OT: Talking Cars Tuesday - Favorite Ads
Couple great threads in a row, looking to keep it going with your favorite advertisements. These could be print ads, TV commercials, general ad campaigns, etc.
What do you love? (Personally, the Subaru Dog Family ones get me every time) What do you hate? (Jan from Toyota- notice they never use numbers? They just say "great on gas" even if the numbers aren't competitive)
New, old, classic... outdatedly hilarious, let's hear the best (and worst) ways you've tried to have been sold a car
I loved the Porsche "Awake" commercial (Man in coma, goes to drive his 550 Spyder (swoooon), finds a new Boxster) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH1CaV17cM8
Also, the old VW "Clutch Muscle" one is a favorite, seeing as I'm a card carrying member of #SaveTheManuals
Another classic old dealership commercial here:
Who's got it better than us, Bill?
just wanted to thank you, as well as hatter, skurnie, swan flu, ghostofhoke and dr jaws for weighing in last week on subaru/other options for a crossover-ish family car. in case it's interesting to hear the resolution (i know a lot of people ask advice in tct threads about buying a car), we found the unicorn - a 2014 manual outback - and bought it saturday. my contribution to #savethemanuals. and i'm pretty sure this means i can just drive however i want in the snow since it's awd, right? i hear it's especially good for helping you stop.

Congrats! Pop that clutch and destroy those tires.
I'm honestly surprised to hear Suburu made a manual in 2014, that's pretty awesome. Just hammer on those brakes in the show and it'll come to an abrupt stop (in the nearest ditch).
yeah, it's the last year they offered a manual on the outback. my understanding is the reason they don't anymore is to meet fuel efficiency requirements, as the manual transmission added too much weight - but don't quote me. the forester and crosstrek still both have a manual trim level.

my favorite print ads :
"Volvos, Yes they are boxy, but they're safe"
And who could forget the classic...
Porsche. It's a little too small to get laid IN, but you get laid the minute you get out!
This the exact car I had - my 1981 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight Regency:
Sweet Magnum P.I. stache on my man here as well.
is a truly lost treasure as an interior....
They had a goofy jingle and a quick sketch with a Scottish character doing goofy things, such as: climbing a pole to measure how tall it is instead of measuring it while it was on laying if the ground because he wanted to see how tall it was and not how long it was.

The VW wedding commercial always gives me chills
The Eminem ad for Chrysler a few years back during the Super Bowl. Imported from Detroit. It caught my attention immediately.
As a big Chrysler fan, I also enjoyed the follow-up commercial from the following Super Bowl for Ram, "Farmer," which sampled Paul Harvey.
That gave me chills. It was so well done and was pitch-perfect for the time we were in.
If you have any connection at all to Michigan/Detroit you were awe-struck. "Imported from Detroit."
I literally stood and clapped.

I was going to post this one too. Watching it live was so powerful.
I frakking hate that song, especially because I basically have to sing it whenever I hear it.
Hodge's Subaru is worse for me, both are bad though
I remember that one alright....
For all of us who will not compromise, Ford listened. Ford created Taurus - for us.

"I'll stand on my head til my ears turn red. Go see Cal. Go see Cal. Go see Cal."
Me and dog want you to go to Teley-graph Road, right now, get a good deal."
http://youtu.be/Bo3XPDh7Irs
about every week. The cartoon of the dog scratching himself is comical. I am not sure what part of his anatomy he is scratching.

There's a couple things America has done right... Cars and Freedom.
Its one snippit from Top Gear, when Jeremy Clarkson is showing off the Aston Martin Vantage. I'm not a car guy, but it gave me chills and really left a lasting impact. Its a rare sombre Jeremy as well.
As a Southern Monroe county native, I'm partial to, "Whitman ford where aaaare you?! Whitman ford in Temmmmmperance!"
And most hated is ANYTHING with the Taylor Kia dork. Guy is so fake and horrible, I wouldn't buy free money from him.

Fahrvergnugen, of course....even if they weren't always a "pleasure to drive".
For the Metro Detroiters, here's one of the more memorable dealership jingles - they still use it today, but it is so iconic -
That's a good jingle, the most memorable for me is Kistler Whistler, which I think they stopped using.
