via Tom VanHaaran on Twitter:

Sources told me that Michigan assistant Chris Partridge was offered a linebacker coaching position at Alabama, but Partridge decided against taking the job and is turning down the offer. A source said more offers might be on the table for Partridge,... https://t.co/4dsaB7tD4w

If Partridhe had left, I think that would have left UM football without a hairless-psycho-screaming-coach-guy on staff, right? That is unacceptable; every CFB needs a screaming bald guy...

Probably

I read that since LSU in 2000, every college football player that Saban has recruited that has played 4 years, has won a national championship.

(Even the ones he recruited to LSU before he left won a championship with Les Mailes).

Monday's win guaranteed that streak will continue at least through this years Alabama freshmen that will graduate in 2021.

It's just unreal how good that guy can recruit / coach / hire assistants.

That's wild

Heard that about Izzo too for a while... with Final Fours.  But that streak was broken when they didn't go to the Final Four in 2014 (but still got to the elite 8 and to give him credit, they did then go to the Final Four the next season in 2015)

It's time for you to retire

It's time for you to retire from this blog as well as whatever association you may think you have with UofM. Your ignorace is not in line with University standards nor is it in the good of the members of the blog, nor any other citizen in any state within the union. You will better accepted with sparty or osu, and your ridigty of thought is nothing short of concerning. Anyone who challengas a the mental health profession, when they are fully aware of challenges of board members and associates is "sick," literally.

Ehhh

Technically I remember he said in 2016 that it was Drake Harris involved in a scuffle in East Lansing during a bye week and in trouble with the law when it wasn't (I actually saw Drake at the bars in GR that night lol)  as it was I think Grant Perry and I think Wangler.  But it was just a minor error and not a big deal.

Finally, a win against the almighty Bama.  Though, I don't like the sounds of the "other offers on the table" part of the post unless it is UM bumping up his status within the current staff.

Appears he continues to look around

I imagine Penn State would be very interested, among others.  Surprised Harbaugh hasn't locked him down yet.

Eventually he's going to get

Eventually he's going to get a P5 DC offer, but now that he's turned down a Bama position coach spot, I don't see him leaving before that.

In the end, that might not be the worst thing... If he has a chance to go be a DC at a smaller P5 school for a few years, he might be a good replacement for Don Brown when he eventually decides to retire.

As well he should.  The goal

As well he should.  The goal is to move up, right?  Of course, situation and circumstance have to play in.  I mean, DC at EMU is probably not a good career move, but DC at Wazzou is.

But I have to say, I'm not sure he has the necessary experience to walk into some P5, or even high end G5, school and be the DC.  Could he do it?  Probably, but I think it's stretching his experience level a bit.  I'd like to see him get a couple more years under his belt, probably at positions other than LB, so he can get a more rounded resume.

Assuming, of course, that extra experienced is gathered in Ann Arbor...

In theory Wazzu could be

In theory Wazzu could be one.  Rumors also are that Jed Fisch might be a candidate for the Arizona job.  I believe Jed & Partridge are close, so if Jed did land the AZ job, I could see CP being somebody he potentially calls to be his DC.

But I mean, bird in the hand right?  Does CP sign w/ Michigan over a few theoretical DC slots that might remain?  I don't know the timeline on all of this.  Michigan obviously wants to retain Partridge, so maybe they're willing to just give him the offer & let him "think about it" for another few weeks.

But if CP drags his feet to see how the NFL & remaining NCAA coaching musical chairs shakes out, there's a risk that Partridge bolts last minute & then Michigan has slimmer pickings for their 10th assistant coaching slot.  So hopefully M has the "what if Partridge leaves us" contingency already lined up.

That's probably my biggest frustration with this staff lately RE: recruiting--seemingly not having solid contingency plans lined up for WHEN things inevitably don't go our way on occasion.  Hopefully they aren't making the same errors when it comes to coaching staff issues.

I won’t be too hurt

If he leaves. But I would be upset if it was for bama. If he is looking for a DC job somewhere and is waiting for an offer that’s good enough, by all means he should take it. Let him build some group of five team up and rise up the rankings to become a HC. I would love to see him as the head coach at some power five team someday. All I ask is to please do not go to some School we all hate in a lateral move, would be a bummer.

Harbaugh should try to get Jerry Montgomery back. He was just hired by Jimbo at A&M but I'm sure Michgan could steal him back by next season. He's a great recruiter and defensive coach, I know Mattison already coaches the D Line but Montgomery could be his replacement down the road.

I’m certainly a fan. We know he’s a great recruiter - is he even qualified for a DC gig at this stage? His career is certainly on the upswing, but learning under Brown for another year or two seems like a great idea.... prob just not realistic.

I don’t have enough points to +1 you for real so there you go.

Yes he’s going to go from H.S. Coach to Linebackers Coach to NFL DC. Some of you homers really smoke the maize and blue wacky tobaccy.

It is definitely great news if he stays and gets better under Don Brown. If y’all are paying attention all these new coaches we are hiring are good recruiters and all have director of recruiting backgrounds from previous schools. IMO I think coach is addressing a weakness on his staff.

Agreed, you have to think

Agreed, you have to think they want him on the road right now. If this doesn't get done pretty soon, he's probably gone.

Pay him

There is a reason Saban wants him. That reason is because of his recruiting... not that Alabama needs help there, but it weakens Michigan with what Partridge has done in the south. He's been loyal to Harbaugh, so let's hope it stays that way.

Easy to agree with that theory

CP has proven he's much more than a liaison between AA and his old h.s. As OP stated, he has recruited well all over and although all top coaches are aware of it, Nick is the one who, while always looking to make his squad better, assesses what is going on with those coaches he feels are legit - and Harbaubh falls into that category - and what he can do to hurt him.  I am not certain you could hurt him more than by taking away his top recruiter. The man connects with kids from every area of the country and he sure in the hell has a resume.

Further, based on what he's said in the past, his future in cfb is "what Coach Harbaugh says it is." In other words if someone comes a knocking with a legitimate offer, one that would be ill-advised to turn down from a long-term financial standpoint, I think Harbaugh would probably be forced to pay him what he realistically can to keep him. He simply keeps proving himself. The man is only going to continue to get better as both a recruiter and a coach. Keep Chris Partridge are probably the three words immediately following his name on his cover sheet in his file.

Hope he stays, but if he

Hope he stays, but if he doesn't then best of luck to him! Not sure if he is qualified to be a DC yet, but if he is then it is what it is. I'm sure at least part of the allure to work under Harbaugh is the visibility and real shot at advancement.

This really makes me happy.

This really makes me happy. I'm glad at least someone had the guts to say no to Alabama. Seems hard to come by these days.

Partridge seems to have a lot

Partridge seems to have a lot of potential in the coaching profession, so I am glad that he is staying.  He believes that he is in the best place for him to learn and develop as a coach.

THEY said we only wanted

THEY said we only wanted Partridge so we could get some high touted kids from NJ and that what Harbaugh did was dirty and now THEY want him to coach on their staffs, funny! I love how the SEC is the first to point their dirty fingers at other schools for doing something they deem dirty and they know about dirty. The dude can coach and Harbaugh saw it so eat it Bama
