OT: Happy Winter Solstice!

Submitted by FauxMo on

Today, we here in Ann Arbor will only get about 9 hours and 5 minutes of sunlight, least of the year. But look on the bright side - nothing but longer todays between now and June 21, 2018!

Is anyone further north than Ann Arbor? Anyone in, like, northern Sweden or Alaska, where you already haven't had sun at all for a few days and won't again until the New Year? If so, we are all here for you. Please don't fall into a deep depression and do anything rash...

I’ve spent Winter Solstice Day in Iceland before, and it’s really dark. People have “all day” parties and that kind of thing to try to keep the blues at bay.

what do you think?

in the UP we just call that 'winter' and everybody wants a white Christmas.  we'll have one this year, and that is a good thing.  wish it would snow more.  probably get some tonight.

XM--- I thought you studied at UM --it's masonry, the trade using brick and mortar and stone. Masonary is some Traverse City abomination that some preacher mixes up with the missionary life or position. I kid only since I've met you twice and your sons. Happy Holidays and seek me out next year at a game.

Skewered by my friend scanner blue for a typo, oh woe is me.
Have a great time at the hoops game tonight. And don't worry, you have spoiled us from entering at any other gate but yours. We'll be sticking to you like gum to a shoe.
Merry Christmas, Carl!
