A thread about women who were abused isn’t the place to bring your stupid rivalry crap in. What should I expect, given we have a president who encourages this type of behavior.

...isn't as clear as you think it is, which is common among troll accounts that are "pretending".  Seems to me a certain president that recently resigned, was pretty cavalier when it comes to the treatment of the abused women of her University.

A little butthurt about the president comment, huh? Since when is standing against sexual assault trolling?

I am about the furthest thing from aligned with Trump politically, but The MGoResistance stuff is embarassing

I applaud conservatives (or moderates who voted their perceived "lesser evil") for not insinuating that Bill Clinton is a rapist on here despite a slew of imbeciles shoehorning the latest EPIC Samantha Bee TAKEDOWN of "DRUMPF" into their dreck on a daily basis.

Youre not witty or edgy or informed.  If you want a proper debate, go find someone who disagrees with you on a forum appropriate for political discussion and have your bubble burst by someone with a clue about the various misdeeds of various politicians.

Listening to brainless buffoons babbling their generic political takes is what one comes to a football board to avoid.

I have not seen a single conservative make that extremely inflammatory statement on this board

I have seen the equivalent said about Trump innumerable times on this board.

The topic at hand is this board.

Another thing you are wrong about:   I did not endorse the political statement, and in fact was using it as an example of a statement I would consider wildly inappropriate for a football board.  It was chosen because it is the other side of the same coin of the incessant "Drumpf is an orange rapist" crowd.

I even used the qualifier "conservatives perceived" before lesser evil, lest I get accused of calling Hillary evil....

I had a good mind to make obvious political statements in response to what I view as unchecked vacuity from the semi-literate crowd like yourself, but I believe I restrained myself. For the record, vacuity is nails on a chalkboard to me, and it spans the entire political spectrum.

The only affirmative point I was making is that this football board is not the place for "bumper sticker politics" of any kind and I believe this line of thinking is in line with the rules.

Know what was waaaaay the fuck more disrespectful to the women who were abused?

Michigan State University.  Thats what.  MSU deserves all it gets and way, way more.  They deserve to be a laughingstock of the highest order.

Call them East Lansing State University.  Take the "Michigan" out of their name.  People in other parts of the country often don't know the difference between U-M and MSU.  I don't want people to think this is our school.

I've just about ran out of reactions at this point.

I have a parent who teaches at MSU and a sibling that went to COM. I can't imagine either of them will wear MSU gear for the foreseeable future.

anyone in the medical field reading that should have their ears perk up and realize something isn't right and needs to be further investigated. serious conversation needs to be had with the person commiting said action to ensure the issue is properly addressed for the safety of all patient's.

This just keeps getting worse and worse.

I'm sickened.  I have a niece who was in gymnastics from age 4 until 14 when she had to retire due to injury.  She was treated by Nassar, but thankfully my Sister-in-law never left her alone with him anytime they saw him, so she was never touched.

I also have a daughter, and the very thought of this whole thing just devastates my desire to believe in the innate goodness of people.

That entire system needs to be taken down, from the Board of Trustees to the trainers.  Burn that motherfucker to the ground.

Wow.  That is stunning.  Details are coming out like wildfire now and each time the "we didn't know about it" defense gets less and less credible.  And if in fact Title IX was violated (and it looks like that might have been an intentional violation - two versions of a report), I assume that is a major problem.

When my 20 year old was looking into schools in Michigan to transfer into, I told him "if you apply to MSU, I will never pay a penny of that tuition". This was in the Spring of 15' . It was specifically because of the culture & attitude of their Basketball & Football programs. I felt that the "sports is the King" attitude had spread too far into other areas of that school by that point. I've lived in & worked in Lansing my entire life. I have seen it change from a "pretty nice place" into something awful. I think it started when they forced former President John Di Biaggio out-of-office, because he was too focused on the "school" part of that school. That's when the "sports first" crowd began their take-over of MSU.

Holy...  Well, between this and the OTL story, we know why Hollis just up and resigned.  I thought it would take another week, or two, before he made the choice.  I hope the indictments are on the way.  If you can't trust medical doctors, let alone the administrators and coaches you send your kids off to, then you can't trust anyone.

I'd like to see an example made of this, and not the lame retraction PSU recieved or the BS Baylor never had to endure.  This is just as disgusting as those cases were, only a helluva lot bigger.

Makes the SMU death penalty seem like some egregious overkill for writing a few checks...

So they either didn't report, or on the off occasion that they did, they falsified the report (or so it seems) in what would seem to be an attempt to get the victim to walk away.  OK, got it.

I am starting to wonder how many more victims are out there, and not just Nassar victims.  How many other cases of assault have been lost, falsified, ignored through the years?  I fear it is not an insignificant number.

Please let justice win the war with anyone deserving punishment, and I am not talking retirements, and resignations.

Ugh this is disgusting. Search Michigan and you get some link to this scandal. We should file for defamation against them to pile it on, force them to be east Lansing state.

for Michigan State here are obvious, and I won't repeat what many others have said. I agree with them.

Maybe less obvious is that right now, every school, every church, every company, every organization needs to be taking a VERY hard look at these items:

1. What kind of policy do you have about sexual abuse, both of minors and adults?

2. How do you communicate it? Is it clear and obvious what the responsibility of every person, including managers, directors and above are whenever they get any report of abuse/harassment, etc? Who do they report it to? Is it clear that when someone is reporting a CRIME that you call the police NOW? Is it written in HR legalese, or words that every person can understand?  1. Call the cops. NOW! 2. Inform your manager. NOW! 3. Hide NOTHING, and speak the truth. it's not your job to determine guilt or innocence, that's for the police.

3. How often do you communicate it? Sticking it on a website doesn't get it done. Putting in a once a year CYA training deck doesn't get it done.

Clear policies, clearly communicated, and oft-repeated. That's what is going to stop guys like Nassar as early as you possibly can (most important) and make your organization one that you can be proud to be a part of, because everybody has the interest of potential victims at heart.

No matter where you are in an organization, top, middle or bottom, I say: Push it now.
