Two new mock-ups for Michigan helmet stickers
My stance on helmet stickers has been for the idea, but against the execution. None of the stickers from Bo's era were particularly great, and we're not even using the best design from that era (which would be 75-82).
There are a couple of problems with the current stickers.
- They are too big (even though they appear to be smaller this year).
- A football on a football helmet is redundant.
The easy fix to both problems would be removing the football shape altogether. Viola.
Just for fun, Craig Barker from the Hoover Street Rag asked me to do a mock-up with the Wolverbear.
Obviously, Harbaugh likes the Bo stickers, so I'm not holding my breath for a change any time soon. It's fun to see what different designs look like.

But a football on a football helmet cancels out a basketball player on a football helmet.

Guessing you are slightly sarcastic(maybe not), but I struggle with the lack of understanding how brands work. How many teams rock the Nike Swoosh? A bunch and Oregon is basically seen as Nike University. North Carolina could have been the easy option to rock the Jordan symbol in Football, but they picked Michigan because excellence(Jordan) wanted to be associated with excellence(Michigan). Jordan is the GOAT....his brand is one that has grown to big levels. Lebron has his "brand", but will it ever touch the same solar system of Jordan's?
Instead of mocking the brand we should be realizing how awesome it is to be the first to rock it. What other athlete will have a brand that rivals any other sports brand? Also if Jordan continues to make visits to Michigan can you honestly not say it will pay off in recruiting....and not just football, but Basketball as well. This is potentially bigger than just being Nike.

I like the idea of removing the football to take keep some more blue. But I feel like the best solution is to make the stickers even smaller.
What if the stickers were small enough that Jabrill would only have them on one side at end of year? This way we could have all the competition for stickers but still satisfy purists. And it would be cool to see both sides of the helmet with each change in a quarter.

The wolverbear seems a bit too cartoonish.

The first picture looks pretty good.
The second picture . . . does not.

Rather keep the Wolverine inside the football. So nah to that one. Second one is interesting.
Won't happen, but interesting. I hope Nike uses that logo on apparel. Haven't seen them do it yet.

Same. Wolverbear is my favorite logo. What sucks is it's considered a "vintage mark," so anything with that logo is generally much more expensive. I hate paying a premium for stuff that is meant to look old.

if it was my choice. It would be something small and symetrical so the addition of many would still look subtle. Maybe small maize block Ms.
Personally the only helmet stickers i think look good are:
UGA
FSU
MSU
Dislike
OSU
Stanford

There's already a block M on the bumper. Let's not go all Dave Brandon and plaster the block M everywhere.
I've never been a fan of cluttering our helmet with stickers, but if we have to use them, you gotta to go with the traditional Bo stickers aka snarling wolverine.

i vote to change the block M on the bumper to "HAIL" ..
see i solved everything.

Bingo.
They're too much clutter. Put the stickers on a board or in the locker or have someone's grandma knit the logos into a sweater for each player.
Leave the helmets alone.

Definitely need some little basketball players on the football helmet.

Okay, we're on the same page. This post is about helmet stickers, not takeaways from the opening game. Glad we cleared that up.

Why would you expect there be actual football analysis on a thread titled "Two new mock-ups for Michigan helmet stickers"? Especially since the game was 3 days ago.

make 'em a little smaller club. Of course I was in the student section when Harbaugh was playing.
September 6th, 2016 at 3:50 PM ^
I like whatever our top 5 head coach does.
With that said, the only two changes I'd make would be to make the decals slightly smaller and to have the helmet stripes converge at the back of the helmet. For whatever reason Nike decided to have the stripes look unfinished at the back. Otherwise everything's great.

exactly why we are commenting on two random fan designs for helmet stickers that have as much chance of happening as me winning the Heisman Trophy this season, but ok........
