Brandon Johns drops 51 on Sexton tonight. He has been having an outstanding year so far. All of our recruits are playing exceptionally well. Castleton has dropped 43 twice in a row and Iggy has been scoring in the 30’s as well. Dejulius and Nunez playing well also. I’m very excited to see what these kids bring to the team next year. If Matthews stays we could be lights out next year.

Eight minute quarters and no shot clock, so there's a huge variation in gameplay from game to game. One game the score can be in the 80s with teams running up and down the floor. The next can be in the 30s with your opponent trying to pass the ball around for a solid two minutes, even in regional or state tournament play (at least here on the west side of the state). I must say it's nail-biting to watch when your team only gets possession seven times in a quarter and the score is tied at 25 in the fourth quarter when you're used to an fast-paced game.

I don't know. I coach at HS level in MHSAA.

First, The logistics are a big hurdle.  Getting all those shot clocks bought and operating would be a pain.  Finding competent scoreboard operators can be difficult enough. Now, you're essentially asking home teams to have two competent scoreboard operators. Find for some schools, a challenge for others.

I don't see the "stall ball" strategy often.  In high school, we had an opponent use it against us by holding the ball to force us out of a zone after they went up a basket.  Our coach kept us in it, so there was about 7 minutes of absolutely nothing.  Then they went for the last shot of the quarter, we got a stop and we then won in the fourth in a more normal quarter.

As a coach, we were a pretty big underdog on the road once. We knew we needed to minimize possessions and we had a good ball-handling and dribbling lineup.  The first half we ran super-patient motion offense - like 60-second possessions.  But, you can't just run it forever - you have to take your open looks.  And we did and went into half up 13-7.  In the second half they went with a zone press which we largely handled but sped up the pace.  We ended up losing in the final minute, after leading most the game. Something like 42-39.  Ended up being a very fun and exciting game.

Most teams that feel they need to truly stall are going to be so much worse than their opponent that they won't be able to pull it off and will turn it over plenty.

shot clock would have growing pains but I would use 35-40 seconds for HS. That's plenty for a competent HS team to run their offense. It gets worse in final minute of the game where it's a close game where the team that is ahead are more apt to stall. That's not basketball to me.

Would there be a bad HS team that can't handle it? Sure, but that's HS.
