You want offensive tackles? Michigan offered a huge one in 6'9", 305 lb. Jacob Dean from Walled Lake (MI) Western. There must be something in the water in Walled Lake, because they had a kid named Robert Hudson (6'8", 320) sign with Iowa State in the 2017 class.

That's a very good question. They lost to Waterford Mott in the regular season and Livonia Franklin in the first round of the playoffs. Livonia Franklin went to the state championship game. Western was 8-2.

Actually, the Flint River flows NNW out of the city of Flint and eventually joins the Saginaw River, emptying into Lake Huron. Walled Lake doesn't appear to have an outlet, but falls within the Huron River watershed, which eventually enters Lake Erie.

Magnus is right. There has got to be something in their water cause the amount of size they have in that high school is ridiculous. I'm not talking just football either, all sports. Played against their baseball team too, and is massive in size as well.

BTW, Western's LT is a junior 6'6", 300-pounder named Spencer Brown. Michigan hasn't offered him, at least not yet.

is recruiting. Brown started out at WL Northern and per this article was recruited to Western. There are apartments all over the place for families to move into, so transfers are easy. Northern is far superior to Western academically, so it was clearly a football related move. In his case it could also have been under school of choice since Walled Lake schools allow moves between schools if there is room.

The kid who is ineligible to play hoops at Clarkston moved from Another County. Macomb (Dakota).

Last fall I was in central West Virginia, and I attended a HS game between Braxton County and Lewis County. Braxton is the county I live in when I'm in WV. Prior to the game I got to walk by both teams, and the Lewis linemen were huge compared to Braxton. I thought, "Uh oh, this is going to be a long night."
Nope. The Lewis County linemen, despite their height and size advantage, had poor technique. The Braxton defensive line was able to get under the pads of the Lewis linemen time and again. Stood 'em up, allowing the linemen and the linebackers to break up the plays. Braxton won the game.
Which makes me wonder ... is there such a thing as "too tall" for OT? At 6'9" he has reach, no doubt. But can he bend enough to avoid losing leverage?

He doesn't seem to fit the mold of what I envision as a Frey tackle prototype (i.e., athletic, perhaps under-sized but could put on pounds while maintaining speed, agility). What do we think the coaches are focusing on here?

This one truly is a head scratcher.
The only thing I can think of is we received intel that the kid is improving by leaps and bounds and has a huge ceiling, because his tape is not good, nor is his offer sheet.
I don't think we even recruited Cody White, yet this kid gets an offer?
The only other thing I can think of is that Farmington Hills Harrison (which is notorious for getting kids from all over Detroit to move into their district) is closing and Walled Lake Western might see some of that action moving forward and we're planting seeds, but still....
