I also remember there was a rumor that if Shea isn't eligible Speight may return and I would definently pick him to win that battle. But hopefully we never have to cross that bridge.
February 8th, 2018 at 7:33 PM ^
Speight won’t win a battle vs Peters
February 8th, 2018 at 7:35 PM ^
Twice
February 9th, 2018 at 7:35 AM ^
1) Shea will be eligible
2) If for some reason he is not, it would be Speight over Peters
3) DM will likely pass Peters anyway.
Shea>Speight>DM>Peters>Milton

I'm sure that's the inside scoop right now but these boys all have an entire off-season to improve and that ranking could change drastically come spring/fall if the right guys really do or do not put in the work
February 9th, 2018 at 12:31 PM ^
Not sure I really want to read about anyone beating Peters just now... or ever.
February 9th, 2018 at 8:41 AM ^
Interested to see how the new strength staff gets DM prepped for this year. I was happy to hear he had already packed on 20+ lbs his redshirt year. He has a bright bright future.
February 9th, 2018 at 9:08 AM ^
Oh Malzone
February 9th, 2018 at 9:50 AM ^
I am ok with JOK no longer on the list. I don't care who is qb as long as we win a lot of games.
February 9th, 2018 at 1:37 PM ^
feel like Peters is getting a raw deal here. He was bad in the bowl game but he played very well in the other games. He was still just a RS frosh, he could very well turn out to be a great qb. Speight on the otherhand get so much love here and for what? In his starting career here he has only ever had 1 good 3 game stretch against bad teams. The majority of his playing time he has been below average to very bad yet somehow he gets let off the hook. I agree that DM will probably pass Peters but I would be willing to bet they would both be ahead of Sp8 in the fall.

"I agree that DM will probably pass Peters but I would be willing to bet they would both be ahead of Sp8 in the fall."
Damn, my brother, I hope you are right. Speight did get us to 10 wins and 1 save in his first 11 opportunities and if not for an injury against IA that, obviously hurt as much mentally as physically, he may have kept on that winning pace. If your conjecture is on the money, and both of these young men play as well as WS did in his first 11 - hell I'll take his overall winning pct - we will be in great shape with a stable full of confident qbs as deep and talented as the Dawgs from down Georgia way. Oh my my, oh hell yes.
February 9th, 2018 at 8:46 PM ^
I'm scared about the possibility that Peters might not be durable. The way he went down was kinda scary. Which time? That's kinda a problem.
February 9th, 2018 at 3:54 PM ^
I would agree on Speight beating anyone on the roster, except Milton. I do think DM over takes Peters though and if Shea is not eligible could win the starting job next year.
Be great to see Shea eilgible and have a huge year, then get DM some playing time next year and start grooming him to take over when Shea departs.
February 8th, 2018 at 7:35 PM ^
I'm not so sure after seeing Peters in the bowl game.
February 8th, 2018 at 7:48 PM ^
This comment is stupid
February 8th, 2018 at 7:52 PM ^
History would disagree with that statement rather emphatically.
February 8th, 2018 at 9:01 PM ^
We all saw the bowl game. I think Speight would have a great shot to beat him out. Now weather he beats out McCaffery, I don’t know.
February 9th, 2018 at 5:12 AM ^
snow way to tell until at least the spring game.
February 9th, 2018 at 7:10 AM ^
My guess is that Speight would get handed the rains to the offense
February 9th, 2018 at 1:51 PM ^
of his lightning speed and quickness, I'd prefer that McCaffrey steps up to take over. Unless our O-line gets much better, a slow-footed QB is going to get stormed over.
February 10th, 2018 at 9:29 AM ^
at the moment. It will clear up after the spring game.
February 9th, 2018 at 8:54 PM ^
It's RAINING Speight.
#lmao
February 8th, 2018 at 11:48 PM ^
Lol f'n wut?
February 8th, 2018 at 10:14 PM ^
If Speight is allowed to return I might not watch next season.
