The Meat Factory produces yet again

Michigan Track's Grant Cartwright, Joe Ellis and Andrew Liskowitz make up the Michigan Meat Factory.

The 3 athletes compete in the field events and have lived up to the hype.

Last season, Grant Cartwright won Michigan's 2nd-ever B1G Indoor Championship in the Weight Throw with Joe Ellis finishing runner-up to his teammate.

During the Outdoor Track season, it was Joe Ellis who brough thome a B1G title, this time in the Hammer Throw with Cartwright finishing 4th. Liskowitz and Cartright both brought home a bronze medal in the Shot Put and Discus respectively.

Well, the Meat Factory once again produced. Today, Joe Ellis gave Michigan its 3rd B1G Indoor Championship in the Weight Throw, smashing the program record with a 23.64M throw. Cartwright took home bronze in the event.

The Michigan Men finished in 6th as a team today with the Meat Factory producing the only individual title.

The Michigan Women finished in 8th but had 3 B1G Champions.

Claire Kieffer-Wright added an indoor High Jump title after winning it outdoors last season, today with a jump of 1.81M.

Haley Meier sniped the lead and gold on the last lap of the Mile, winning it with a time of 4:46.05

And the Michigan Distance Medley Relay team of Haley Meier, Jade Harrison, Clare Borchers & Hannah Meier avenged last year's defeat, taking the title this year with a time of 11:04.77

Disappointing that the team finishes were not higher. Women's coach James Henry touched on it in a post-meet video on Facebook saying that the distance and mid-distance is our bread and butter but we cannot win championships without being more balanced.

The women won both Indoor and Outdoor Track championships in 2016.

Now that the facilities are on par with the best in the country, recruiting better athletes should become easier for the coaches. Hopefully the best runners from Michigan won't be so quick to go South or West to run Track.
