Coach BA Tweets Player Updates
Coach BA gave a great update of the players on Twitter (along with a number of other great tweets).
■ “Jordan Morgan earned his engineering degree early, find me another high major school that has an engineering graduate in basketball?”
■ “Jon Horford is on track to@finish early as well. What I'm really excited about is he's been healthy all spring and summer.”
■ “Caris Levert has gotten stronger and Stands at 6'6" and some change. The biggest change is his confidence. #mygoodness”
■ “Nik Stauskas is looking like a grown man physically. I wasn't sure that he could looked so defined. His athleticism has spiked too. #yes”
■ “Spike Albrecht has benefited from the weight room as well, but the communication on the floor has been epic! Gonna be a great floor leader!”
■ “Max Beifeldt has really slimmed his frame and we're not sure If he can be called the "Moose" anymore. Suggestions?? #bekind”
■ “Mitch McGary is on the summer circuit for college guys and its easy to see that he has an engine that any car would love.”
■ “Glen Robinson III is a beast! He is so tunnel visioned right now and is eager to help lead.”
■ “What surprised me most about Mark Donnal is he has a funny side. This young man is low key funny. #HALOL”
■ “Andrew Dakich is the epitome of a coaches son and has the confidence to speak his mind. #jbart2.0”
■ “Cole McConnell is a very unassuming young man who is smart as a whip. Please don't leave him open on the court. #sniper”
■ “Derrick Walton Jr. Has a presence about him that seems very familiar. #hmmmm...”
■ “Zak Irvin is not afraid to take big shots at big times. Nice attribute to have. #intriguing”
Hmmmmm... Dan Dakich's son isn't afraid to speak his mind? I'm shocked.
I think it was more of a playful joke w/ JBart since they had some back and forth fun in response to that comment on twitter.
I'm also surprised by how many recent Michigan bballers are from wealthy/famous families. It's a very different demographic than it was under the fab five.
Bartelstein (sports agent dad)
Hardaway (NBA dad)
Horford (NBA dad and brother)
Robinson (NBA dad)
Bielfeldt (bond king grandfather)
Dakich (former coach and sports announcer dad)
How wealthy/famous/underprivilged each one is. They are all Michigan men. Go Blue!!
excited about next season already - how often have we thought about UM basketball in early July?
I can't remember the last time I was this pumped to watch basketball. I am almost (but not quite) as excited to watch the BB team as I am the FB team. It is great to have both teams back in contention.
This is what it was like to be a Michigan fan from 1985-1998.
Basketball: Back-to-back Big Ten BB titles in 1985-1986 (and 1/2 NCAA tourney seeds), a title run in 1989 with Rice et al, followed by a similarly impressive 1990 campaign with everyone but Rice back (though that loss to LMU still stings 23 years later), then the Fab Five years, followed by the Mo Taylor et al recruiting class.
Football: Jimmy Harbaugh in 1985-1986, Bo's last Rose Bowl, 5 years of back-to-back-to... Big Ten championships. Desmond for Heisman. CWood's Heisman and the 1997 MNC in Jan 1998.
Hockey: the start of the streak in 1990. 1996 and 1998 NCs.
Then, Mo Taylor flipped "his" 1996 Explorer on M-14 coming back from an Ed Martin hosted party at the RenCen Westin, with Mateen Cleaves on his official visit. Somebody asked how a Michigan freshman BB player could afford a brand new $39k Explorer, and it all started to unravel.
Damn you, Firestone tires!
Every year, but then I like hoops as much as football
Hashtag #yes.....I wonder if THE KNOWLEDGE hacked Coach's twitter account...
Maybe Bacari IS THE KNOWLEDGE.....Head asplode....
there is no maybe.
BA is THE KNOWLEDGE
.
yes.
.
I bet the football staff is shaking in fear of the of Coach BA ever stepping foot inside of Fort Schembechler. From a fan's perspective how awesome would it be to have an assistant football coach run down the roster with this much openness and information?
I'm glad he found a way to work #HALOL into the update.
Man, I can't wait for some hoops. MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICH
while it's a great time to follow Michigan Basketball recruiting, it doesn't beat "real" Michigan Basketball updates. With Caris being listed at 6'6" now (something I believe) that means there are only 2 scholarship players for this year that are under 6'6". That's kind of crazy.
Are we sure that Fred didnt write these? These are some nice, positive evaluations! And how wierd is it that i knew exactly who coach "BA." was without the OP identifying the sport or even the school in his title thread.
..but more twitter-y
Fred Jackson and Bacari Alexander are the same person? It just might be crazy enough to work.
Grow Blue! You conscious? #HALOL
Imagine if Hoke had a twitter account?
"Devin looks good."
"Fitz looks good."
"Taylor looks good."
"Jeremy looks good."
"Quinton looks good."
"Jake has a boo boo."
a lot of "Welllll...." posts in there.
How do you input "pointing" into twitter?
Zing
that is hilarious. literally made me laugh out loud.
Tremendous
you rang?
edit: guh, meant in response to DingoBlue.
Of course, Bacari Alexander didn't quite stop at complimenting the players:
John Beilein is coaching USA Basketball, they only select the best coaches for that honor. #incaseyoudidntknow

As others have mentioned, I am not sure how long it has been since I've been eager for the basketball season to start in early July. This is exciting indeed.
I tell you what, I'm lovin that 'Murica block M
The two shortest tweets belong to Walton and Irvin....
Very interesting indeed. He must be hiding something...
The next northern white guy I see that's ripped will probably be the first one. Muscle definition isn't one of our strong suits. We're much better at being pasty and skinny or pale and bulky. And sometimes when we see the sun we turn really red.
Dolph Lundgren just got a sudden urge to break you.
Well Nik is Lithuanian so perhaps he got a little bit of that chiseled soviet look going on.
Though, in fairness to the real Lundgren, he also likely could have done other things with his life besides become an actor. He has a master's degree in Chem E and earned a scholarship to MIT before pursuing other ventures. Kind of an interesting story really.
Plus, I'll take working out with axes and lifting old wagons over Drago any day. USA! USA! USA!
So you're saying that he's not just a puncher?
Finally!!! Basketball updates! I remember how hyped up I got when I read last summer that the freshmen took it to the rest of the starters in 5-on-5 scrimmages.
Yes please.
...I find it funny that you just trolled MGoBlog, Michigan die hards...and my entire afternoon with your amazing updates. Work productivity down, MGoAnticipation at an all time high for July 9th. Well done sir, well done.
