I was in college, working nights at a bowling alley. Saw it four or five times in the theatre, and it’s my favorite movie to this day. The job T-Bone Burnett did of cobbling together such an amazing hodgepodge of music was nothing short of miraculous.

Saw Raising Arizona dozens of times in highschool and was completely blown away by Fargo, and liked the Hudsucker Proxy, Miller's Crossing and Barton Fink, so I had high expectations for The Big Lewbowski.  I also lived in LA* and bowled at the bowling alley they filmed at.

...and I was really really disappointed with The Big Lewbowski.   There wasn't really much of a plot and not much happened.

Then a friend told me that the lack of plot was the point of the movie.  It was an experience.  The dude abides.

I re-watched the movie and have loved it ever since.

*I lived in the neighborhood Swingers was filmed in a year after the movie came out.  I saw Vince Vaughn at the Big Lewbowski bowling alley a couple of times. (Cool story bro)

Look, I love Lebowski as much as anyone, but to call it one of the greatest movies of all time is a bit of a stretch.  Could be one of the, if not THE most quotable movie of all time, though.

Go ahead, go ahead, give me the "yeah, well... that's just your opinion, man" gif, meme.

I was first introduced to this movie around 2002 and I've called White Russians caucasians ever since.
