Let's put a bug in Tyler Friday's ear. Let's beat those guys this year.
February 5th, 2018 at 11:20 AM ^
Hard to say if this is a good thing or a bad thing WRT the coaching situation in C-bus. Short term, I think a good thing for recruiting.
February 5th, 2018 at 8:41 PM ^
...we need to wait and see if the Pats can get past his ethical issues.
Kidding!
February 5th, 2018 at 11:25 AM ^
in Columbus? Grinch??
February 5th, 2018 at 1:06 PM ^
That's what many are saying (Football scoop mentioned that in the article). That should be better for Michigan right? He is more of a "defend the spread" guy right?
February 5th, 2018 at 11:41 PM ^
So Knoxville is no longer in play?
February 5th, 2018 at 11:27 AM ^
How many coaches have they lost so far this off season? I know they are a recruiting powerhouse but this kind of turnover has to be better for us than them.
February 5th, 2018 at 10:03 PM ^
timing of coaching changes.
February 5th, 2018 at 11:31 AM ^
I'm assuming Grinch will step in as DC. He was mostly good at WSU so I don't think OSU's defense is going to drop off into disrepair or anything.
February 5th, 2018 at 11:52 AM ^
That guy really is a heel. I wouldn't touch him with a 39 1/2 foot pole.
February 5th, 2018 at 12:04 PM ^
He's a mean one!
February 5th, 2018 at 12:14 PM ^
take the seasick crocodile
February 5th, 2018 at 11:32 AM ^
It will be *confirmed* Thursday, the day after signing day.
February 5th, 2018 at 12:25 PM ^
This guy gets it.
February 5th, 2018 at 11:42 AM ^
I don't think he will be DC at the Pats. Sounds like that would be Brian Flores and Schiano would have another job.
February 5th, 2018 at 11:49 AM ^
per espn assistant HC no less. Schiano and Belichek are supposed to be very good friends.I think Brady plays at least 2 more years. Belichek isnt going anywhere till Brady retires. Schiano must be a very good coach for all his nfl peers to give him so much respect.
February 5th, 2018 at 11:44 PM ^
Naw, they just know he can keep his mouth shut.
February 5th, 2018 at 11:47 AM ^
So that'll be two DCs in two years. It's not unexpected, but OSU's defense definitely improved under him and it'll be interesting to see who they slot in.
February 5th, 2018 at 11:56 AM ^
won't have to deal with potential toxicity in the college game due to ties to PSU
February 5th, 2018 at 11:58 AM ^
yes as a whole the defense gave up less points this past year but the LB's were way worse than last year which paved the way for our 2 losses. Iowa and Oklahoma exposed our LB's with their TE's and wheel routes by the running backs out of the backfield and misdirection/counter trap running plays to take advantage of aggressive LB play. Thank god JT Barret is gone.
February 5th, 2018 at 11:59 AM ^
Schiano will be next DC or at least on the staff with Brian Flores potentially being DC. Site said he hasn't made up his mind. After seeing the Pats d last night, he probably has more talent and athletes in Columbus!
February 5th, 2018 at 12:37 PM ^
And Schiano has a salary cap to deal with in New England.
February 5th, 2018 at 12:04 PM ^
Honestly, Ohio State’s assistant coaching staff is easy to poach. Schiano was the highest paid assistant coach at $700k. Kevin Wilson was next at $650k. Hell, Larry Johnson is only making $475k.
February 5th, 2018 at 1:48 PM ^
Kind of distressing that Kevin Wilson makes half of what drevno does despite being a more proven and superior coach. Our offensive staff is a mess
February 6th, 2018 at 12:43 AM ^
Those numbers are just what's on the books.
February 5th, 2018 at 12:10 PM ^
When it's official.
February 5th, 2018 at 12:18 PM ^
Am trying to imagine, the parallel universe, had Schiano taken the offer to coach here, rather, not reneg..... I wonder where the program would be at the moment.... Sorry to say, I think we'd have been better off....
February 5th, 2018 at 12:36 PM ^
Because Belichick likes him? He plateaued at Rutgers flamed out in Tampa, and the Buckeye defense wasn’t as good as its talent.
February 5th, 2018 at 11:47 PM ^
He would have been better tha RR and Hoke, I think that’s the point.
February 5th, 2018 at 12:21 PM ^
I'll confirm it.
February 5th, 2018 at 1:55 PM ^
unconfirmed until confirmed, but it sounds like it's happening.
February 5th, 2018 at 3:16 PM ^
Did the Pats fire thier DC? /s
Schiano would have his work cut out for him at NE. The Eagles shredded the Pats all game long.
February 5th, 2018 at 7:18 PM ^
The Pats did not fire their DC, he is taking the head coaching job of the Lions. They mentioned it about 20 times during the Superbowl....And BTW I don't think either defense got "shredded" I just think we saw superb offense.
February 5th, 2018 at 8:19 PM ^
Methinks you missed the /s
And yes the defenses got shredded. Over 1100 yards of offense.
February 5th, 2018 at 3:29 PM ^
How long has Grinch been around? Heard he's pretty green.
February 5th, 2018 at 7:46 PM ^
Not til after signing day
