Didn't it happen in Scottsdale, Arizona? Given that a vast majority of women there are at least partially made of silicone, isn't there a chance the robot-car thought the woman was another robot, and thus just thought it was killing a competitor-robot-intelligence to make itself a singularity??? :-D

Whichever nation/corporation achieves superintelligent AI first will rule the world. Very briefly, however, because then that intelligence will take over. And after that, who knows...

And given that most experts in the field think this will happen, and happen as soon as 25 years (or absolutely within this century), we are fucked...

As long as our HKs are superior...where is the risk???  It would know not to bite the hand that feeds it right???  Just dont forget to feed it.

I actually prefer the movie "Hardware" for this scenario.

It is a little known fact that, right before Skynet got to its more infamous business, it fucked up a fair / foul call in the outfield and made several questionable DPI calls, leading to heart-wrenching losses for teams. Fifteen minutes later, Judgment Day began.
