CC - Jay Gruden - ESPN 96.1
Listening to Sean Beligian on ESPN 96.1 and he is talking to Jeff Risden about the lions game. At the end of the conversation Risden stated the Michigan search party heas reached out to Jay Gruden and Gruden expressed some interest in the position. I personally buy this 0/10 as a possibility. But take it FWIW. Maybe Cowherd's super secret name?
Edit 1: - If you didn't know - Beligian is the ESPN station's local guy here on the west side of the state in Michigan. Covers mostly greater Grand Rapids area.

10/10 would hire as OC

She'd definitely be a coordinator who calls plays from the field. The Play - wear a teeny bikini, wave to the defensive secondary before every snap, and throw it over the top.
I'd like our chances.
December 8th, 2014 at 3:49 PM ^
All immature remarks aside, I truly think I would hire her as our DD, er...I mean DC. She seems...qualified.
December 8th, 2014 at 3:21 PM ^
Hi friend, didn't know we had another 96.1 listener on the board.
I heard that just now, also, but just kind of laughed it off.
December 8th, 2014 at 3:23 PM ^
I buy that possibility a 0/10. Gruden is someone I definitely see as an NFL guy. Besides he hates dealing with Griffin imagine dealing with some of these 5* recruits these days.
December 8th, 2014 at 3:23 PM ^
side can take Sean Baligan. The east side could not take much more of him.
December 8th, 2014 at 3:25 PM ^
We get either him or Huge... What are we supposed to do!? He's not terrible, but my major complaint is that he just states obvious, never really gives an opinion as to try and never be wrong.
December 8th, 2014 at 3:34 PM ^
more than that. In a very Matt-Shepardish way, when he does actually give an opinion, it is usually horribly misguided and he does not waiver. He often mocks callers who are actually correcting him or telling him why he is unequivocally wrong about something.
I have to disagree, I think he is terrible. Perhaps he has improved since his days at the Fan. If he is now an option maybe I will take another listen. God knows the alternatives are not great either.
December 8th, 2014 at 3:43 PM ^
Your correct about his opinions being misguided. Years ago, for example, he was opining about Rich Rod making mistakes recruiting Sam McGuffie, a small back that couldn't handle the Big Ten. Problem is, he was ignoring basic facts such Sam McGuffie committed and signed with Michigan well before Rich Rod was even in the picture.

was easily the best show I have ever listened to. Both guys were typical radio hosts and Killer was the wisened oldman calmly keeping them in check.
December 8th, 2014 at 4:00 PM ^
concur that Terp and Killer made Baligan minimally tolerable, but not that it was radio gold. Jamie and Wojo are better right now than Baligan has ever been.
December 8th, 2014 at 4:03 PM ^
What station are they on and can you listen to it online?
December 8th, 2014 at 4:09 PM ^
The Ticket from 6 to 8. I think you can stream it. It is incredible to difference you notice immediately from going from bad radio(Terry and Mike) to good radio in Jamie and Wojo. The contrast is quite discernible.

Thanks! I'll check it out
December 8th, 2014 at 5:45 PM ^
I remember when I use to head up to Michigan Stoney and Wojo were on the Fan, must of been mid and late 90s. WRIF use to have a midnight sports show with Albom and Stoney back in the 80s. Only other place to find sports news was WJR and JP back in the 70s.
December 8th, 2014 at 5:21 PM ^
Jeez I miss Killer.
December 8th, 2014 at 4:21 PM ^
I used to love Sean, but haven't listened in a long time, mostly because of his Sparty love and he can't get beyond certain topics (calling teams "cute" and ripping the recruiting services). I think he needs an antagonist. That's why Killer was great, or Matt Shephard when he did updates on 1130, because they would say "no, that's dumb" and it would create a good discussion. Now he has a guy who has the exact same takes as Sean, so it's pointless.
I must say "skirts on sports" was a great segment back when Sean was on WDFN in the mornings (2008ish). Probably second to Jamie and Gregg's "Spousal Arousal" in terms of sports radio games.
December 8th, 2014 at 9:39 PM ^
When he was on WDFN in the late morning hours (translation - when few were listening) he was quite hilarious. Not the best with his sports opinion, but entertaining, and yes, he did need someone to aggitate him or to aggitate himself.
He used to play a game that required you to get 3 questions in row correct to win. Besides almost always throwing in questions about the Canadians, when running out of time to get a winner, would ask the callers for one ingredient of cheese toast (otherwise known as Grilled Cheese). To this day I'd laugh at how many callers would get this wrong ...
As for sports, meh, I wouldn't take much with his opinions.
December 8th, 2014 at 4:35 PM ^
I agree with most of what he says and he seems like a pretty nice guy, but as others have pointed out, it gets annoying how he is always arguing against the "invisible arguer." For instance, he always argues about how great recruiting doesn't guarantee great success. Well no shit, who the hell says it guarantees success? Another example is how about he argues that Porcello isn't an ace and #1 SP for a team. Well who out there says he is?!
I don't think he's a Michigan hater, but if you follow them on facebook, they love to post day old articles on anti-Michigan stuff. Gets pretty annoying. They also once were talking about a chatsports article (LOL!) but that might have been the Huge. I forget

I'm actually on the East side in metro Detroit.
I used to listen to him when he was with WDFN in 2009. That was when I first started listening to sports talk radio.

great show, nice reference with the "hi friend" btw. I would have to say this is the greatest day ever
December 8th, 2014 at 3:35 PM ^
I like him and he is a helluva lot better than huge. If you think you know bad sports radio try listening to the huge show for 5 minutes. At the very least Sean has great hockey takes, I am getting sick of coach lou though

I didn't even double click, well let me just say then that I wouldn'tmind Jay Gruden seems to run a pretty good offense,Cincy has taken a step back without him

Because he has got to be in the option 70-80 range.

Gruden is trying to teach a QB who is best outside of the pocket to be a pocket QB and it isn't working well. Sound familiar?

Local ESPN station in Grand Rapids. Sean Beligian hosts a show in the afternoon called "It Is What It Is".
December 8th, 2014 at 3:23 PM ^
It's just a secret way to get to Jon!
December 8th, 2014 at 3:23 PM ^
There is a 0.0% chance that Michigan has reached out to Jay Gruden.
December 8th, 2014 at 7:25 PM ^
Gruden's agent also represents Charlie Weis.
And there's no way we've gotten this deep into a coaching search without reaching out to Charlie Weis.
