Total hack - shows were all…

Total hack - shows were all garbage. May god have mercy on his uncreative soul.

Brian suggested he bought him a house.  $100K is fine, but if you are 55 and that is the height of your earnings, you aren't throwing money around.  Also, if you think that is a lot of $, you probably acquired your Michigan fandom at Walmart, rather than on campus.

While I support Brian's…

While I support Brian's narrative that Stalions is a rogue bad actor - does anyone at this site ever think to Google things?  I spent 5 minutes - so voracity is unverified which would take another 5 minutes that I don't have - but there is a Brock Stalions that has a picture with Connor on his Twitter handle and a Google search of Brock brings up that he and his family live in a $340K condo in Lake Orion and he made $100K in 2020, as an employee of the Lake Orion School District.  Not exactly a high roller.

Just put down the burritos,…

Just put down the burritos, cut the carbs like you are Tom Brady and get on Bumble (or Grindr based on your partner reference) and kill it.  After 5 years, you can finally start nailing anything that moves, stop moping and enjoy it.  You should have less interest in this season than past ones because you should have plans with much hotter partner than the one who slowly got fatter while you both sat around in your sweatpants.

A quick Google search showed 2 gun arrests in 2021 alone.  So not sure about the voracity of your 'hasn't had any issues since (2014)' claim.

After how things went with his own son, Andy Reid should probably stick to Xs & O's and not try to be a father figure to anyone.

While it would be great to…

While it would be great to have him back, I would also settle for him having 2 sacks against OSU, returning a tipped pass for a TD, and being so disruptive to CJ Stroud that he has no choice but to declare for the draft after 2 additional stellar games in the BCS.

While the recap suggests…

While the recap suggests that Llewellyn was terrible for much of the game before playing well down the stretch, in reality he alternated good plays with terrible ones down the stretch which was an improvement over being a non-factor in the rest of the game.  I'm still hopeful that he can settle in and contribute, physically it seems like he has the tools if he can just start hitting some shots.

Good call - at :02 you can…

Good call - at :02 you can see Crump being pulled away and up the tunnel.

One other note - the Michigan staffer in the Yellow hat which the McBurrows beating happens right in front of, looks a lot like Tom Wywrot, longtime Michigan basketball SID.  Can't really blame him for not wanting to jump in more strongly with these guys with pads and helmets on but he has zero emotion when the camera pans to him at the end.

Seemed like it was mostly…

Seemed like it was mostly Harrell out there this game, but did see Okie periodically.  Will be curious how many plays each got.  I assumed Okie was going to be getting more snaps, not less.

Even worse - it looks like he could be running to block the camera

One other thing - while the…

One other thing - while the offense didn't have a lot of big time playmakers - they of course used Woodson there and he was electric.  Whenever he entered the game as a receiver you knew something was going to happen.  Even if the ball didn't go to him, he drew the attention of everyone on defense.

Not surprising - he has high…

Not surprising - he has high end athleticism, definitely worth taking a chance on a guy with top of the first round potential in the 3rd round.  He graduated high school like 5 years ago, all of his peers from HS are in the pros, I don't think he would stick around another year.

Does anyone know the…

Does anyone know the earliest usage of this chant by Michigan fans?  Based on ByAZuniga's comment - do any M fans remember using it before 1984?

I'm still so confused how…

I'm still so confused how Okie was dismissed at the beginning based on a quick look at one game when he had a cast on his arm and recorded no stats.  This site does amazing deep dives into every commitment no matter how well regarded, drives around and watches middling 3 stars play high school games (many of who are processed, transfer, or are injured and never play a down) and then we land a transfer to our biggest position of need, who coming out of high school was rated higher than any recruit we have ever signed except maybe Gary and Peppers, and we write him off after 5 minutes of research.  Maybe in the future, this should take precedence over researching UConn linebackers (that criticism earned me a stern talking to at the time).

It didn't take a ton of time to parse through his numbers to see he was a force at UT-M, see this analysis I did: https://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/5-star-eyabi-anoma-closer-look-his-ut-martin-stats

Or a little YouTube digging to find these clips:

I'm glad we are all aboard the Okie train and hope he continues to develop and deliver.  I say this not to disparage the best site on Michigan sports but just to encourage them to be more open-minded in the future and maybe think twice about where they direct their limited time.  My preference would always be on M players that we will be rooting for all year, rather than looking at non-conf opponents that we are favored by 7 touchdowns over.

Okie rising!  We have our…

Okie rising!  We have our pass rusher to pair with Morris.

Was thinking the exact same…

Was thinking the exact same thing - it's not the same circumstance but we have made similar mistakes with getting overly excited about QBs on limited data points before - John O'Korn (after Purdue) and Joe Milton (after Minnesota) come to mind.  Definitely more of a track record with JJ but still likely that he will have some bad games or moments along the way, in his first year as a starter.

It was the hottest weekend…

It was the hottest weekend of the year (maybe several years) and people here aren't used to horrible heat and mugginess like in Michigan.  I live at the beach, which I'm sure was 15-20 degrees cooler and I only left my house briefly that day.  Would not have been willing to sit in the Rose Bowl for 4 hours.  I don't think this has anything to do with interest being different than last year or 4 years ago.  Bad opponent, horrific weather, and long holiday

weekend meant people were going to find something else to do.

