One of the greatest voices in the history of the game has passed. Rest In Peace Keith Jackson.

To that call closely he pretty much does a little gasp when Desmond makes his move and says something like “would you look at that.” It’s such an authentic call and he reacted just like one of us but just happened to have a mike in front of him. He genuinely appreciated the talent on display. He has been sorely missed since retiring and will continue to be.

I remember that very well. Bob was trying so hard not to lose it, but his eyes were welling up and his voice was going south on him. If there ever a picture of a Dad bursting with pride over his son, that was it.

RIP, Keith. You were one of the best ever. Like I said when Dick Enberg passed, listening to him and Jackson was listening to your favorite uncle.

He was definitely my all-time favorite announcer for college football, and might be for any sport.

He was smart about the game, genuine, entertaining and energetic without being over-exuberant. Hasn't been one like him since.

The first Saturday after football season. R.I.P. Keith Jackson. When I fell in love with college football it was conveyed with that voice. I can still hear him open up the Michigan - Ohio State games I saw way back in the 70s. I can still hear that Whoa, Nelly, lock the barn door! He will be missed by us all.

I was fortunate enough to attend the '97 Rose Bowl. When WA St took possession for the final drive of the game, I turned to my best friend and said "If they score, it will make the last play of the CO game look like the best play I have ever seen."

On some level, the painful moments make the sweet moments all the more sweet.

At least that's my rationalization!

I grew up listening to Keith. It’s not technically true but in my mind he was the voice of Michigan football. There has never been another one like him. RIP

Just (half) kidding of course.

He was a once in a lifetime talent / voice.  Other than Vin Scully, I cannot think of anyone as universally well liked and respected by the public as Keith Jackson.
