Jon Teske Appreciation Thread

Submitted by JWG Wolverine on

Since we're giving appreciation to our offensive leader for this game, let's give some credit to the our defensive big man who bailed us out of many nerve-racking situations!

NINE REBOUNDS!

Good game Jon!

Onward to Nebraska! Go Blue!

Had some big defensive stops, but man, that guy needs, like to be able to do a 2” vertical. If he could do that he could be elite. There were several time where if he could get his feet off the ground, he would have blocked a few more shots.

he definitely played well otherwise.  Provided big minutes with Moe in foul trouble.

I'm also going to make this the de facto Charles Matthews Appreciation thread.

41 minutes, great defense, led the team in scoring with 16 points (efficiently!), had 2 OREBS, 2 assists and most importantly ZERO turnovers for a 120 Ortg.

Duncan bailed us out with huge shots at the end but Matthews had a good game throughout.

Way to step up on the glass Teske! He’s getting better and better! Next year he’s gonna be a monster. Go Blue! Beat Nebraska!

Despite not having his shots fall, he played great defense, rebounded, and was generally a nightmare for Iowa to deal with in the post. He's a great player, even if it doesnt show up in the stat sheet at times.

I thought with Wagner leaving, you guys would be weaker next year, but now I don't think that's true. You guys did well beating an inspired Iowa team as well as the referees.

Impressive win Wagner and MAAR fouled out. Beat Nebraska!

He sunk like 4 free throws to secure the win and had close to a double double. He's going to have to play better if we expect to beat you in the semifinals. Ward also. He did nothing against you guys.

I remember you from last time. Happy to see you trying again. Just an honest suggestion -- use "Michigan" instead of "You". Saying "you" makes you a "them". Write it this way and you're just a guy talking hoops and not such an obvious "them":

"He's going to have to play better if State expects to beat Michigan in the semifinals. Ward also. He did nothing in the first game."

We know who your team is. Don't act like such an outsider. We're all just here for Michigan-centric sports chatter, same as you. If you're fair, I don't care who your favorite team is.

It's easy to focus on the giant man in the paint and feel like he's in the middle of everything, but it just seemed like he was always right there.  The tap to Duncan was a great hustle play.  Really can't wait to see where he goes.

I imagine it's a point of pride when players get an appreciation thread, and I'm sure friends & fam will point it out to them if they didn't already notice.

So, given that student-athletes are likely reading these after hard-won battles -- in which they get out there & represent us -- it'd be great if we can save the harsher critiques for other (perhaps more technical) discussions,

and pure wet-blanket dismissals like this for, uh,... *NEVER*.

That is all.

Thank you!

I fuck with (admire) Teske! But lets also take a moment to re-recognize the man who has been developing ol' Tesk...Lansing's own,a Sexton Big Red, and old school Sparty legend Stan Washington's most talented son (arguably). Coach Saddi Washington!

Wilson looked real bad imo and then BOOM, Bacari leaves, in comes Washington, and overnight DJ becomes a 1st rounder. Moe took a significant leap last year too.Theeennn Teske had me very, very worried about the future, but now...if he develops any mid-range game whatsoever, look out.

That be a problem, because Jackson Jr would have to guard one of those guys and not roam free to block shots. But I'm sure Beilein knows what he's doing, that game in EL still stings.

Hope we both make it to Saturday.

Off topic, but WTF is wrong with John Crispin? Has he had a stroke? He can't seem to connect more than a couple thoughts together at a time. Its like gibberish.

I couldn't help it. While watching him, I kept wondering how does he get a haircut? Does he sit on the floor? I am 6' 1" and I slouch down in the barber chair. Does his barber use a step ladder? They would have to, right?

While that may not seem flattering to some, I find it amusing to think of those two in the huddle snickering as Beilein says they need to stop the penetration.
