Big Crystal Balls: Aubrey Solomon to Michigan

Submitted by gopoohgo on

Steve Lorenz and Al.com's Drew Champlin. Given Aubrey was informing staffs on his decision....

Edit: and not so good balls; Lorenz picks Gay to Mississippi State and Becton to VaTech

Solomon indicated last week that he would start letting people (coaching staffs) know what his decision was, before he announced.  Sounds like he has started doing that.  Go BLUE!

he told a buddy and asked him to "keep it a secret".  That buddy only told one other person ("I swear, just 1 person"), but now we have 20 people that are keeping it secret.

Don't tell anyone else so it's a surprise tomorrow.

kthxbye

Uh ... have you ever been to Mississippi? I have and parts of it are quite nice. Perhaps a number of kids from there like it and choose to stay there for their college years.

I know Missisippi natives who love it there, whether or not they have chosen to stay there while engaging their careers. Do you know anyone from Mississippi?

While it can be argued that a degree from Michigan is more prestigious that one from Miss St. or Ole Miss, that's not to say that one cannot get a quality education there ... or elsewhere. It need not be from Harvard or Yale.

Michigan is a fine school and Ann Arbor is a lovely place, but it's not the ONLY place to get a good education and engage in quality athletics in a nice environment. Different strokes...

At least you didn't blame bagmen...

Recruits like Gay need for nothing at colleges in the SEC, and their families are taken care of through various "donations." If by staying home you mean, southern recruits stay in the SEC and get paid, then sure, but it's not because they are trying to save money by doing laundry at home

Can someone refresh my memory? Was Solomon himself responsible for that quote, or was it Holloman, and Solomon just posted it to social media?

Either way, am I the only one who finds it incredibly odd that a kid would express such vitriol toward a school and then end up signing with them?

Or is the explanation as simple as "just crootin'"?

Have you heard kids talk lately? I don't think fuck is just used in cases of extreme vitriol anymone. An off-hand remark caught on tape does not in any way mean that is a sincerly held belief.

It may have in this case, none of us can know what he was feeling at the time. But the fact that he said that, particularly in that setting, gave little to no insight as to his true feelings towards Michgian.
