So FSU...thoughts?

Look pretty athletic. If we play our game, however, we can beat them.

Appear to be deep and on a roll. But so is Michigan and Michigan plays some stingy D. Gonzaga didn’t seem to play much of any.

So who knows. Path to the championship game couldn’t have shaped up much better, though. Just have to beat a 9 seed and a 9/11 seed.

Gonna be a tough road for the 15th out of 16 teams left in the tourney...

I’ll take a this Team any day over a squad in Gonzaga who had won 16 straight and made title game last year. Plus, missed one of their key players, and could’ve been back. We got fsu if we play our game.

For the season, they are ranked around PSU and A&M on KenPom. They are athletic but somewhat limited offensively, with nobody really much of an outside threat except their SG, and even he's only okay from deep.
They shoot a lot of FTs and can get up on shooters, but I don't see them being demonstrably different than A&M. Michigan has good athletes and can get defenders on skates.

they seem very long and athletic...and on a  roll.

gonna be tough, but a 2 day turnaround? I'll pick Beilein et al to have the team locked in and coached up.

its the Elite Eight: everyone is playing well.

but the hope is that teams fall back to who they are, ie the team they were during the course of the year...

on paper, before the start of the tournament, we all would have been thrilled with playing FSU to get into the Final Four

The Michigan players liked shooting at The Staples Center tonight. Let that momentum continue with Duncan, Rahk and Mo leading the charge. Sprinkle me in some X, Chuck and Poole. Go Blue!! Fuck the Semen-oles.

It wasn't gerat, but A&M's was a very aggresive all-or-nothing press.  Every time we broke it, we were open for an easy basket but we held the ball to kill off clock.

In a regular game situation, it would give up too many easy points.

A&M had to try it.  It worked 2 or 3 times, but it would have given up a bunch of easy points the rest of the time if we were going for the score.

FSU can't trap like that.

I havent seen a Vegas line yet for UM/FSU.  Let me take a stab at it...guessing UM by 7?  UM by 6?  Certainly no more than 8 and no less than 4.

Matchup-wise, this bodes well. FSU generally doesn't shoot well from deep, and our defense will force them into the same high turnover rate as A&M. However, they go 11-deep and could turn this into a free throw shooting contest, which is the last thing we want. If I were a betting man, I'd say this will be a 5-7 point win. But FSU does post some risk. They don't have as much beef as the Aggies, but they have several guys like Williams who can jump out of the gym.

I love the Mo Wagner barometer - if he delivers an early three then Michigan powers to a victory.  But if the referees call anticipation and phantom fouls then the game could bring me some heart burn.

The 7'4" guy could present some issues inside, obviously. Definitely want to keep Wagner on the floor over Teske. We'll want to stretch the floor and get that guy out of the lane.

fla st is a worse version of texas a&m which is a worse version of houston.  so hit near our normal % on offense and we should cruise to a double digit win.

The similarities to who they just played are obvious. Fine tune the game plan and attack them the same. Let’s hope the baskets remain as kind then check on arrangements for SA.

If Michigan focuses on playing defense the entire 60 minutes, FSU literally wont find the points necessary to win the game.  Beilein's system, even against an athletic team like FSU, will get UM the points that it needs to win.  Its all gonna come down to how focused UM is on playing lockdown D every play, from every player.

Last night's win was insane.  Beyond all expectations, but our 2nd half D was lousy.  Of course, UM has a good excuse for that...UM was up by 28 early in the 2nd half so keeping your focus on D is almost impossible.  However, if UM plays FSU with the same defensive intensity it had against A&M in the 2nd half, FSU will defeat UM.

TL;DR Michigan focused on D entire game, Michigan wins.
