Winning a play-in game shouldn’t count. Just gets you in the tourney. Still, being even with UK/Duke and having a chance to tie UNC for most wins in that stretch is pretty bonkers.

Agreed the tournament is everything announced on selection Sunday. Not to mention the 16 seeds that play in the play in game received an “automatic” bid so that round has to count by rule

Please, if it was MSU instead no one on this board would be giving credit. Technicalities aside of what is or is not considered part of tourny , it is different because typically an 11 seed does not get the chance to play another 11 seed and rack up a tourny win. With or without it Beileins track record stands amongst the elites, but including that is a bit of a cheapie.

I share this feeling, always bothered me. My coaches always told us that you play these games to get into the tournament. And trust me, when you lost, you didn't feel like you were part of the tournament.

I hope he stays off the blog.

There was an article I think in CBS this morning pointing out how Michigan fans wanted Beilein fired as recently as last season. They had a screen shot of one of Maizen’s negative MGoBlog posts as an example.

Maizen as a voice for any fan base is really, really unfortunate. He just spouts negative shit and when negative shit happens, which it is wont to do from time to time, he thinks he was correct, which only encourages him. He was dead wrong on Beilein - every opinion he had going way back, which is truly remarkable. I hope he, or any other him, never comes back to this blog. He’s never had a well-calculated opinion, a knowledgeable opinion. He’s the worst kind of sports fan. I see what’s going on and I hate it. And also I will ignore any context or statistics or information because I like to complain.

...said a couple years ago that the JB regime was going to end in giant wet fart noise. Maizen was no doubt overly negative (and kinda of ass), but his general feelings were pretty consistent with lots of folks around here, including this blog’s creator.

Why are we acting like Maizen was the only one that wanted Beilein gone before Feb 2017 happened?

Even Brian wrote a front page article suggesting Beilein's ceiling has been met here and that it's time to start looking around for successors.

The scapegoating ya'll do to absolve yourselves of feeling bad for potentially feeling the same way as someone is hilarious.

Most of the Michigan fanbase was on the same boat as Maizen, just not as blunt about it.

Maizen was on the Fire Beilein right fucking now, He sucks boat. Most Michigan fans weren’t on that boat at all. They knew they’re were some recent deficiencies, and were discussing what happens next if these are not addressed, which they were of course, because he has proven time and time again his adaptability, from WVU to now in D-1. Many also commented here that they knew Beilein was a strong coach, and even during that tough time, they weren’t too worried. See those game threads. Same with Brian’s post, which he was worried, but not on the Beilein can’t do shit boat.

Maizen really just screams sports hot takes, always negative, no matter the sport, with nothing other than his outrage to prove his argument, and that’s why he’s become a legendary idiot around here, and it was fun to watch his anger for awhile, but now it’s just old and annoying. Any of his words being used as a mouthpiece for this fan base is a terrible representation.

It makes sense though, this post, as you trashed these guys in the game thread, with much of the same ill informed outrage as Maizen - They are missing shots, so they suck, they are garbage, leave Simpson in SA, even though without his defense that game isn’t won, no matter his offensive struggles type stuff- and then you are the first to post a celebration thread after. Same kind of fan. Every fan base has them, but it’s unfortunate on this blog, which prides itself of mainly reasonable, anaylitical commentary.

Spare me the bullshit of holier than thou fandom.

MGoBlog is RCMB except with more numbers and stats.

The football team is somehow going to pull its shit together next year and people like you are going to go back through archived threads pulling out comments saying "we're a basketball school etc etc etc" being like "SEE I WAS A TRUE FAN UNLIKE THESE DOPES."

Cry me a river. At the end of the day you're complaining about vocab on the internet in 2018.

Try and be a better fan. Try not to spout garbage everywhere. That’s all I’m saying. It’s emotional, I know, but if you’re an asshole with a shitty opinion maybe keep it to yourself. These are kids playing a game. It’s not the vocab. It’s the content behind the vocab, which is wildly shortsighted. Like blunt profanity is what I’m talking about, is the issue here. It’s not. You acted like an asshole, so now you’re the one trying to absolve yourself, like you accuse other fans of doing.

Your literal problem with me is my vocab. Don't try to pretend it's about "fandom."

If I said MAAR and Z are playing bad evidenced by Eli Brooks and Ibi Watson getting major minutes, you would have no qualm.

Instead I said MAAR and Z are playing trash, so you have a problem.

Both are the same thing exception being vocab.

Have you found MAAR yet btw?

Uh yeah I did as titled by the thread I made. Charles, Wagner and Poole got the team through it with some help from Duncan.

As I said yesterday, I am quite happy. Sorry if my vocab offends you.

I can't wait for you guys to shit on other posters once the football team gets its act together and pretend like you knew it all along!

I can't speak for anybody else, but I have a problem with anyone who calls players "trash." Your message basically translates to "If I used reason to advance my argument, you'd respect it, but because I disdain reason and choose to be dehumanizingly rude instead, you dismiss it."  Which, well, yeah.

They're not the same thing, and the fact that you can't see that is disappointing.

Keep in mind, these are supposedly the players you support, who are competing on a stage built so that people like you and me can bask in the reflected glory of young men we're never likely to meet, despite the toll it takes upon their body, for no pay besides a college scholarship.  Try to show a little bit of class.

If nothing else, think about how you'd feel if any of these players were reading your comments, or if their families were.  Or, imagine how you'd feel if you were trying to do your job in front of 60K screaming fans, TV cameras broadcasting it to the world, and random internet commenters criticizing your every mistake and degrading you?

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

PS: Ibi Watson got one minute last night.  Eli Brooks got 3.

I'm astonished that a poster on this board is trying to pretend that "vocab" is somehow interdependent of meaning and that other, less offensive word would say the exact same thing.

I've seen a lot of "Trolly McTrollson tries to pretend he's not a troll" moments here, but you take the cake.  Troll.

Most? I highly disagree with that notion. And what makes Maizen different, to the point of being called out here? Is he here if he isn't bitching about something? Does he ever walk back his negative takes when they turn out false? He was bitching incessantly about Beilein in November, and the hockey team about two weeks before reaching the Frozen Four. Here we stand with Michigan on the precipice of potentially winning a national championship in both sports, yet he is conspicuous by his absence .

with mid level recruits with a exception of one or two here and there..THATS the most impressive thing about that record....And after the FBI Investigation we see that many of those schools have been bribing those 5* recruits to get them so even MORE Impressive for JB...
