ESPN Names Michigan as a 2018 Playoff Contender
Here's the (link). Unfortunately, it's accompanied by some silly talk on Harbaugh hype. Worth noting that the list intentionally excludes current CFP participants. Among others making an appearance: Auburn, Stanford, and both Ohio State and Penn State.

Something has to give, because all 3 of those teams from the B1G won't make it.
December 27th, 2017 at 7:34 AM ^
Doesn’t mean those teams aren’t contenders.
December 27th, 2017 at 7:49 AM ^
PSU will be average without Barkley .... They will fall back down to middle of the pack
December 27th, 2017 at 8:13 AM ^
Moorhead is as big a loss too.
December 27th, 2017 at 9:59 AM ^
Dunno how much they would have contributed, but looks like at least one was being counted on:

Bowen had already been suspended Last year and this year.
Makes you wonder about discipline at PSU...
December 27th, 2017 at 9:58 AM ^
Bigger loss IMO.
December 27th, 2017 at 12:06 PM ^
The bigger loss of the two IMO. Another year of McSorely helps tho.
December 27th, 2017 at 8:52 AM ^
Losing a lot of key veterans. They are likely to be similar to Michigan 2017. Not to the point of continuity yet where they can absorb key losses and simply plug in and keep rolling.
Show me a good college football team and you'll see NFL watch list upper classmen and a good head coach. Never fails.
December 27th, 2017 at 9:36 AM ^
But structurally I could see them very different, especially if Patterson wins the job. The QB position should take a step forward now the JOK experiment is mercifully over.
December 27th, 2017 at 11:34 AM ^
Penn st shant ever be victorious neer again.
December 27th, 2017 at 12:38 PM ^
A dumpster after the season. Who the hell knows
December 27th, 2017 at 8:35 AM ^
Why not? There were 2 SEC teams this year.
Michigan loses to PSU and wins the B1G championship. OSU loses to Michigan and PSU loses to OSU.
Three, 1 loss teams.

It's a trap!
December 27th, 2017 at 7:47 AM ^
You have a bad feeling about this?
December 27th, 2017 at 8:14 AM ^
There's no time to discuss this in a committee
December 27th, 2017 at 9:45 AM ^
as it isn't a stunt!
December 27th, 2017 at 2:03 PM ^
Unfortunately there was no Ackbar Poppins moment in the Last Jedi. No more, "It's a trap," from him.

Spoiler alert!
December 27th, 2017 at 7:06 AM ^
But What does finebaum say?
December 27th, 2017 at 7:18 AM ^
Probably something about Florida as a darkhorse, rabble rabble rabble
December 27th, 2017 at 7:54 AM ^
I think Finebaum’s list of playoff contenders probably looks more like this:
-Alabama
-Georgia
-Auburn
-Bama
-SC
-Mercer
-A&M
-Tide
-Saban
-Buckeyes

Pete says Harbaugh is most over rated entity of all time, but he wants in on the next Rome trip on Ross's dime.
December 27th, 2017 at 7:34 AM ^
They named 3 teams from the east, guess who got left out LOL
December 27th, 2017 at 7:46 AM ^
I'm sure they will use that as motivation to assault some more young co-eds...
December 27th, 2017 at 10:06 AM ^
Wat??
December 27th, 2017 at 7:37 AM ^
UM Regent Ron Weiser has agreed to match all donations from Chase Winovich's @chadtough drive, up to $1M. Currently we are near $130k.
December 27th, 2017 at 7:48 AM ^
Board topic.
December 27th, 2017 at 8:16 AM ^
I posted in the #chadtough topic 12 down, but I know not everyone will still look at topics that are 12 down on the main board. I thought it was too cool not to share in the latest board post.
December 27th, 2017 at 9:56 AM ^
I was wondering if someone was going to step up and do that. I thought Harbaugh might because I can't see him going orange but wanting to be part of what was going on.
It is really cool to see someone outside the football program jump in.
December 27th, 2017 at 8:05 AM ^
Because the talent WILL be there. We were competent QB play from being a 10-win team this year. If one of the young guns on the roster steps up next year, and if we can avoid the injury bug, we should be contenders.
December 27th, 2017 at 8:03 AM ^
Tony Gibson's defense loses a few more important pieces, but returns its most important player in linebacker David Long, and promising youngsters such as playmaking safety Kenny Robinson.
Well, Tony Gibson's defense wasn't looking too swift yesterday. I don't know about the Mountaineers suddenly emerging from the Big XII just like that...
December 27th, 2017 at 8:08 AM ^
Hell is David Long gonna pull that off? He's playing for 2 playoff contenders. He better not have games scheduled at the same time.
December 27th, 2017 at 11:03 AM ^
WVU's David Long is David Long, Jr., so I just assumed he was our David Long's son. Makes it even more impressive to think we have an NFL-caliber defender whose bloodlines are so strong that his 2 or 3 year old child is also playing for a P5 school.
December 27th, 2017 at 11:32 AM ^
I spit my coffee out reading that lol
December 27th, 2017 at 10:35 AM ^
I think all of us here can relate that the defense gets put in an unfortunate position when their QB gets injured and they end up on the field for a majority of the game.
December 27th, 2017 at 8:04 AM ^
Next season is very important for the program..That's all
December 27th, 2017 at 8:20 AM ^
If we go 8-4 or something next year than it will be fair for people to have "the discussion." I generally agree with the take that Harbaugh is the "best coach that Michigan is going to get," but at some point it has to translate to wins and championships. I am realistic about what this program is and what it can be, but Harbaugh was brought in and paid a shit ton of money to raise the ceiling, here. That hasn't happened as of right now. He has had some really shitty luck along the way, granted, but he needs to have a "signature year" next year or things are not going to be as comfortable as they have been so far.

Wash, rinse, repeat!

is Hawt about it? Oh, you do the thing where you just post stupid comments about other people's thoughts instead of having any of your own. Got it. Carry on, have fun.

Place a period after carry on! Very astute.

You’ve ran out of disagreement material, very sub stratal. I️ have nothing to prove on a blog intellectually. Trust, that I’ve achieved enough to know that your reply has been stated, a million times! That is the truth.

Good, point. I will, not, disagree anymore. With you! ,

Rabble rabble rabble no punctuation
GO BLUE
December 27th, 2017 at 8:56 AM ^
mehhh. A large segment of Michigan fans had that discussion constantly this year. It's ultimately meaningless.
Harbaugh isn't going anywhere and shouldn't. 12-0 or 8-4 next year. He doesn't serve at the whim of fans who can't take some dork heat from their State buddies on social media.
Thankfully.
December 27th, 2017 at 9:05 AM ^
but we are expecting to win something at some point, right? Or is it really that he can go 8-4 or 9-3 for as long as he wants and it is all good? You're right, he doesn't serve "at the whim of fans" and that is a good thing, but does he serve without any expectations at all? If anything, I think the discussion is premature but I don't think it is meaningless.