How would he have any credibility with his teammates after bailing? They’d pay lip service, but NO ONE wants a guy back that bails on his teammates.
If that happens after Drevno apologizing and yet keeping his job, then it’s sad what the program is becoming.
February 9th, 2018 at 9:49 AM ^
If you don't post, either, that deal might be worth it for the rest of us.
I don't think any of his teammates are surprised or upset that he's seeking a grad transfer. If he's willing to come back because of an unexpected development (Shea not getting his waiver), then I'd think his teammates would welcome his sacrifice; after all, he'd be giving up a high chance of starting somewhere else for a lower chance of starting at Michigan. That's pretty much the opposite of "bailing on his teammates."
If Shea IS eligable, it is dumb for Speight to stick around, and I think his teammates know that, too.
February 8th, 2018 at 7:31 PM ^
LA LA LA LA LA not listening Shea is our QB la la la la
February 8th, 2018 at 7:52 PM ^
is the correct answer.
February 8th, 2018 at 7:45 PM ^
you almost gave me heart attack man..
February 8th, 2018 at 7:32 PM ^
I also think it may not matter, because he still won't have a line and they'll be coached up by the same "playcallers."
February 8th, 2018 at 7:34 PM ^
negative group of fans.
February 8th, 2018 at 7:45 PM ^
Who's to say there will be improvment or "development", when they are coached by the same people with the same methods? Our line has been putrid for a decade.
February 8th, 2018 at 7:48 PM ^
Have we had the same coach and methods for a decade?
February 8th, 2018 at 7:54 PM ^
Different coaches, different regimes, different methods, still a terrible line. I think the mentality or weight room regimine is not the same. I really don't know what it is. Something has changed since '07. Linemen don't even think of Michigan as an offensive line rich school anymore.
February 8th, 2018 at 9:42 PM ^
you said the 'same playcallers' up above. It is possible to be a realist and not be negative. The mentality? Seriously? Once thing is certain, it isn't the 'regimine'.
February 8th, 2018 at 7:56 PM ^
just feels that way
February 8th, 2018 at 7:56 PM ^
The offensive line has steady improved as a run blocking unit for 3 years now. And the pass blocking wasn't terrible until this year; it was a B+ unit in 2016.
It has never been great under Harbaugh, but the hyperbole around it from the fanbase is also extreme.
February 8th, 2018 at 9:06 PM ^
You keep saying that word..... I do not think it means what you think it means
February 8th, 2018 at 8:46 PM ^
Never heard so much negative comments as these last few weeks. Even our new 2018 class, and future 2019 kids are reacting to this negativity on Twitter. Terrible
February 8th, 2018 at 7:33 PM ^
Whoever won't slide before the first down line during the 2 minute drill.
February 8th, 2018 at 9:00 PM ^
Exactly. I don't know if I can ever get over the slide. Give me Shea or give me Dylan or give me Joe.
February 8th, 2018 at 10:03 PM ^
Fuck it, put Barrett in if you have to.
February 9th, 2018 at 7:12 AM ^
I started calling for the triple option last year. It stopped being a joke the week after Purdue...
February 8th, 2018 at 7:34 PM ^
No way brandon would beat out dylan. Different level.
February 8th, 2018 at 7:37 PM ^
McCaffrey has gotten some hype but we have nothing tangible to state he's on a "different level"
February 8th, 2018 at 7:50 PM ^
Dylan beats him on "it" factor alone. Brandon is a soft baby and serious lacking in leadership. Dylan not so much.
February 8th, 2018 at 7:57 PM ^
Jesus, warn us next time you are going to open the oven of hot takes so that we can take a step back.
February 9th, 2018 at 12:35 AM ^
That made me laugh out loud for real!!!
February 8th, 2018 at 7:58 PM ^
What is his "it" factor? Was it measured electronically, or just by hand? I don't remember seeing it, Ace must have inadvertently left it out of the commitment post.
February 8th, 2018 at 11:17 PM ^
Dylan objectively has nearly all of the its.
