Roped into it? They TRADED UP to do it. By signing Blount, RB became much less of a need this year (they still need one, but they didn’t need one early). I agree with you on taking a DL. But I would have liked to see a TE instead of a safety. I’m content with safeties now, we need a pass catching threat at TE though.

I think they saw SEC Player of the Year and decided to roll the dice. He's a good back, he doesn't have a lot of negatives, but is he good enough to trade picks for? There seems to be a lot of running backs in this class, we could have got one without using picks. Hopefully, the Lions got the steal of the draft, we'll see.

The Lions painted themselves into a corner. Now they HAVE to do defense no matter who falls to them and probably in the third round too. If they had picked up a pass rusher or run stuffer in round one, they would have some flexibility today.

Okay, as a do over, this is what I could have wrote...

Georgia was 8-0 and ranked number one at that time. The spotlight of college football was on that game, pressure that had been building up every week since the Bulldogs beat the Irish. Georgia wasn't ready for that stage and it showed; Auburn manhandled them. Auburn played inspired, lights out football against the number one team in the land, a team which was unable to play like the number one team in the land. Johnson put up big numbers, but in large part to how his whole team played great while Georgia was not up to the task.

This reminds me EXACTLY of when the Lions drafted RB Kevin Smith out of Central Florida a few years ago. They even traded up to take Smith. Exact same size, 6' 215. Considered a "workhorse" type runner, despite being relatively thin for an RB. At least Kevin ran below a 4.5 40-time. Kerryon didn't make an attempt. I am not a fan of this pick. Prior to the trade, the Lions had the fewest picks in the draft. Now they have two fewer than the next lowest team. Also, Kerryon is underwhelming compared to the other backs that have gone in this range the last two years. Ugh...

The Lions must be writing off 2018 because new coach. This trade would have likely cost the third round pick too, so the Lions draft is basically over right now.

I think you mean someone who has rushed for 100 yards in a game, although I will say we've come close. I believe we got to 94 yards rushing in a game last year, in fact.

That said, Stafford's numbers - I think some folks will agree - are pretty good for someone who has had to suffer behind subpar offensive lines and for someone who has had limited "weapons" on occasion.
