Good luck to you Alex except when you play my favorite MAC team the EMU Eagles. #etough #thefactory #flyeaglesfly

Excellent bear-in-the-woods photo!

He should do well there. I'll be rooting for him as long as he isn't playing CMU.
January 22nd, 2018 at 6:12 PM ^
I'll root for him as long as he isn't playing Michigan. And if he is playing Michigan I might as well become a Miami (NTM) fan...

Oxford is a great college town
January 22nd, 2018 at 6:22 PM ^
True story.
January 22nd, 2018 at 6:58 PM ^
where the pretties girls go?
January 22nd, 2018 at 7:39 PM ^
Extremely true.
January 22nd, 2018 at 9:11 PM ^
I scoffed at that stereotype until I met one, then another, then another, etc.
January 23rd, 2018 at 10:19 AM ^
They'll take your money and blacken your soul, those Miami girls.

Oxford is a BORING AS FUCK college town.
-fixed by a Dayton Flyer
January 22nd, 2018 at 6:29 PM ^
So you would rather worry about getting shot in downtown Dayton than dying from alcohol poisoning in Oxford?
January 22nd, 2018 at 6:33 PM ^
Bullets ain't boring.
January 22nd, 2018 at 8:50 PM ^
There is little to no crime in Downtown Dayton. Especially in the new Water Street / Stadium District. The neighborhoods (just like Detroit) are rough, but Downtown is actually making a resurgence. Sure, there are still abandoned buildings but the Oregon District, new condos / apartments / hotel and CareSource have done wonders for the Downtown community.
January 22nd, 2018 at 11:06 PM ^
You're hanging out in the neighborhoods, right? Had to buy anybody's grandmother a new hat?
January 23rd, 2018 at 9:15 AM ^
did some damage to me and my buddies livers about 10 years ago when we did a spontaneous bar crawl after a long week of trying to get product off a manufacturing line.
That was a great place to drink.
January 22nd, 2018 at 6:44 PM ^
There is literally no need to ever step foot in downtown Dayton if you don’t want to when you attend the University of Dayton.

Back in 94ish I think. Kid Rock was in his hip hop fusion pre fame days and had a following that came in from out of town to see him play at Rick's. A Buddy and I were walking across the street from the place when two cars passed each other while turning, we heard a loud pop and glass from one of the cars breaking and the cars hauled ass out of there We were standing there like dummies wondering what the loud noise was, neither of us were military vets so we didn't hit the deck. Yeah, Kzoo. Got my WMU degree, so there's that.
January 22nd, 2018 at 11:29 PM ^
Kid Rock sucks.
January 23rd, 2018 at 11:14 AM ^
Saw him in Atlanta maybe ten years ago, suprisingly he's pretty talented but yes now that he's into politics I can imagine he has developed a hater base. Personally if I had the fame and money I would not go blowing it by getting into politics
January 22nd, 2018 at 6:35 PM ^
It's a perfect "bubble" college town (very insular -- but hey, that was perfect for me at the time), and a very short drive to Cincy from there.
I'm thrilled he's headed there; I'll definitely try and take in a home game or two (likely some Wednesday night MACtion) in 2018.
January 22nd, 2018 at 6:45 PM ^
I’m kidding, I had some great great times with friends at Miami.
January 23rd, 2018 at 4:09 AM ^
Haha I had a few friends that went there and I definitely would not say it’s boring. It personally wasn’t my scene but if one is “preppy” and into Greek life then Miami would probably actually be ideal for them. They have one of the biggest Greek communities in the country and extremely attractive women in those sororities. Alex might just fit in perfectly.

Spent many nights throwing back a couple at Mac N Joes, watching Thursday Night Hockey with Thorne and Clement.

best hockey announcing pair ever
January 22nd, 2018 at 7:58 PM ^
Wish NBC kept them when they took over the NHL from ESPN.

Went to Miami after not getting into Michigan. Best decision I ever made.
January 22nd, 2018 at 7:22 PM ^
My dream school was UM. The financial aid package they offered couldn't compete with the almost full ride Miami offered.
No regrets.
January 22nd, 2018 at 7:42 PM ^
I love the college towns, but they didn’t fall in line with the parameters of my parents paying for school.
Those parameters were made right when parents started getting facebook.
January 22nd, 2018 at 8:22 PM ^
I had college credit I earned in high school thru Saint Louis U that Miami accepted as transfer credit. My dream school Michigan did not. So, I could go to Miami as a 2nd semester sophomore with half the Miami plan electives out of the way or start from scratch at Michigan.
Miami it was

I opted for Cambridge.
January 22nd, 2018 at 9:44 PM ^
Very much enjoyed Cambridge punting!
January 23rd, 2018 at 6:57 PM ^
Cambridge and English humor, Cambridge Punting is almost for sure a filthy euphemism. You sir are disgusting.

Athens >>> Oxford, but that's coming from a proud OU grad so I may be a bit biased. Also, best of luck to Alex except when he plays my Bobcats!
January 23rd, 2018 at 6:59 PM ^
...graduate from Ohio?
January 22nd, 2018 at 6:25 PM ^
Good luck to him. I will always what happened to this former 4 star that he couldn't beat out Speight.
January 22nd, 2018 at 6:34 PM ^
I am curious how much of a chance Alex Malzone had during practice to show his skills. I would imagine that Harbaugh gave him equal snaps to start the offseason, but it still boggles my mind that Malzone's name just never seemed to be in contention for even the backup spot.
Anyways, best of luck to the young man, and hopefully he tears it up in the MAC. Just wish we could have seen Malzone at least once in a meaningful series to see even a glimmer of his potential.

Brother Rice dude headed to Miami makes sense
January 22nd, 2018 at 7:12 PM ^
Best player on their baseball team is a Rice Grad. Malzones former teammate.
January 22nd, 2018 at 6:51 PM ^
Who is Matt Leach on the M Zone? Jamie Morris is still good, but need to find a replacement for Marcus Ray. Show is going downhill.
January 22nd, 2018 at 9:50 PM ^
I love Jamie Morris but he is not adding much on radio. That whole show is a disaster. Marcus was too opinionated, closed minded. The show has about the same five callers every day.
January 23rd, 2018 at 9:52 AM ^
But this Leach needs to go, and every time they have the BBQ people on, I switch back to the Huge show, which isn’t really any better....
January 22nd, 2018 at 6:55 PM ^
It’s simple. There is Miami University and the University of Miami.
January 22nd, 2018 at 8:43 PM ^
It's simple but (NTM) is MGoBlog convention, and there is also the Miami Zoo, Miami Gardens, Port Miami, the Miami River and a whole host of things in Dade County with Miami in the name.
January 23rd, 2018 at 10:33 AM ^
I know the history of this NTM/YTM thing, but just feel it would be better to use Miami University and the University of Miami. I do know that the people in charge of Miami University hate it when they're referred to as Miami of Ohio. They're completely separate schools with different names.
