UM football Twitter is putting out pics of weight room
January 17th, 2018 at 12:05 PM ^
should be a tantalizing enticement to the athletes who consider Michigan as their college choice. Go Blue!
January 17th, 2018 at 12:10 PM ^
An Iron Paradise.
January 17th, 2018 at 12:13 PM ^
Didn't they just upgrade the weight room recently, like within the last 10 years?
January 17th, 2018 at 12:16 PM ^
Got to purchase more and different equipment, but it was still small and antiquated. This is an upgrade.
January 17th, 2018 at 12:34 PM ^
New digs.

except not

I want to embed a Tweet in a comment.
Click "switch to plain text editor". This is a link at the bottom of the text box for either a comment or post/diary.
On the tweet you want to embed, click where it says "More"
On the drop-down, select "Embed Tweet"
Copy the code that appears
Paste the code into the post
Switch back to rich text editor. This button is in the same spot at the bottom of the text box as plain text editor.
Note: I'm told this does not work for forum topics or diaries. Sorry.
January 17th, 2018 at 12:48 PM ^
EDIT: Mrkid beat me to it below.
January 17th, 2018 at 12:35 PM ^
10th time was not the charm. So much for the embed
January 17th, 2018 at 12:42 PM ^
I got you. Stick to dancing.
For future reference, if you remove the emojis from the text in the embed code, it works.
January 17th, 2018 at 3:51 PM ^
My dancing is worse than my attempts at embedding a tweet. I'll just let Dennis do that
Thanks for the tip

NOW we can discuss the semantics of what constitutes "new digs".
(Place looks great)
January 17th, 2018 at 3:53 PM ^
when is the fitness and nutrition center, shown in renderings, suppose to be done?
January 17th, 2018 at 12:37 PM ^
Also check out the tweet from yesterday showing artist's rendering of fitness and nutrition center, coming soon.
January 17th, 2018 at 12:38 PM ^
I would over pay for some of those Michigan branded weights.
January 17th, 2018 at 4:55 PM ^
Those are pretty sweet and would make a great addition to any home gym or man cave.
January 17th, 2018 at 12:39 PM ^
I think with some of aaron bills graphics on those bare walls, that place could look amazing. For now though its a bit bare, I think thats also cause their not all done. There are no mirrors in there at all, so thats my indication of them not being done. Gotta have them mirrors for the muscles. New equipment looks sweet though and it will only get better.
January 17th, 2018 at 1:08 PM ^
I think you mean flair. More flare might be a bit dangerous..
.

Great new equipment and facilities for our guys!!
January 17th, 2018 at 12:46 PM ^
Cool to see the pics. The weight room stuff looks very good. There were two pics that stood out.
- There is one picture of the whole room that shows three adjoining ways to go to the upper level: a normal stairway, a stairway with giant steps, maybe about 1 step to every 4 normal stair steps?, and a fairly steep incline. I've never seen the giant size stair, or an indoor incline that steep. Any of you familiar with those ways to exercise?
- A nutrition room, with a row of blenders visible, all with something like a strawberry smoothie. (Presumably, the room is full of a ton more blenders.) Kind of fascinating to see all those individual blenders. Looks like each athlete who wants can make their own smoothie with calories and ingredients to their specs? Pretty cool.

The photo with the glass door and all of the smoothies makes it look like an Apple Store with nothing but smoothies.
January 17th, 2018 at 1:01 PM ^
Will there be a staff of condescending tongue-pierced nerds dressed in black rolling their eyes at questions about fiber and caloric intake?
January 17th, 2018 at 1:17 PM ^
Not sure but I heard their next smoothie blend innovation is going to change everything we know about everything, change the way we do everything. The best smoothie yet.
Spoiler: Its the same smoothie you had last time they just added one more strawberry.

ramp for hill running, big stairs for jumping.
January 17th, 2018 at 3:43 PM ^
No vomit buckets? wtf
January 17th, 2018 at 12:56 PM ^
From my understanding all the sports in the area will get to use it too for weights. Softball, Baseball etc.
Two performance centers, each on the North and South ends of the athletic campus.
January 17th, 2018 at 2:02 PM ^
I thought they were building a performance center by the admin building for those sports. BTW does anyone know what is going with the rest of the facility stuff Brandon had planned like the new arena for volleyball, gymnastics and wresting and swimming upgrades? Here is a link to it all
http://support.mgoblue.com/victors-for-michigan/explore/
Brandon had the quite the vision, I hope it all gets done
January 17th, 2018 at 2:09 PM ^
The new arena is gonna go in Keen's place perhaps. It's still happening because Mark Rosen keeps mentioning it in his weekly media during Volleyball season.
I'm sure Canham is still happening too because that place needs some sprucing up.
On the map it looked like the new arena was going in the old track building's spot but said-building was converted into a field house for the surrounding sports as an Oosterbaan Fieldhouse II if you will.
January 17th, 2018 at 3:44 PM ^
If the surrounding sports are going to use the old indoor track building what was the point of keep half of Oosterbaan? I thought the only reason they didn't want to tear it down was because too many other sports used it.
January 17th, 2018 at 12:59 PM ^
There's no indoor waterfall. Fire everybody responsible.
January 17th, 2018 at 1:00 PM ^
Nor is there a wall of footballs. And it doesn't look enough like an airport terminal.
I TOLD THEM.
January 17th, 2018 at 1:22 PM ^
Aren't you in architecture? Why didn't you point out this design flaw? What's wrong with you, Don? You architects, I tell you. Asleep on the job. And now we'll be set back in recruiting for another 50 years. If Michigan doesn't succeed, it's all the fault of the architects. Including you.
January 17th, 2018 at 2:37 PM ^
Hey, don't blame me—I emailed Brandon a hundred times about this and he just told me to quit drinking and go to bed.
January 17th, 2018 at 1:25 PM ^
They took some very sage advice to avoid chasing waterfalls. Sticking to the lifting and the weights that they're used to.
January 17th, 2018 at 1:02 PM ^
The basketball cage looks like where Jim and DJ played their endless game of 1 on 1 where no fouls were called.
January 17th, 2018 at 3:49 PM ^
they should put something that has to do with MJ on the court or in the area.
January 17th, 2018 at 3:56 PM ^
one man comes out..
January 17th, 2018 at 1:11 PM ^
the indoor sled hill is something
January 17th, 2018 at 2:09 PM ^
For full effect, of course, the indoor sled hill should lead straight into the steam room so players not native to this climate get used to the awkward transitions that we sometimes get between seasons around here.
January 17th, 2018 at 1:20 PM ^
looks heavy.
January 17th, 2018 at 1:53 PM ^
Weight has...everything to do with it?
January 17th, 2018 at 1:52 PM ^
I thought this great news, but thank God Maizen is around to bring much needed gravity to this situation.
January 17th, 2018 at 2:31 PM ^
He was. Not that I didn't enjoy his multi-post subthread arguing how the act of replacing our workout equipment under Barwis did not constitute in any way an improvement to our exisitng workout facilitiies; all the while conflating the meaning of the words "renovate", "update", and "upgrade". Sigh, that was tedious.
January 17th, 2018 at 4:37 PM ^
And rightly so, but Maizen took pedantry to a whole 'nother level
January 17th, 2018 at 2:37 PM ^
Sorry, but I’m glad the guy is gone. He was just a twitch, coming here only to be disagreeable and stir up shit. He felt so oppressed here, but if he was a marine he would have been shanked in the barracks long ago. Who needs that? What we need is more smart ass clowns!
