I'm also surprised by how many recent Michigan bballers are from wealthy/famous families.  It's a very different demographic than it was under the fab five.

Bartelstein (sports agent dad)

Hardaway (NBA dad)

Horford (NBA dad and brother)

Robinson (NBA dad)

Bielfeldt (bond king grandfather)

Dakich (former coach and sports announcer dad)

This is what it was like to be a Michigan fan from 1985-1998.

Basketball: Back-to-back Big Ten BB titles in 1985-1986 (and  1/2 NCAA tourney seeds), a title run in 1989 with Rice et al, followed by a similarly impressive 1990 campaign with everyone but Rice back (though that loss to LMU still stings 23 years later), then the Fab Five years, followed by the Mo Taylor et al recruiting class.

Football: Jimmy Harbaugh in 1985-1986, Bo's last Rose Bowl, 5 years of back-to-back-to... Big Ten championships.  Desmond for Heisman.  CWood's Heisman and the 1997 MNC in Jan 1998.

Hockey: the start of the streak in 1990.  1996 and 1998 NCs.

Then, Mo Taylor flipped "his" 1996 Explorer on M-14 coming back from an Ed Martin hosted party at the RenCen Westin, with Mateen Cleaves on his official visit.  Somebody asked how a Michigan freshman BB player could afford a brand new $39k Explorer, and it all started to unravel.

I bet the football staff is shaking in fear of the of Coach BA ever stepping foot inside of Fort Schembechler. From a fan's perspective how awesome would it be to have an assistant football coach run down the roster with this much openness and information?

while it's a great time to follow Michigan Basketball recruiting, it doesn't beat "real" Michigan Basketball updates.  With Caris being listed at 6'6" now (something I believe) that means there are only 2 scholarship players for this year that are under 6'6".  That's kind of crazy.

Are we sure that Fred didnt write these?  These are some nice, positive evaluations!  And how wierd is it that i knew exactly who coach "BA." was without the OP identifying the sport or even the school in his title thread.

Imagine if Hoke had a twitter account?

"Devin looks good."

"Fitz looks good."

"Taylor looks good."

"Jeremy looks good."

"Quinton looks good."

"Jake has a boo boo."

Of course, Bacari Alexander didn't quite stop at complimenting the players:

As others have mentioned, I am not sure how long it has been since I've been eager for the basketball season to start in early July. This is exciting indeed.

The next northern white guy I see that's ripped will probably be the first one. Muscle definition isn't one of our strong suits. We're much better at being pasty and skinny or pale and bulky. And sometimes when we see the sun we turn really red.

Though, in fairness to the real Lundgren, he also likely could have done other things with his life besides become an actor. He has a master's degree in Chem E and earned a scholarship to MIT before pursuing other ventures. Kind of an interesting story really.

Plus, I'll take working out with axes and lifting old wagons over Drago any day. USA! USA! USA!

Finally!!! Basketball updates! I remember how hyped up I got when I read last summer that the freshmen took it to the rest of the starters in 5-on-5 scrimmages.
