David Harris gets Paid!
According to Adam Schefter, former U-M linebacker David Harris has resigned for a big contract.
Ahhhh memories. Didn't David play way back in the day when we had Linebackers who tackled and stuff?
The good news is that Hoke & Mattison seem pretty committed to bringing back the lost art of linebacking play to our Defense. I can't wait.
dude earned it. he's established himself as one of the top young linebackers in the game.
plus whenever he makes a big play, im reminded of this scene:

Of guaranteed money. Good for him.
That's a gigantic amount of a contract to guaruntee. Nnamdi's contract with the eagles has 4 million less in guarunteed money, and its worth 60 million over 5 years.
Good for Harris, but I'm a little surprised someone who wasn't ultra elite would get that kind commitment from any team. They must have a lot of faith in his ability to continue to perform at a high level.
Should be very happy about this
Where do the Jets get all of this money from?
Haven't you noticed how high airline prices are lately?
I see what you did there.
The contract is backloaded. Only $4 mil hit this year. They actually cleared a bunch of cap space this year since he was franchised and would have cost them 10.4 mil this year. What they'll do with that savings, and what they'll do in the future (they heavily backloaded Holmes' contract as well) is anybody's guess.
Last year the Jets gave big contracts to Mangold, Brick, and Revis. Harris was the only member of the core who didn't get a new contract, and he didn't say a peep about it (other than that he had faith they would reward him in due time). Nice to see a class act like Harris get what he deserves.
Him and L. Woodley both were quite as far as contract negotiations, both know they will get taken care of, mean while the squeaky M wheel B.E. is on the unemployment list
I was napping with the (NYC local) TV news on, and suddenly the name "David Harris" woke me up. It was too late to hear what they were talking about (they'd moved on to the Damn Yankees) and I was afraid he was injured in boot camp. Must have been serious to be the Jets story of the night. Now I don't have to wait until the 11:30 broadcast to feel better.

I have acquired four score and nineteen difficulties but a wench cannot be counted among them.
Well at least the Lions didn't trade up in the draft to get Stanton, and then leave David Harris there for someone else .. that would be stupid, and would have been terrible. It would have been equally as bad had Lamarr Woodley still been there as well.

Congrats to him... Great to see a former player receive a fine paycheck. Wish him the best.

Love to see anything good happen to former Michigan player.
Wouln't David be just as happy with a little less? I mean really, who needs that much.
Remember, the owners aren't paying for it, they make a profit. You are paying for it.

Good for him, congrats to Mr. Harris, baller extraordinaire.
