He's been with the organization since 2007, and he "won't meddle with personnel decisions," but he has no head coaching experience (unless you include 1 year with the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe and one game as an interim in SF). Smart, San Francisco. Real smart.

But hey, your stupidity is our gain.

Scuttlebutt had this as the pick all along. Who cares if the team wins, fans will show up to Santa Clara for the next couple of years regardless and Cousin Baalke can start rebuilding. In the meantime they have a hand picked caretaker that will do what he is told and suffer the losing out of loyalty.

when I was reading your OP, I immediately thought of Hoke when I read "he won't meddle with personnel decisions," .

The way the 49ers operate and this coaching hire, quickly reminded me of Dave Brandon hiring his puppet Brady Hoke. (just feel I have to make a note.. I like Hoke, but we all know, he was a puppet to Brandon as he had no leverage, he wanted the job BADLY!).

but it turns out that Brandon actually had a verbal agreement with Harbaugh to coach Michigan after RR. Harbaugh backed out. At least that's the current story out there. And if it's true, the whole "Brandon wanted a puppet" thing is complete crap.

Talk radio out here is blaring with people utterly pissed off. I heard on guy today saying that he was switching his fanhood to the Raiders since the niners abandoned the fans in San Francisco by moving to boring soulless, moneyed Santa Clara and for hiring an inexperienced yes man who will kiss much butt and destroy the team that Jim built. 'Twas hilarious.

Hey gustave, I made up that quote trying to be funny.  My apologies if my intent wasn't clear.  One of the noted causes of the friction between JH and the Niners was JH not wearing a suit to the opening ceremonies of the new stadium (I believe).  Everyone else wore a suit and tie while JH showed up in his khakis and left as soon as he could.  Apparently, that did not sit well with the brass, and as we all know, the purpose of professional sports organizations is to look good at PR events.  /s

Anyway, again my apologies if I misled you.

Balke just wants to prove how brilliant he is with all the top 5 picks the 49ers are going to get over the next 8 seasons.  Say goodbye to the best NFL rivalry of the last 4 seasons.
