denied that (and the school stood with him on that while he was here).  This was never about Michigan trying to "argue it's way out of a ticket", but rather fighting to not be treated like a reckless driver for having a broken tail light.

There have been dozens (if not hundreds) of instances of "impermissible contact" by coaches with recruits over the past 25+ years, some self-reported and others not.  I cannot recall a single instance off-hand where that resulted in show-cause.

NCAA either not very self aware or has a decent sense of humor.

Giving coaches a show-cause…

Giving coaches a show-cause for merely interacting with recruits during a dead period seems rather heavy handed.   Coaches elsewhere have done worse than that over the years without receiving show-cause.

That said - wouldn't it be something if Michigan hires Jim back, after he finishes with the Chargers, in some kind of role (hopefully not HC since that would likely mean Moore had a problem)?

your psychotic behavior you previously displayed toward other posters on this board.

Do explain that one - I'm very curious.

There is a flaw in the logic of your claim, namely that you want to interpret the university scholarship as "compensation" for their participation in their respective sports.   However, the university provides the same tuition/room/board arrangements for other students beyond their athletic pursuits.  So what is (and has been all along, historically) the actual purpose?  It is incentivization, not compensation which is at play here.   The school has always wanted the best at key pursuits, and will incentive top performers with inducements to come.  This holds true for academic performance, musical, theater, and numerous other pursuits besides sports (with athletic scholarships coming later than many of those, historically).  Only the topmost sub-percentiles would qualify -everyone else must pay something.

It is curious how, for some claiming to not care about another's opinion, you seem to get very agitated (such to the point of invoking them into random comments).   Maybe you should take a break from internet message boards, for your own well being.

Not likely to reach a true…

Not likely to reach a true moment of catastrophe - more probable that the cost of living/business for those there will gradually rise to adjust for the strain upon the local resources.  As it begins to become prohibitive, those people and businesses will just relocate to a different relatively unpopulated rural area that be developed to attract visitors from around the country.

Placing a metropolis in the middle of a desert was never going to be long term sustainable.

When did I ever say that…

When did I ever say that Stanford's credits shouldn't transfer?

You might be confusing that with "what transfer credits will individual departments/programs count towards their degree"... which is all on the discretion of those departments (nothing to do with university admissions office).  Some of those departments can be very picky - not so much "where" the credits originate (but some of that), but very much "what is in that class credit".  I've see first hand a department from one part of Michigan not accept credits from another department in the same university for a class that was very similar to one it offered (it may have even had the same name, I don't recall now), but they looked through the syllabus and felt it wasn't up to their standards.  The student could count those credits as general elective, but they would not fulfill the degree requirements.  Many external transfer credits get the same treatment - probably some from Stanford even if the coursework is different enough.

You don't exactly come off…

You don't exactly come off as a sound individual (and certainly not one to posit a rational argument devoid of expletives and ad hominems).   Hopefully you demonstrate greater maturity in contexts outside of anonymous internet messaging boards - for not only your own sake but also for those who must interact with you.

You've also lost the plot for whatever argument you were initially trying to posit.  You claimed that students were acting as "free labor" for an employer, despite a large expanse of historical data (up to the present day) showing that these students were rewarded for their participation (long before monetization was a driving force for college athletics)... and this policy extends into all varsity sports that are available to student-athletes (not merely the "revenue" sports).  You also ignore that the fundamental relationship between the school and any student-athlete ("revenue" sport or other) is no different - legally a university cannot treat one as an "employee" and not the rest.

Tally the cost of tuition, room, board, health insuranc, tutoring, books, living stipends, and free gear (apparel, clothing, etc.) - then add onto that the unit cost of their football training, physical conditioning and personal coaching, professional marketing and life skills coaching (we know, for example, that they give the players personal financial management coaching - especially those likely to go into the NFL).   All of this free to the students and guaranteed for four years of attendance as long as they remain academically eligible - not dependent upon their on field performance or health status.

The value of tuition alone ranges from $30k - $70k per semester (depending on residency and year), with room & board almost equal to that.

Not a bad deal... and this is all before NIL.

You are getting a return in…

You are getting a return in that a product you enjoy becomes better and therefore more enjoyable which will also have the effect of more people donating.

That is not ROI (which is explicitly the financial return from a financial investment). What you describe is still just donations towards a sport program, only using a different mechanism.

The new box for typing comments/post is very frustrating on mobile (Android phone, Google Chrome). Not sure if due to phone's autocorrect, but typing out words has the cursor jumping, words autofilling or repeating when simply typing one letter, and just general strange behavior.  Very irritating and was never like this before the April 10 update.  Took 5min to get this correctly typed when previously would take 30sec.

I'm still just curious how…

I'm still just curious how many "coaches" a basketball team really needs. Obviously recruiting may require a large staff simply to keep up with all the options and vicissitudes of the field of players, but as far as actual development & in-game management... what other "roles" are really needed?   Football has a number of specialized positions which necessitate dedicated staff, while baseball & hockey have fewer specialized positions (and players).  Basketball has even fewer of both.
