OT: Hate to Disappoint You R. English Fans
I hate to dissapoint all of you Ron English Fans, HOWEVA, Mr. English will be returning to coach the EMich Hurons, doh, Eagles next fall:
"Absolutely, he'll be back," Gragg said. "I like the direction the program is going. Ron is one of the most resilient people I know."

I hope he can turn the EMU program around
November 26th, 2010 at 2:34 PM ^
Jeff Genyk:
2004: 4-7
2005: 4-7
2006: 1-11
2007: 4-8
2008: 3-9
Ron English:
2009: 0-12
2010: 2-9
He's certainly turned it around, but I have the sense the the vector might not be favorable at the moment.
As with RichRod at UMich, casual EMU fans (like me) might not know the full story, so *I* will refrain from things like UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Improve by two wins a year....sounds familiar...by the reasoning of some around here, that calls for an extension, not derision.
November 26th, 2010 at 3:20 PM ^
Harbaugh path. Next year, they win 6 and are bowl eligible! I'd rather have him as our DC, but no chance of it.
November 26th, 2010 at 1:56 PM ^
expect him to put 60+ on him.
November 26th, 2010 at 2:08 PM ^
I'm not sure if you mean we'll put up 60 on the eagles or they'll bomb us for 60. I want to say you mean we'll gunsling the eagles, but given how bad our defense is, I can't be 100% certain.
November 26th, 2010 at 2:16 PM ^
... I think you mean pronouns.
November 26th, 2010 at 2:21 PM ^
I will always +1 people who grammar nazi grammar nazis. That's right, I just turned "grammar nazi" into a verb.
November 26th, 2010 at 2:28 PM ^
You grammar whore
November 26th, 2010 at 3:21 PM ^
I prepositioned a grammar whore once...
November 26th, 2010 at 6:20 PM ^
That's gotta do wonders to your colon. Get it?
November 26th, 2010 at 2:54 PM ^
Prepositional pronouns?
November 26th, 2010 at 2:09 PM ^
I thought Ron English is the MASTER of stopping the spread.

You sure are the bold predictor of the day!
November 26th, 2010 at 2:08 PM ^
Bring back Jim Herrmann...it worked before...it will work again...best college defensive coordinator I've ever seen.
November 26th, 2010 at 2:29 PM ^
I'm sure that's exactly what you were saying in 2005
November 26th, 2010 at 7:32 PM ^
i personally think gerg was much better; gerg mattison that is. i think herrman just carried on what mattison started; a more aggressive D. after 1997 the D gradually declined under herrmann, imo.
i still can't believe that 2000 northwestern game. giving up 50+ pts with all that nfl talent on that D.
November 26th, 2010 at 2:21 PM ^
is Eastern Michigan going exactly?
November 26th, 2010 at 2:29 PM ^
Eastern is getting absolutely pounded right now.
But yeah, he should still totally be coach next year.
November 26th, 2010 at 2:30 PM ^
absolutely pwned by NIU today, 65-3 at the start of the 4th quarter. It's NIU, yes, but they're still not a ranked team. And the game is at EMU. Not sure if this is the direction that Gragg was talking about.
November 26th, 2010 at 2:42 PM ^
I know we have a DC today, but I am just trying to get a jump start on a couple days from now. This guy seems to be a pretty good choice, he's been around the Big 10. Hell, he maybe a better option than Casteel!
Sorry, Tim Kish is the current CO-DC at Arizona under Mike Stoops

Another thread where UM fans get to argue with no one but their own demons.
Exactly HOW many Ron English fans were there when RR was hired? two or three? That's what I thought.
Oh, I'm sure there are several more now that Rodriguez has shown he forgot about defense altogether, but nevertheless.
Keep arguing with the voices in your heads, guys.
November 26th, 2010 at 2:58 PM ^
EMU gave up over 550 rushing yards on more than 15 ypc...I'll pass
November 26th, 2010 at 3:23 PM ^
Ron English doesn't pay any attention to the defensive side of the ball <snark>.
Ron English is resilient like Mayhem.
November 26th, 2010 at 4:38 PM ^
Just isnt an EMU guy. But to his defense the last 8 coaches left the cupboard bare...
November 26th, 2010 at 7:22 PM ^
EMU is a doomed program. It really should drop from D1-A. And frankly, if the NCAA had the balls to stick to it's bypass regarding D1-A eligibility, i think that they would be required to drop due to lack of attendance.
November 26th, 2010 at 7:38 PM ^
Giving up 544 yards rushing and 71 points to Northern Illinois sounds like a typical defensive performance around these parts.

If I were a Ron English fan, wouldn't I be happy about this?
