I was there for Colorado too.  Sat there stunned for many minutes but it passed.  Later in life, I find that my future brother-in-law, who graduated from Colorado, was there as well.  Anyway, I digress.  This one probably stings for people more because it was MSU, but it will pass.  Terrible way to lose.  That Colorado play is still imprinted in my brain.  My immediate thought today was Kordell Stewart.  I so clearly remember the lead up ... and I still think Marcus Ray, KNOCK IT DOWN.  Hopefully everyone can gain a little perspective in the weeks/months/years to come.

And he was also the ONLY reason we lost.

Sorry, there's no sugar coating it. He lost the game. We can go through and look at a few plays here or there, but at the end of the day Michigan had done enough to win.

Except catching the last long snap.

What utter and complete horseshit....this game was NOT lost on the punter. We fucked up all three phases of the game today - Offense was Hokian in its inefficiency, Defense looked like a fucking sieve giving up 20 yd completions all damn game and we put the "Special" in Special Teams today.

ALL 3 PHASES

Having said.....everyone here needs to nut up and realize we are an overachieving 9-3 team that is LUCKY to have had a chance to sneak out the win against MSU. We are LIGHT YEARS ahead of where we were last year and this team is 1 QB and an older and stronger OL away from kicking ass. One more year of experience across the board and we will kick ass next year.

Keep your heads up.....we are very very close.

Yeah they're overachieving. No shit. I'll eventually come around to being optimistic again. Right now tho? Still barely 2 hours removed from the end of...THAT? No way, man. We had them. We fucking HAD them.

Their fans are insufferable bastards.

This one just hurts, and it's going to for awhile.

Our D gave up a LOT of plays/yards to Cook through the air. Our #1 rated D notshowing up is what cost us the game. OR, if we convert any of the field goals into TD's, the muffed punt doesn't matter.

Just because it was the last play of the game doesn't mean it's what cost us the game.

Just stop it, please. One play never cost any team any game because the other plays count too, I get that,  And our D stopped them when they were playing great to win the game for us.  To say D did not show is an insult.

All we had to do is execute a long snap, catch it, and kick it forward anywhere.  The fact that we could not do that cost us this game, because that is how it played out. We played the percentages, like any smart team would, and lost on a bizarre, fluke play, which cost us the win.

Those headlines you see are not about the stuff you are talking about. Give MSU some credit, but not for last play. That is on us.

down it, time runs out UM wins. Really he did lose the game. There are ways we could have avoided him being in that position, but if he gets any kind of punt off, MICHIGAN is 6-1. ranked 8th and everything is right in the world. At the same time this is a game, no one feels worse than him, he will recover this team will recover and get better.

No they hadn't. If they had "done enough" it would have been enough. They actively tried to run down the clock instead of score and it was THAT that cost them the game, not one guy. I personally blame their leader for that decision - Coach HOKE... oh, I mean Harbaugh. Playing it safe is never a good tactic against a team like MSU. We did well, they did better. We wanted to win in spirit, but they wanted to win in actions.

Michigan had the ball twice (that I remember) in the first half in MSU territory and came away with nothing.  They missed one wide open bomb in the 4th quarter.  Michigan twice has a two score lead in the second half.  Michigan settled for a FG when they had the ball at the 4 yard line.

Thanks a lot for another classic loss. We'll put it up on the shelf next to Colorado and Appy State. Oh, and don't forget 364 more days of ridicule from sparty fans and the fact that we'll see that replay every MSU game for the rest of our lives.

Agreed, and that includes that OSU game a few years back when we almost had it.

For me, it's because for the first time ever, I finally have to conceded that MSU has made it to real "rivalry" status. This long string of losses to them previously, I could always chalk up to 'well, of course they are going to win when Michigan is doing so terribly over all anyway' and have repeatedly told my Sparty friends, "MSU is only a 'rival' to MSU. It's not that Michigan doesn't consider them a rival; it's that Michigan doesn't consider them. Michigan has one equal (on the field), one true rival, and that's Ohio State. MSU will always be just another game we have to get through to get to the real game."

But now... last night Sparty changed that. Michigan ISN'T in a bad place anymore. Michigan might not be up to full 'top notch' status, but it isn't down in the dregs either, and for Sparty to come out and play like that, and for Michigan fans everywhere wanting to win SO badly against them (including myself), they have clearly raised themselves from 'only a rival to MSU' to true rival status. Now the only smack talk I have left for my Spraty friends is "oh how the mighty have fallen when even MSU is your rival." :(

#15 - Please learn to throw the deep ball to open receivers.  I wish he would just work on that.  Game after game he just can't do it.

I don't blame the last play.  Stuff happens but when you miss easy throws like the one he missed.  It's just sad.

Here is how I deal with it.  If I was a player this terrible loss would really light a fire.

Sad how it ended but we all need to know and remember that this season is still going very well with a first year head coach.  No need to go nuts on this loss.

Next  ....... it's in the past.

How do you not blame it on the last play? The game was won! Kick it out of the end zone. Fall on the muff. Catch the snap, run sideways and throw the ball out of bounds. Have Ruddock take a knee. Tackle the guy. Anything but what happened. We snatched defeat from the jaws of victory on the most embarrassing play ever, and you blame it on anything else?
