Speight visiting UCLA

Not sure if it means more than just getting all options, or if it's any sort of indication regarding program confidence in Patterson's appeal, given coach Harbaugh's recent remarks regarding a potential return. Would be the third grad transfer this year to head west, with Moe Ways and Ian Bunting both headed to Cal, and would join Devin Asiasi (and would keep the seat warm for Dorian Thompson-Robinson).

UCLA's recruiting has been geared toward pro-style under Mora, so maybe this is a way of bridging those recruits for a year or so unitl you have more of your own guys. Wilton could move a little bit (though he obviously wasn't Rudock) and Kelly was also the guy who traded for Sam Bradford, so he might not be averse to a purer-pocket type.

Speight has one year, and his likely successor (should he go there) is already on the roster. Hell, he might just start the season, with DTR coming on later, similar to what SC did with Max Browne/San Darnold (they have Oklahoma in Norman on the schedule in week 2).

But there's a difference between moving around in the pocket (which he seemed to do pretty well in 2016) and running for yardage. Again, Kelly traded for Sam Bradford, so he's obviously got a version of his offense that can be utilized by less mobile QBs.

Kelly was fairly flexible with his QBs in the NFL, and non-running QBs like Foles had success in his system. This is probably the best case scenario for Speight. I wish nothing but the best for Wilton. He gave a lot for Michigan football, and was a blown call away from bringing us a win over Ohio State playing with a broken collarbone.

Started for one season at Gorman, on an absurdly loaded team, and spent half the year playing Nevada schools who were just trying to not get hurt (the Gaels weren't scored on by a Nevada team until the playoffs). It's not crazy to think that you might want to give him time to adjust to the college game.

And, until they adjusted the league structure after this season, Bishop Gorman, with multiple D-1 players and multi-million dollar facilities, has played teams that don't win a game all year, or trade off wins annually with other awful teams. I've heard administrators talk about playing Gorman in the press box as simply something to endure for a week.

of my usual weekly CFB podcasts (Solid Verbal maybe?) and they were reviewing UCLA’s QB situation and it is pretty grim. Outside of DTR there was Rosen’s backup (name?) who had “a good half” in the bowl game and virtually nothing else.

Apparently they had another Grad transfer lined up from the SEC that fell through.

Better chance for Wilton than most if he is set on staying P5. Good Luck Sir!

I'm not sure if that means he's visiting there.  He's been working out/chilling in LA basically since he left Michigan.  He could just be working out at the UCLA facilities.

I wonder if he contacted San Diego St.  They always have a great run game and pretty good OL.  QB has been a weak area for them for a while now.  Would love to see him compete here.

In Cali w Clarkson. I have seen him many times at Sunday workouts. Clarkson is by far the QB whisperer as they say. I really miss Jedd Fisch

Stay or go.  We're not your safe landing spot while you shop yourself around.  Sorry if you're not as much in demand as you thought you would be when you bailed on us, but you don't get to jerk us around because of that.
