Is Collins available?  I want that kind of defense.

Just speculation on my part,…

Just speculation on my part, but do potential show causes play a part in these departures on the defensive side??

Biggest key is getting after…

Biggest key is getting after Milroe, while not letting him break contain.  Plus disguising coverage to confuse his reads.

Borges in the preview with…

Borges in the preview with Sam Webb said the offense needs to have motion and shifts on nearly every play.  Misdirection is key as is TE attacking the middle vs LBs and safeties.  Also, hit them in the mouth and then play action pass.  Have plan to help tackles if edge(s) are getting pressure.  Finally, JJ’s legs are important, zone reads, designed runs, QB draw.  Seemed confident UM can get matchups they want.

They don’t know ball.

They don’t know ball.

This would never happen, but…

This would never happen, but I like the idea of an all academic conference.  Stanford, Cal,  UM, ND, Northwestern, Virginia, UNC, Duke, Vandy.  That’s 9.  Another to make 10?  A lot of natural rivals.  The academic collaboration potential would put the B1G one to shame.

There should be a “Third…

There should be a “Third Base” chant during this year’s game.

Harbaugh’s story of how not…

Harbaugh’s story of how not to tip plays at the LOS from coach Wannstadt after being a QB in the NFL for 7 years was pure Harbaugh.  Glad JH is back.

Being critical of UM’s CB…

Being critical of UM’s CB recruiting, because a transfer and walk on started is telling on the OSU media/fan base mindset.  Stars are much more important to them than development.  I think Seth pointed out in the same class as Rod Moore (3 star, no OSU offer), 4 OSU DBs ranked in top 100 are no longer on the team.

in fact, maybe the OSU staff is a lot like their followers.  They love star rankings, not that great at developing guys.

Standing on third is the…

Standing on third is the quote, but in a game of telephone it’s been morphed into born on third.

So apropos with the Michigan backpack and the OSU jersey.

One thing Scott said at the…

One thing Scott said at the 7 on 7 was that he  wants a place that will tell him the truth and not what he wants to hear.  That sounds like Clink to me, so maybe … ??

But JH is not a stars guy. …

But JH is not a stars guy.  Right now, I trust him and his staff with talent ID and development.  Got the advantage over Day in this key area.

Air is an arm thrower.  When…

Air is an arm thrower.  When I see a QB like that, I feel he’ll be limited in terms of arm strength and the deep ball.

I much prefer the fluid motion of Jayden.  Will likely be better overall arm talent.

I’m with you here.  Keep it…

I’m with you here.  Keep it simple.  Have co- B1G champs.  That worked fine for years before divisions.

The showcase is way overly complicated.

Playoff teams can be selected without the extra conference games just fine.

On tape, he seems to be a guy who has ball and field awareness, so he doesn't get lost in coverage and can find the ball.

Yes, please.

The world is made for people who aren't cursed with self-awareness.

Can really get up field and get off blocks and find the ball.  Looks like another win for the DL.

With the nice hands, I can see TE if he bulks up with Herbert.

Have you become unstuck in… Have you become unstuck in time?
Vance Bedford on with Sam…

Vance Bedford on with Sam this week said UM should do what Georgia did to Tennessee, which was blitz a lot and early in the game.  It did work for Georgia.  Would it for Michigan?

At least against Nebraska,…

At least against Nebraska, they had success with play action.  And according to Sam this morning, Al Borges said they are not doing as much play action this year.

Maybe JJ needs to feel more comfortable with it or they are holding it back for OSU.  Maybe the ultimate PA with the flea flicker is coming?

The talking heads love 1…

The talking heads love 1 loss Tennessee and 2 loss LSU saying what a great position they are in if they win out.  ESPN/SEC love fest.

B-B-B-Benny and the Jett!

B-B-B-Benny and the Jett!

On the arc zone read, I don…

On the arc zone read, I don't think it's so much red zone safety alignment, but Barnhart misses his block (I think he's supposed to block the linebacker, he blocks no one on the play).  So there's 2 unblocked guys for Schoonmaker.  He takes the first guy (the linebacker), leaving the safety unblocked.

If Barnhart blocks the linebacker, then Schoony blocks the safety, and JJ probably gets a chunk, maybe scores.