By everyone, you mean people…

By everyone, you mean people that think they are experts because they watch a few minutes of a YouTube clip where he is playing with a cast on his hand.  Or people that actually know things and ranked him as a Top  5 player coming out of high school? Sometimes people are just in charge of things - like the Pac 12 commissioner or Brian/Seth/Sam.

How is Anchor ranked as a 4?…

How is Anchor ranked as a 4?  Are we doing the DL on a scale to 10?

"Morris should be an upper-echelon Big Ten DL—maybe just outside of All Big Ten level—who can compensate for his one major deficiency by crushing pockets closed. It's fine."

Based on what?  This feels like a classic MGoMistake where they just decide something is the way it is and then accept that as fact.  He might be fine but we have nothing to base that on.

In the last 6 games of last season, he compiled a total of 1 solo tackle, assisted on 4 tackles, and had 1 QB hurry.

"This is exactly Chris Wormley. Wormley was not much of an edge rusher but was nonetheless effective as a strongside DE."

Wut!?

As a freshman, Wormley had 4.5 TFL & 2.5 Sacks while as a Junior, Morris had 1 TFL and half a sack.  You don't need to chart this to know that Wormley at least offered some playmaking and Morris has shown no sign of it yet.

Tried to find some video of…

Tried to find some video of Anoma in action and there is not a lot to work with - unfortunately there is basically nothing from his big game against Austin Peay.  Some of the clips I found were from the opponent so not a lot of incentive to show UTM's sacks.  I did also find the full game clips from their 2 playoff games and I just looked at one of them briefly and he didn't look as aggressive and he has a large cast on his hand/wrist/forearm so based on his light stats in those games and that initial look, I only grabbed the 2 plays that showed up in the stat sheet in the 1st game.  These are mostly uneventful clips but they will still give you a chance to see what he looks like on the field.  I put a * next to the ones that he does something and are more worth the watch but I know the MGo community doesn't just want to see highlights so I basically linked almost every play where I could identify him:

Game 4: Murray St

Wearing white gloves, black wrap on left leg

1) Unblocked on the right side but runs past the QB who keeps:

https://youtu.be/bV605saEFdg?t=13

2) Lined up on right side, drops into coverage, runs across field to follow play:

https://youtu.be/bV605saEFdg?t=22

3) Rushing from the left side, is stopped and double teamed as the QB takes off up the middle for a big gain.  He runs after the play and gets into frame as the QB goes down:

https://youtu.be/bV605saEFdg?t=75

4) Lined up inside on the right side on a 4th down, he gets some push, but the play goes away from him, he does sprint after the play and looks fast going after it

https://youtu.be/bV605saEFdg?t=85

*5*) Lined up outside on the right, he shoots off the line and goes right around the tackle, gets his hand on the QB, he and a teammate almost wrap him up but he slips out and gets the pass off:

https://youtu.be/bV605saEFdg?t=141

Game 5: Jacksonville St

Wearing Orange Cleats

*1*) Rushing from the right side, doesn’t get much pressure but run all the way around from behind the QB and piles on as the receiver is tackled

https://youtu.be/gov5Ko7GJg4?t=169

2) His pressure on the right side allows another guy to get through and get in the face of the QB as he throws

https://youtu.be/gov5Ko7GJg4?t=380

3) Lined up in the middle of an unusual formation on a key 3rd down.  Only 3 guys rushing, he has 2 blockers on him immediately and doesn’t do much but the other 2 rushers coming from the edge get to the QB and force him to throw it away

https://youtu.be/gov5Ko7GJg4?t=500

Game 6: EIU

*1*) Several quick clips in a row that feature him (let it play to the end) – it is EIU’s video so they end up being positive plays for EIU but Anoma is a disruptor in them.  He has the bright Orange cleats and #1 jersey.

*1*) On 3rd & long, tackles the runner, has trouble wrapping up with one hand in cast but causes the fumble that UTM recovers:

*2*Runs across the field to tackle a guy out of bounds:

Completely agree with your…

Completely agree with your question - it is valid and I have the same one.   I'd like to think that maybe they were trying to ease the pressure on him and get him up to speed by working him in slowly.  But he started the first game (although recorded no stats, so maybe injured?) which hurts that theory, then didn't start game 2, and then sat out game 3.   Then in the middle of the season during his good stretch he gets 3 consecutive starts, including his biggest game of the year, but then after being defensive player of the week, he doesn't get the start for the next 2 games.  I thought maybe after his big game, he missed class or something but maybe he injured himself in practice and they were managing his snaps?  There is a decent chance it also has something to do with their defensive formation as he is always listed as a 'Jack' but in some games they had an extra DT listed as a starter and no Jack.

