Never been a fan of Hughson, and I've tried. I honestly don't understand how he gets the high-profile stuff. Thorne was good in his prime but a step below, couldn't hold up to the Canadian guys or to Doc.

Cuthbert is sharp, professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about the game. He uses his voice well and calls the games crisply. He meets the moments of the games he calls perfectly.

His calls of the 03 Wings-Canucks series were epic. The vague Canadian homerism (with a dash of Steve Yzerman admiration) made it all the more perfect.

Sides, who cares? I'm not even pretending to offer an objective list, just a subjective one of my favorites. Though in-his-prime Cole should rate highly on any list.

Doing a pretty good job pumping Michigan during the game, though. Even the Sparty color guy. When you have announcers who care about the sport, know it, and are good at integrating their passion into the broadcast (a key skill that differentiates between insightful guys and guys who sound like they're reading for a script, even if they're actually really sharp) you get good stuff.

How has Quinton Hughes been here? Living up to the hype? Watching today's game he stands out as a skater and decision maker at least. Seems to be the most likely defenseman to fall to Detroit in the draft given the prospect rankings available now (unless we hit lottery gold, fingers crossed).

Dang that is a really good ND team.

We got some work to do. Let’s look forward to hopefully pulling off another sweep over the Gophers next weekend. Until then, they gotta work on puck security. Too many turnovers IMO.

I don't feel overwhelmingly outplayed.

There was what felt like 5 minutes (though it was 2) where we couldn't clear the puck in the 3rd.  That strecth felt like we were overmatched, but two 2-1 losses against this team, with even strength goals, feels promising.

Hail Mel.

Totally agree. I didn't feel like we were outplayed. Just they happened to win because better teams should win games.

Things are going pretty smoothly. I love Mel Pearson, it feels like he is the Beilein of hockey.