I think JH had found the…

I think JH has found the formula for his Michigan program.  It’s old school, but he’s old school, and it still works.  It’s run the ball and stop the run.

Sure, there are modern concepts on both sides of the ball, but the emphasis on these ideas about running and defending the run are in Harbaugh’s gut.  The implementation of the Ohio drill last year is a great example of this approach.  The OL and DL going against each other, a tough, run oriented drill.  Before The Game last year, Coach said it still gets back to Bo and Woody, a physical , gritty battle in the trenches.

The Penn State game is a great sign for this Michigan team.  A complete domination by both lines.  If that continues to improve, Michigan will have a great chance for victory in Columbus in 5 weeks.

This matches the spread SP+…

This matches the spread SP+ has right now.

I do think having…

I do think having contrasting unis from the crowd is a thing with the program, so I'm not sure it's easy to contrast with a Blue Out.  Does the home team have to have a blue top and a choice for the pants' color?  Maybe they'd go with the traditional home uni, or all maize if that is permitted.

Against Wisconsin, the…

Against Wisconsin, the Spartans looked how I expected them to look this year.  It could be a competitive game.

The added emphasis on MSU this year is a very good thing.  UM should come in extremely focused, and that could make the difference.  Let it rip for the full 60 minutes.

29 seems a bit high for OSU…

29 seems a bit high for OSU-Iowa.  I don't have the most recent SP+, but last week's numbers put the spread around 22.

When Blake was interviewed…

When Blake was interviewed by the All American Girl, for emphasis, he looked at the camera when talking about how the OL was just so dominant.  Thought that was kind of cool.

Coaches are trying to tell a…

Coaches are trying to tell a story.  Ready to roll.  Coach Moore is a star.

The context of the…

The context of the comparison was not the players themselves, but the confidence the team has in a QB.

Al brought up the example of Raiders' players having the belief Stabler would get them in the endzone, even if a play or plays failed during the drive.

Al thought the team's confidence in JJ is growing, and that it will really add to the squad's success.

And according to SP+, UM is…

And according to SP+, UM is favored by about 12 points.  I think the line opened around 7.  I'm not sure if it has moved.

Out as in out of the game,…

Out as in out of the game, not knocked out.

In one of his post game…

In one of his post game interviews/presser, Harbaugh said Wilson was out from a "head shot".

My biggest concern …

My biggest concern (principally vs OSU) is the absence of Dax Hill.  Hill severely limited YAC of the OSU wideouts (especially JSN), and I’m not sure Mike S will be as effective.

But if a lot of dime is played with the 3 corners and 3 safeties all on the field, that could do the job.

So UM is about an 8 point…

So UM is about an 8 point dog to OSU according to SP+.  Last year, I believe the SP+ spread in The Game was similar.

Most OSU fans believe it will be a double digit win this year, just like they thought last year.  I like how UM sits in terms of expectations.

I think that feeling of superiority may also creep into the Buckeye program, which only helps UM.

I think the OP is correct. …

I think the OP is correct.  I’m surprised we didn’t see a review or that Harbaugh didn’t issue a challenge.  Unless JJ’s arm was not moving forward or he lost control of the ball before his arm moved forward.  I’d like to see slow motion replay like seen during a review.

Perhaps this will be talked about on the next MGoBlog podcast.

Like the positive thinking…

Like the positive thinking that players can improve.  That might be at the top of Harbaugh's list if he has a mission statement.

Besides being very fast, he…

Besides being very fast, he’s got excellent ball skills as a receiver.  I’d be surprised if he’s not productive in some capacity.

One thing I noticed, and…

One thing I noticed, and Devin Gardner pointed this out on MM QB with Sam Webb, is that at times JJ bounces in the pocket with both feet off the ground, which makes it harder to make a pass on time.  Hopefully, that will improve in the next few weeks.

I understand the extended…

I understand the extended discussion on the offense, because of JJ, but surprised there was no talk about the defense.

I kind of wondered about…

I kind of wondered about Cade coming out in the middle of his last drive after throwing an incompletion.  Devin may have been right that Harbaugh had had enough.  He appeared to misread coverage on his last two throws.
