OT: LeBron "Together" Commercial
It's what everyone is talking about...so I'd rather talk about it with people I actually like than the cashier at the grocery store who should really just be bagging a little faster due to the line behind me.
Discuss.

Remember when all of Ohio hated LeBron?

You would have too if he left your favorite team. I don't know if you like an NBA team, but pretend you did. You have the best player on the planet on your team and then he stabs everyone in the back on national TV by going to another team. Sure, it was his right to leave, but the way he did it was the worst choice he ever made. You would have been pissed and mad, too.

I don't remember that at all, actually.

I don't dislike LeBron, but it seems like he's trying to promote loyalty and yeah...seems a little hypocritical.

has literally spent millions of his own dollars to improve his image, especially in the Cleve and Akron. This one is from Nike, but I've seen a few that were just "Lebron" ads.

Beats, McDonald's, Coke/Spite, Nike/LBJ (shoes), PowerAde...

nike makes good ads. not much else to say.

I still hate all things Ohio.

It's a Nike commercial. They do make quality ads but it's still a commercial. Not sure what there is to discuss.

Cleveland with Ann Arbor, and Nike with ... No, keep Nike. Now you've got a quality ad.

Just a little bit of drama. Lil bit.

Love it...Go Cleveland....
October 30th, 2014 at 8:22 PM ^
other than his decision to have a special "The Decision." I don't think you can blame a guy for wanting to win, leaving his hometown and actually becoming a better basketball player.
October 30th, 2014 at 8:37 PM ^
I've never seen an athlete so self-centered as LeBron James in my life, didn't like him in Cleveland the first time...
October 30th, 2014 at 8:57 PM ^
Please elaborate.
Because are you telling me, you'd turn down millions from sponsors who want to plaster your face all over their billboards and commercials?
LOL - some of you all crack me up. Like LeBron is chilling in his basement writing his next Nike commercial. No, that's not how it works. They pay him A LOT of money to use his image, likeness, etc. and put their logo on it.
How come no one bashing Bo Jackson for "Bo Knows" or Michael Jordan for "Be Like Mike" or Tiger Woods for "I Am Tiger Woods?"
NIKE GON NIKE my man. Always and forever.
On the court people compare him to Magic Johnson and bash him for passing TOO much. That doesn't sound like a self-centered person. So that comment couldn't have come from his on the court play.
"The Decision" was an awful decision that what, a 24 year old made, who had never been recruited, who had a bunch of people around him tugging at him, and had the lure of playing with his buddies. And someone along the way told him it would be okay if he raised all of the money for the Akron Boys and Girls club.
It was f-ing ridiculous and that was a very selfish and idiotic show...but 18 year olds do it the first week in February every year and it's celebrated.
...or is this because he's a businessman and has a very good management team around him? Can you blame LeBron that ESPN loves him even more than dare I say, MGoBlog loves Kate Upton?
I can name a bunch of athletes more "self-centered" than LeBron. We he leaves he's selfish. When he comes back. He's selfish.
Hate him if you want, you're a fan. Hate whoever you want. But be honest as to why you hate him. In the same way you're honest in why you hate OSU or MSU. There's nothing wrong for hating LeBron, "just because." But saying you hate him because he's self-centered is like me saying "I hate OSU because they suck."

to the Boy's/Girl's club, he has unselfishly donated to local Akron schools to ensure kids graduate high school. I believe he will pay for their college. And, he takes time to go visit the kids on a regular basis.
He is, in my opinion, a role model for other super star athletes.

The he dude is the definition of douche bag... That same one that everyone grew up with in high school.. Every school has that guy, except they usually grow up..... Not this guy

Have to admit that if lived in Cleveland, or if Lebron played for Detroit, I'd be stoked on it.

Not a fan of Lebron because of the decision crap. Dan Gilbert on the other had can go gimp off a tall bridge without a parachute.

That commercial is pretty riveting. But also, possibly, everything that is wrong with sports and America. I don't know man. Cleveland's economy is pretty rough and that arena was paid for w/ public tax dollars. All to worship a guy making millions. To see that many people getting pumped for basketball and shoes...I know it's staged but so was "Triumph of the Will."
/slowly steps off of soap box

Eh I disagree. If you're talking about the $26 million renovation that was agreed upon before LeBron came back. The new scoreboard and sound system the same thing. The reasoning was so they could attract more national level events like the republican national convention that is there this summer. It all just happened at the same time as Bron came back. I guarantee downtown Clv saw more money come through it's stores yesterday than any day after the 2007 Finals.

I thought it was one of the cheesiest and overly dramatic commercials that I have ever seen. Nike is usually much better than this, in my opinion. And I am a Cavs/Cleveland sports fan.

There was recently an article about Mavrick Carter, one of LBJ's marketing guys, and he talked about how they basically wanted to focus the ads from his sponsors in a way that LBJ wanted it to go - sort of a creative license. Thought of that when I saw the Nike, Sprite and Beats commercials. A savy business move on the part of the LBJ camp.
