Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

This came into the mailbox today.  FYI for all you folks who might go to our bowl game.  This is as good as a time as any to start the wild speculation about our final record, our bowl, and who we'll play.  Let the guesses go wild.

Thank you for your support of Michigan Athletics. Because of your investment in Michigan Athletics, you now have exclusive access to request bowl tickets.

Please note that donors and season ticket holders who do not take advantage of the priority request period may order bowl tickets during the public sale, subject to availability. It is important to be aware that a general public bowl sale is not guaranteed and will only occur if tickets remain after the priority request period. There is no priority when ordering during the public sale.

You may indicate your ticket request for each potential bowl game:

  • Sign In to your on-line account
  • Complete the Bowl Request Application
  • Retain your order confirmation

I'm hoping a New Years six bowl, but that seems very unlikely at that point.  If not NY6, I'm hoping Holiday Bowl, since I live in San Diego and that maximizes my ability to go to the game.  Assuming Holiday, Stanford or Arizona is my hope, purely for storyline reasons.

reason has historically been one of the most exciting bowls.  i have been to a number of them and they were barn burners - byu v. psu in the '80's, along with a couple of iowa v. whomever games.  plus i always thought the murph (qualcomm) was my favorite place to play.  facilities were nice, stadium was laid out pretty well, traffic not a problem, etc.

From my research it looks like visiting fans tend to sit in LL or in the corner around section X.  I scored a pair of tickets row 51 in W, basically looking straight down the goal line, for $158 apiece out the door on SeatGeek.  Prices have been generally rising a bit over the past week but holding mostly steady.

but I always thought Holiday Bowl was more prestigious than Foster Farms.  Maybe with Levi Stadium being a newer stadium, and the future of Qualcomm stadium uncertain that's changing.  Of course we want to win out, and maybe we will.  Michigans prospects look better after the way we dominated Minnesota.  Cotton Bowl is on Dec. 29 this year at Jerry World.  If we won out, we might play there, possibly against USC, taking OSU's projected place.    New Years Day games are a lot of fun and when Michigan is playing then I always stay in the night before to be "ready".  Kind of a night before Christmas feeling, plus safety play.  Any of these bowl games are good as long as we win.

Would love for us to get a great, higher ranked opponent wherever we land to spring board us into next year.

Unless Michigan wins out to make it 10-2 to a NY6 bowl, which isn't necesarily a guarantee even if we do win out (we may need some help elsewhere), I'm very much hoping for a California bowl.

I think Holiday in San Diego (vs. Washington State, Stanford, or Arizona) or Outback in Tampa (vs. LSU or Mississippi State) are looking like the two options as long as we:

  1. Beat Maryland
  2. Do NOT win out.

Sick of the Florida bowl games and I selfishly would like something that's driving distance for us West Coast Wolverines!

If we do win out and sneak into a New Year's Six Bowl, I'd very much hope for the Fiesta Bowl in Phoenix. They wouldn't put us in Orange, Cotton would be a bummer because we were just there in September and Peach is lame because Georgia in December is much worse than Arizona.

We haven't been to California since the last Rose Bowl trip in 2006. I understand the Outback Bowl is higher in the pecking order but Holiday or Foster Farms would be solid in my book. Depending where we finish it could also mean Outback or even a return to the Citrus Bowl like two years ago. Even with winning out, depends where others fall to see us land in NY6.