Here is his game by game participation and stats if you scroll down:

Some bonus Anoma content - I was searching for something from the Austin Peay game on YouTube (don't be fooled by the Spring 2021 game like I was) and no luck but did come across 2 things that may give you a sense of who he is as a person:

Looks like he had to create some YouTube videos for a Communications class at UTM and he talks about some interesting topics like mental health and race.  Low production value - could possibly use some NIL dollars - but seemed like a thoughtful kid and mentions the NFL so it is clear that remains his focus but thoughtful on other topics.  3 out of 4 of the videos have less than 25 views so apparently the UTMGo crowd must not have found them.

https://www.youtube.com/user/toniceinbball

Here is his interview after the Austin Peay game when he had the best game of his college career.  Comes off as a nice kid that is excited and energetic and a good teammate.  Also interesting that he mentioned in the Comm videos that he took the class so he would be more composed in interviews.  He clearly doesn't have that calm, collected media trained persona that you see with most M players in this interview so you can see why he was working to improve that, although it was refreshing to see someone that didn't have natural energy and excitement coached out of them:

Hard to know much from the video and with so much development ahead of him, definitely looking forward to Matt EM's evaluation when he gets to see him live.  However, in the interim I can comfortably say that he is already taller and a better shooter than Avery Queen.

Such a huge and shocking…

Such a huge and shocking loss.  I was just looking the other day to see when he was going to be performing live by me again and it looked like he had an East Coast tour coming up. I'm glad I did have the chance to see him live a half dozen times.   I've been watching some of the compilations of his best SNL or late night appearances over the past few weeks on YouTube.  Probably my 3 favorite things of his are 1) the Charles Woodson/OJ Simpson joke  2) when they made the mistake of letting him perform at the White House Press Correspondents Dinner during the Clinton administration 3) either the moth joke or when he repeatedly eviscerates Carrot Top while poor Courtney Thorne Smith is trying to promote the movie she made with Carrot Top on Conan:

Does anyone have any…

Does anyone have any thoughts on the teams in the top 10 that we do and do not want to take M players because of their track record with leaving players in school or not for development?

I think it could be a base…

I think it could be a base that they could see $25K waiting for them when they sign, and then they will go out and get other deals.  Just like the Miami guy is basically promising $6K.  I think that $25K, $50k, $100K, would be easy to accomplish for this site - something like $250K for a key need is doable.  If the media covers it, M alums that aren't as big of recruiting nerds as us but still love M football and want to say that they helped pay for that DT will go to whatever fundraising site is set up and donate.  While I'm sure we have our share of big $ readers, I suspect that there is a bit of an inverse relationship in general between time spent reading about recruiting and your tax bracket.   The $100K for Ace was raised with just the core of the MGoBlog community and for something that probably isn't as meaningful as a Top 100 DT to many of us.  This has the potential to reach my much more successful former B school finance classmates that don't visit the site 5-10 times a day but if they see something about M on ESPN.com will want to get involved.

I assume you are suggesting…

I assume you are suggesting he is still haunted by Trey Burke stealing the ball from him:

Or maybe haunted by that time he raped a girl and Izzo covered it up.

I see his fiancee Stephanie is mentioned several times.  Has anybody seen a picture of her to confirm that James Franklin would believe he could recruit?  Frames may be on to something, Jay Harbaugh's wife was a flight attendant on a flight I took and his recruiting ability checks out.

So based on your not an NBA…

So based on your not an NBA elite athlete comment, I'm assuming there is a decent chance he does enroll and doesn't go to the G League?  Any info on his family and how important education is, financial situation, etc?  After being burned last year, with 5 star commits I care more about their likelihood of enrolling than anything about their game.

Those 'psychos' are…

Those 'psychos' are definitely more likely to be from the Walmart (or Meijer) Wolverine portion of the fanbase.  When the barrier to entry is a $9.99 XL t-shirt, there isn't anything that separates our fanbase from any other.

"We both fought our demons and he was always there to talk. Whether it was our demons or marvel movies we always had good conversations. I’m going to miss him more than anything,” MLA teammate Julian Barrios said.

Perhaps a missed opportunity to educate people about mental health issues, depression, etc. but maybe in time, that can be discussed.  In the meantime, thoughts and prayers, etc.

I liked the part where Brian consistently proved how smart he was by demeaning Seth, who had spent a lot of time researching and watching film. I'm sure that all of Brian's opinions will turn out to be correct because when I think back, what he says will happen in the game always turns out to be accurate, because accuracy.  Sometimes people are just in charge of things.

Paul Hornung was an excellent college football player and a huge blowhard but I'm not sure which game you are referring to because Notre Dame never played Michigan during his career.  He played during the 1944-1977 period when the Irish ducked Michigan.

There's no question that he

There's no question that he is an excellent defensive coordinator and he gives us a chance to win every game, but our defense is also loaded - it has been since DJ Durkin was here.  Is there a reason why we have to bust spectacularly at least once a game and also have a drive where the opponent marches down the field with no resistance and it is chalked up to "Don Brown figuring them out".    While the season ended on a horrible note and I would rather have DB than DJD, even if just for OSU/Spread, remember when we had a crazy scoreless streak against UNLV, ranked BYU, Maryland, and ranked Northwestern.  Is there a reason why we need to give 14 points to Cincinnati and Rutgers, and 10 points to anyone else that shows up on our schedule?  The talent this year is just as strong as 2015.
