Watching Michigan/NCAA Tournament in Amsterdam

Submitted by Jaqen H'ghar on

I'm wondering if anybody knows of good bars or places to watch the NCAA Tournament and Michigan over the next week or so. I realized that I will be in Amsterdam for the start of the tournament and don't want to miss any of it if possible.

I already checked the Michigan Bar map and there were no bars in the Netherlands so hoping someone has some recent experience finding somewhere to watch.

I've done this, and here is what you do:

1. Go to Dam Square.

2. Buy a couple nuggets of White Widow.

3. Smoke the White Widow (dear God, not straight, blend it will a little tobacco).

4. Get really drunk.

5. Wander the Red Light District until something "catches your eye."

6. 150 Euros lighter, drunk, stoned, and "all tired out," you'll forget all about basketball even existing...

when you leave Centraal Station head into town and then bear left  (southish) over the damrak to Warmoesstraat.  Turn Right (southwestish).  Baba will be on the left and then another block or so Cafe Hill Street Blues will be on the right.  spend about an hour at each then head back the other direction on Warmoesstraat to Hunters the Pub which is a sports bar.  repeat as needed.  Eventually find the Grey Area.  phenomenal little shop.  Greenhouse and the Dampkring are also Highly recommended.  And breakfast at Barneys.

I'll be there around that time too! What dates will you be there? If nothing works out, we can stream the game on our phones in a coffee shop and get high as Michigan gets buckets.

for evening games.

Here in France, most bars close at 1AM = 7PM EST.   So evening games would fall in the middle of the night.

Check back here before games.  I'm sure you'll be able to find Internet streams, if nothing else.

This is more up-to-date than me: https://theculturetrip.com/europe/the-netherlands/articles/the-best-spo…

FWIW I watched the Super Bowl one year at Coco's Outback. (The name might've been different then--not sure--but it's in the place I remember.) Anyway there were a lot of TVs there and I would be surprised if they didn't have the NCAA tourney. Almost got beat up by a roid-raging member of the Amsterdam Crusaders, though, so watch out for large idiots.
